Easy to go to Giant Ski Area because there is a slope to ski area directly. But I don't recommend for beginner to go ski area from this slope. And you can't go back to the hotel from this way, you have to go back by gondola to Yamanoeki and walk 300m. Too far if you walk with skies or snowboard. Yukata is not free of charge, you have to pay 300 yens for rent. There is a shower room in your room but you can't use it because there is ONLY cold water(hot water doesn't work). Some breakfast menu is not enough for customers. But dinner is ok.

A good choice for ski accommodation, close to two bus lines to Yudanaka and Nagano. Ski directly to the ski resort in the morning. Walk back from the Shiga Kogen station in the afternoon in 5 minutes.

Reviews From Real Travelers
The hotel is quite far from the Noji Park. There are no taxis or even other means of transportation from the scenic spot, but the town is very quiet. There is a noodle restaurant named ”Fu +” which is quite good. However, the name of the wild park is not true. There are more people than monkeys, and there is no scene of a group of monkeys taking a bath. It is not bad to have a few monkeys in the spring pool. I really don’t know how the photos of the monkeys on the Internet are bathing.撵 去 🙊

A hidden gem - definitely worth recommending. The location is close to station, and walking distance to convenient store. Staff are very nice and friendly, the food is also delicious. We had two dinners at the hotel; one night sukiyaki and another night shabu shabu. Nutritious, fresh and tasty. Thank you so much for the stay- we love it!

Everything about our stay was perfect. The place was very clean and well maintained, and the location was ideal for visiting the Snow Monkey Park. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, always ready to help. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the onsen was relaxing and beautifully kept. Our family made a special trip from Tokyo to Nagano, and besides exploring the surrounding attractions, watching the snow monkeys soaking in the hot springs of Nozawa, and visiting the Togakushi Shrine, the highlight of this trip was staying at Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado. Initially, we had modest expectations, thinking of it as just another experience. However, upon arriving in the snowy Yudanaka Shibu Onsen, we were immediately impressed by the warm and professional hospitality. From the thoughtful reception to the exquisite dinner and the unique public onsen, every aspect exceeded our expectations and left us pleasantly surprised. This wasn’t just a hotel stay—it was an unforgettable journey into the heart of Japanese onsen culture. If you’re planning a trip to Nagano, this is definitely a place worth visiting to experience the perfect blend of hot springs and nature!

It was a great stay. The staff was super friendly and spoke English. The had parking vallet, provided an outfit to change into and roam outside. The hot springs was super relaxing and great for the feet and body. We tried five of their private hot spring rooms out of the many more they had, some had super hot water while others were warm. The outside room hot springs were beautifully decorated. They gave us access to the 9 public onsens that had different minerals in the  for body healing. At night it was even more beautiful with the night walk and the town puts on a beautiful show and night market. Super glad we booked the stay.

The hotel itself was good, with friendly staff and excellent food. However, our stay was negatively affected by a serious booking issue. We booked through Trip for 3 adults and 1 child. The booking details clearly stated that only the onsen tax was payable at the hotel with no disclosure of additional charges for a child. I also emailed the hotel prior to our stay to clarify details but received no response. At checkout, we were unexpectedly charged an additional 40% of the adult rate for our child despite not requesting or using an extra bed. The hotel informed us they were only notified of 3 adults, confirming a miscommunication and misleading information on Trip.

It was my first time to experience Japanese tatami, which was very unique and had a beautiful view from the window. The room was large and air-conditioned for heating. People who are afraid of cold may not feel that warm, but it will be much better after taking a hot spring bath. The kelp snacks in the room were delicious, and I bought some when I left. Private hot springs are reserved for a fee. The yukata in the room is relatively simple. The best thing is that the hotel provides station pick-up service, and you can go directly to the Wild Monkey Park without luggage the next morning. After the tour, go to the coffee shop next to the parking lot where you get off and call the hotel to pick you up. The hotel will help you carry your luggage and send you directly from the Wild Monkey Park to Yudanaka Station, which is very convenient for independent travel!

I only stayed one night in this beautiful ryokan and in Yamanouchi but I could easily have stayed longer, as there seems to have trekking opportunities in the area. The ryokan itself is great on all levels: clean, quiet at night and has an authentic feel. The staff is very helpful and speaks fluent English. When you arrive, it will provide you with traditional Japanese clothing in which you'll wander by the streets, go to restaurants and most importantly, explore the 9 public and free onsen in the village. I slept in a 3 bed dormitory and hadn't slept so well for several days. A free shuttle service will bring you to the next bus station (perhaps train station as well)

When I arrived at Yudanaka Station, I tried to call on my cell phone, but the phone didn't work, so I was able to request a shuttle service with the help of the station staff. It didn't take long for the staff to come and we were able to move quickly and comfortably. From the time I arrived, they came out to the door and greeted me kindly, and they kindly explained the nearby hot spring tour and the use of the ryokan facilities. We were a family of four (2 adults, 2 children), but the accommodation was not small. Dinner on the day of check-in and breakfast the next day were provided, and the meals were delicious, and the staff who served the food were also very kind. When I returned to the room after dinner, a cozy blanket was set up, so I could rest comfortably. When I checked out the next day, I was able to go to the monkey park through the shuttle service. Overall, all the staff were very kind, so I felt good. The facilities were clean, and there were many things to see around, so I definitely want to go again next time. I highly recommend it to others.

Because we wanted to watch the fireworks festival and experience the hot springs, we booked a room here. We were greeted by a grandfather. It was a little late and raining when we arrived at Yudanaka. The grandfather came to pick us up. It was very comfortable to soak in the hot springs. Yudanaka should not be the peak tourist season. Maybe we arrived too late and left too early. The road was very deserted and there were not many people.

Amazing family run ryokan just few minutes drive from Snow Monkey Park. Booked a room with a private in-room onsen but it didn't make much sense as the bath was hot but there was no hot water in the shower. The room was spacious with comfortable beds and futon. Nice yukatas and socks were provided in the room. Public baths in the ryokan are great (especially outdoor area), we tried both of them. The kaiseki dinner and japanese breakfast are VERY delicious. The staff and the owner are so nice and welcoming. The free transfer to the Monkey Park is available at 9:45 am

Yamanouchi|10.95km from city center
I came from the Snow Monkey Park Senjukaku and took a bus to Okushiga Plateau at the bus station for about 40 minutes. It drove all the way into the depths of the mountains. In the middle, I passed the mountain station where there was a cable car for sightseeing. As I walked further, I saw some dilapidated hotels. I was very worried, but when I reached the end, I could see the hotel. It was in good business condition. I booked a top-floor room with an area of 42 square meters. It was sunny and had a mountain view. The room pictures had not been updated, but it had actually been renovated. It was very comfortable and exceeded my expectations. The entire hotel has more than 30 rooms, 6 of which are on the top floor, with the best view. There is a hot spring on the 4th floor. There is no business or convenience store here. It is recommended to book a plan that includes breakfast and dinner, which is very cost-effective. There are 2 restaurants, one Italian and one Japanese, as well as Chinese. I recommend the Italian one, which has a strong sense of ritual and is very well done for the price. The Japanese dinner on the second day was just average. The hot pot had two choices of pork and fish. Fortunately, the seasoning was sour and salty, not sweet. Breakfast was an Italian buffet, and the Japanese set menu. I chose the same buffet breakfast both days, and it was delicious. The hotel is primarily for skiing, with ski-in, ski-out access. It's right next to the cable car station, perfect for escaping the summer heat. The end of September is off-season, so there aren't many tourists, mostly Japanese. The clientele was very nice and quiet, and I felt like I was the only one there. I highly recommend the hotel's stream hike, which was 200 RMB a great value. I was the only one there that afternoon, and the staff, Mr. Nakayama, was excellent. We drove to the hiking spot, then walked along a primitive forest path, not recommended for those with limited mobility. We saw two waterfalls, but the undeveloped path was scary walking alone. If you don't have cell service, you'll need a guide. The ride back to the hotel took two and a half hours, and I highly recommend it. There's also an uphill hiking trail next to the hotel, great for all ages. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to and from Nagano Station, but reservations are required. It stops at bus stop number 30. The journey from the hotel to Nagano takes an hour and a half, and the minivan and the many turns downhill can make it easy to get carsick. The downside is that the bathroom is brand new, but my room smelled a bit like horse manure. In summary, although it is deep in the mountains, it is comfortable and good to live in. I recommend it.

It was brilliant! It is the same with pictures on this site. They gave me yukata and towel and changed it every day. I had a tea and enjoyed it on my balcony. I tried a futon at first time in my life. I had my own reserved table for breakfast. ❗❗❗The hotel has its own bus with driver, which took me to the Snow Monkey Park and to the station for free! Actually staff was so polite! It is seems like you are someone important. Actually the only one minus that you can't go to all 9 Shibu Onsen's baths, but just to 9th bath only. But the hotel has its own bath even open-air. It was really nice and comfortable accommodation.

Love this ryokan! The service was just amazing! We arrived the ryokan feeling cold and asked where we could get some heat pads and was told that since the ryokan provides free shuttle to train station, they could send us to convenient store. And before it, the staff came back with some mini heat pads for us to use for the meanwhile. There was also paid shuttle to snow monkey park (500 yen per pax one way) that you can arrange with them. We had a tatami room, it was spacious and the staff came to the room to do the check in and served tea and welcome snack to us. The ryokan guests are entitled to go to nine onsens around the area for free. The ryokan provides yukatas and all necessities for it. The meals were sumptuous and super yummy. Overall, a fantastic ryokan experience for us!
