A lively sociable happy hostel! We arrived late from our flight but that was no issue when checking in. We had a private room due to a long time traveling and it was both spacious and comfortable. The staff were very helpful regarding trips, transport etc! Breakfast included was really convenient and nice in the morning. A lovely pool to relax around during the day. Would recommend this hostel to solo travellers, groups and couples :)

Address: 331-337 Lake St, Cairns City QLD 4870 Phone: (07) 4041 6605 If you are unfortunate enough to be allocated this unit there are things you should be advised The Edge Apartments Cairns is situated in Cairns only 220 yards from the Northen end of the Esplanade and the Coral Sea. It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.

Our apartment was very clean and well appointed. Lovely view of the esplanade. We will definately stay here again on our next visit to Cairns. The city centre of Cairns is about a 30 minute walk along the Esplanade and a $8 Uber ride to return if you aren't up for the return walk. A nice location not being in the busy centre of the city but still close enough to be within reach. North Cove advertises itself as your home away from home and it is certainly is that. Kitchen was well stocked, rooms are large, wifi and complex was secure. I would recommend this apartment to couples, families, and business travellers.

Stayed here for 2 nights over easter. Chose a King room and on arrival were upgraded to a King Suite on Level 5. View across to Cairns and up to the mountains was very relaxing and with a largish lounge area separate to the King bedroom there is plenty of room to relax if it is an extended stay. For those who like the exercise its not s huge walk into the city especially if you go a few blocks to the foreshore parklands and wander along that way. Busses (quite a few) run along Sheridan Street as an alternate and a taxi ride is only a few $. Airport is also a short taxi trip and the hotel will have one outside within minutes as they did for us a couple of times. Hotel staff are very helpful and the restaurant serve very good meals. We ate there 3 times for evening meals. Next door is Dunwoody's Hotel which offers a great alternate for an evening meal or a nights entertainment (once their renovations are complete).

We stayed for 5 nights in total and couldn’t have been more impressed with both the rooms and the service at Tropic Towers. First impressions were already great as I called to change some dates due to a Fitzroy Island overnight stay - Peta could not have been more helpful and made changes to our booking free of charge, even though I called the day before our stay. When we arrived, Peta was so welcoming and explained the area to us as it was our first time in Cairns. We stayed in a 1 Bedroom and 2 Bedroom apartment during our time at Tropic Towers and both were immaculate, spacious and like a home away from home. Full kitchens in both rooms meant we had no issues cooking on a couple of evenings. We had a beautiful view of the sunset from our balconies too! Peta even offered for us to leave two of our bags with her for the night of our Fitzroy Island stay, instead of having to take them over to the island on the ferry. We would definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying again in future! Thank you again Peta :)

Apartment hotel, the kitchen is very good, fully equipped, can fully meet the needs of the husband's chef, but there can be no fumes, otherwise the alarm may ring, fried eggs, steaks are no problem, two rooms, two big two small no problem, There is a laundry room, two large balconies facing the sea, parking spaces, and the hotel is completely self-service. The location is a little far from the city center, and it takes nearly half an hour to walk, making it easy to drive.

My friend and I rented a 2 bedroom apartment at the Reef Gateway from March 2 to 9, 2020. The complex is a short 5-10 minutes from the airport, and is about a 20 minute walk to the reef terminal and shops. The facilities are very good: beautiful shaded pool, stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, nice shower, good linens and free Netflix! We were on the ground floor and had a nice, private patio. Clothes washer and dryer and a clothes 'horse' for hanging up wet clothes. I can't say enough about the excellent care and kindness of manager, ”Michael”. If we needed anything or had any questions he was most helpful. When I take another vacation in Cairns, I will stay at the Reef Gateway.

Only a short distance from Cairns CBD with a great selection of restraints and bars. If you like character, good location, peace and quiet then this is the place to stay. Waren 3 Nächte und auch nur zum Schlafen dort, daher vollkommen ausreichend. Zimmer war sehr groß, viel Platz, große Dusche und einen Balkon. Pool haben wir nicht benutzt. Personal sehr freundlich Zimmer könnte etwas sauberer sein. Es war jedoch klar, dass erst ab dem 2. Tag gereinigt wird. Bei uns lag das kleine tote Krabbelvieh immer noch am selben Ort neben dem Nachttisch, obwohl die Betten gemacht waren. Man hätte es also sehen müssen. Aber gut. Wie gesagt, uns hat es wegen den 3x Schalfen nicht gestört. Frühstück war auch in Ordnung, denke es findet jeder etwas. Toast, Brötchen, Joghurt, Obstsalat, Kaffee, Tee, Cornflakes, Säfte, Marmelade, Honig... usw. In die Stadt sind es ca 15 min Fußweg. Da direkt nebenan ein Krankenhaus ist, ist 2x der Helikopter gelandet aber ansonsten haben wir kaum Sirenen gehört. Würden wieder dort hin gehen. Achja und das balinesische Restaurant (morgens der Frühstücksraum) ist super lecker und immer voll gewesen, daher am besten vorher reservieren. Habe dazu eine extra Bewertung geschrieben

The photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. If you want to stay in Cairns, I can not scream it louder, DO NOT TO STAY HERE. The reviews are good but locals say the owner makes the staff write these when in reality, it’s a s***hole. A few of the reasons for this: 1. There is no boom gate for the parking. I know this doesn’t seem like the biggest deal breaker but when the police are making random stops inside the hotel parking area, my alarm bells go off and I’d prefer to have my car and belongings secure. 2. Had a place on the top floor. When we came in, there was a slippery oil like substance on the floor. We had to clean it up ourselves and when we spoke to the owner about it, she said it must be the condensation from the air conditioner from the apartment below us. Not only is this a serious slipping hazard but what a stupid and ridiculous response! However, we came to find this wasn’t the stupidest answer we would receive from her. 3. We found ants all over the kitchen bench. It looks as though they were heading into a hole in the grout above the tiles. The owner came up, with no shoes on and asked us what type of ants they were. Obviously we didn’t know so she had a look. “Oh, they’re little sugar ants. What a bummer”. I kid you not, that was her exact response. The only solution she could offer was a can of bug spray the next morning. Also, to do this, we had to use our own mobiles due to the fact the 2 phones in the room were not working. 4. Sheets were dirty, paper thin with stains all over them as well as only being rationed 1 pillow each with the ones for the sofa bed in the cupboard looking quite filthy. There were also numerous missing knives and cutlery, so too bad if I needed to cut up a meal! 5. With 6 people staying 3 nights, you would assume they would give you more than 1 1/4 rolls of toilet paper! How long is that meant to last us? Housekeeping is severely lacking here. 6. Who on earth keeps saying this is in a good location!?!? It is ages away from anywhere and you honestly have to drive to get into town if you don’t feel like walking for hours. We were going to stay there 3 nights (ended up staying one) and they gave us a refund for the last night after stating there is a 2-night minimum. I genuinely have never wanted to be out of a place quicker. This place is an absolute joke. I have travelled around Australia and the world and this is hands down probably the worst I have ever been to. Hopefully this review will help others in the future to NOT STAY HERE and be informed about the proper state of the Waterfront Terraces.

Not at all like the pictures on the net. Aptmt lacking basic kitchen utensils like oven, microwave/serving bowls, cutting implements etc. No A/C in living area. Only the rooms had old style A/C & fans which hadn’t been cleaned. 1x 2 seater couch for 6. No double bed w/bunk. Just 4 bunk beds. Backpacker’s dream over the main flight path to Cairns Airport. Not for adults on holidays. Won’t be staying here again. Pool & spa was a good bonus, although warm water. Unfortunately, we will not be staying here again.

Pleasant motel with nice extra touches. Comfortable beds with cotton sheets and throws if needed. Efficient aircon and plenty of space in the apartment. Kitchenette was very useful and there are excellent takeaways nearby. I expect the parking can be tight, but we didn’t have a car so not an issue for us. We used the pool, which was a reasonable size, very clean and comfortable temperature. Very clean apartment, kitchenette had been refurbished more recently than the bathroom which was looking a little tired, but plenty of hot water and pressure was good. Wifi was excellent and staff efficient and helpful. We arrived early from the airport and they stored our bags until check in time. We found it good value for money.

Cairns is a very quiet small city with few people and beautiful scenery. The apartment is not far from the airport. It takes a taxi for 20 AUD and 10 minutes. The apartment is not far from the beach and walked for 10 minutes. The owner of the apartment is very enthusiastic, give us a map and tell us how to get to the beach and the market. The room was very clean and the facilities were complete, as it was in late August, the weather was very good and the room was not very comfortable to air. We rushed, put the bank card and some cash in the apartment, contacted the boss and transferred the cash directly to us, and directly sold the bank card, a very trustworthy apartment owner.

Because the room was set up late, it was settled the night before the trip. I thought someone would pick up when I got off the plane. It turned out that I needed to book one day in advance, and I felt very upset. However, the subsequent services, facilities, and breakfast were very good and the hygiene was very good. It's just that there are more mosquitoes in Cairns, so you can sit down and prepare in advance, or you can spray the insect medicine in the store. The pool was clean and changing water frequently (I saw the water change after staying for four nights). The attitude of the boss was very good, the keys were lost, and I rushed over in the middle of the night without any complaints, thank you very much! !!

The room here was good but we decided quite quickly to leave as the regular clientele were getting noisier and it was only 4pm.There were a lot of people loitering and apparently they were asked to leave by management. It is very rare to have a hotel of this price during the Spring Festival, so if this hotel can meet the basic needs of rest, in addition to additional facilities, it is really good value for money! First of all, the location of the hotel is a certain distance from the city center. It is a half-hour walk, but there is nothing to visit in the city, it is nothing more than a supermarket to buy things. Secondly, the hotel's facilities are complete, basic things are available, and you can rest well at night. There is also a kitchenette in the room where you can cook your own meals, which is really a bonus. Finally, because it is a motel, the service is basically absent, but the front desk staff are very enthusiastic, so there will be no uncomfortable feeling.

Good but aging hotel, about 20 minutes easy walk to the harbour. Super comfortable and wide bed, very good breakfast. We were completely satisfied. For the price this place offers everything you need. The pool and kitchen area are appealing and a feature of the hotel. The secure car parking is great. The room itself has all the basics and a few extras like hair dryer and ironing board. The hot water and shower are excellent. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Should you like a walk, the hotel is around a 30 to 40 minute walk to the foreshore lagoon area. Set in a generally quiet area with a few nearby shops and food outlets.

The hotel room is large, the indoor facilities are complete, very close to the sea, although there is no beach, but you can take morning exercises along the coast. The city of Cairns is small and there are not many people, but every morning, many people who run in the morning on the beach will feel that their life is very pleasant. The hotel is not too far from the duty-free shops in the city center, and shopping is quite convenient. The service staff of the hotel was very good. We didn't arrive at the hotel when we arrived at the hotel, but we found us with a vacancy and gave us instant noodles for breakfast. It was very considerate. Overall praise!

Once I got used to it (it took me a day or so), I liked the place! The manager, Mike, was laid-back, friendly and always very helpful. We arrived on a dark, rainy day and night (normal for the time of year in Cairns) and my first impressions of the accommodation were a bit gloomy: breeze-block walls (thankfully painted white), *****-lighting, a bit of a stale/damp aroma and sofa with black-tape repairs. However, for most of our stay we had sunny (and mostly dry) weather and it felt much better in the apartment and the breeze-block walls protected us from most of the neighbourhood noise. The apartment was clean and well-equipped. The cooker worked well - we didn't mind using matches to light the hobs. Good, clean toilet / shower room. The shower was powerful enough with water staying consistent at the chosen temperature. Very good value.

We stayed for 5 nights in total and couldn’t have been more impressed with both the rooms and the service at Tropic Towers. First impressions were already great as I called to change some dates due to a Fitzroy Island overnight stay - Peta could not have been more helpful and made changes to our booking free of charge, even though I called the day before our stay. When we arrived, Peta was so welcoming and explained the area to us as it was our first time in Cairns. We stayed in a 1 Bedroom and 2 Bedroom apartment during our time at Tropic Towers and both were immaculate, spacious and like a home away from home. Full kitchens in both rooms meant we had no issues cooking on a couple of evenings. We had a beautiful view of the sunset from our balconies too! Peta even offered for us to leave two of our bags with her for the night of our Fitzroy Island stay, instead of having to take them over to the island on the ferry. We would definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying again in future! Thank you again Peta :)

The hotel was very clean and the accommodation was very comfortable, especially the service was very good: I introduced the surrounding environment and the facilities in the hotel in detail, and finally called the taxi when we left the store. Address: 331-337 Lake St, Cairns City QLD 4870 Phone: (07) 4041 6605 If you are unfortunate enough to be allocated this unit there are things you should be advised The Edge Apartments Cairns is situated in Cairns only 220 yards from the Northen end of the Esplanade and the Coral Sea. It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.
