The most convenient hotel located right next to Nagano Station. The 2nd floor of the hotel is directly connected to the connecting mall leading to the station too.
Room is cozy and clean. Check in is easy. Staff are friendly even with limited English they are professional. Managed to have my luggage held in the lobby on checkout as well so that I could explore more on the last day.
Nearby are several convenience stores, bus stations, restaurants.
Easy access to popular spots like the Snow Monkey Park, Togakushi Shrine, and more.

Nagano|0.34km from city center
Great room and a convenient location, about a 5–10 minute walk from Nagano Station. The room was clean and the service staff were great. There were no convenience stores within a very short walking distance, or at least none that were very close to the hotel.
The main downside was that the room décor and setup felt quite outdated. I also did not really like the pyjamas provided, as the top was unusually long. Amenities were standard, such as toothbrushes. Given that we booked a Junior Suite, it would have been better to have more hangers provided.
Breakfast was enjoyable, and the desserts or pastries provided at the lobby were a nice touch.FromAU$94

Very close to Nagano Station, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, so we had a great time exploring! It's also super convenient if you're heading to Togakushi by bus, as the stop is just a 5-minute walk away. The hotel was very clean, check-in was a breeze, and they even offer free ice cream and a late-night snack. If I ever come back to Nagano, I'd definitely choose this place again!FromAU$120

Room was extremely worth it's pricing with the cleanliness and you could feel the exquisiteness of the hotel from entering through the main doors all the way to your room.
Walking distance to multiple interesting areas such as Zenkoji Temple and very pretty eateries around the area.
1 extremely disturbing thing was whereby 1 of the huge mirrors by the make up table was right infront of our beds which made my family and I have a paranoid night stay. Other wise everything was top tier!FromAU$77

1. Parking - Parking is behind the hotel, and they will check your booking and give you a parking chit (駐車券). The person manning the parking situation doesn't inform you beforehand that you have to bring this chit to the lobby for check in. We left it on the dashboard as we thought it indicates that we can park here. If you're travelling with alot of baggage, it can get pretty inconvenient as you will have to walk one round around the hotel for accessible routes to avoid a flight of stairs.
2. Check in procedure - 三條-san was helping us with the check in. Did not feel welcomed, and everything just felt routined and mechanical. This was still acceptable. When it came to asking for the parking chit, we said we left it on the dashboard and whether we could return later to show it to him. We were really not informed that we had to bring it to the reception. 三條-san's face immediately showed a face of disgust and annoyance, and he mildly rolled his eyes too in displeasure. My partner immediately ran to the car to get it for him there and then. This was pretty shocking to me as I did not expect Japanese hospitality to be this rude and nobody mentioned to us to bring the chit to the reception. He could have been more patient and handled it more professionally.
We were also unaware at the time of making a hotel reservation that you have to book a breakfast slot at the time of your check in. We checked in at around 7pm, and we were only left with the 6am or 6:30am breakfast slot. This felt very restrictive as everyone has different waking habits or plans for the next day (Felt like we were back in school). You were also restricted to 50 minutes duration at breakfast. Having to change my plan entirely just because of this restriction felt ridiculous. Would I get a refund of the cost of the breakfast if I can't make it for any of the breakfast timings? If this was made known at the point of the hotel reservation, I might have reconsidered as the slots for the more human timings seem to get snatched up really quickly. All in all, the check in progress was pleasant and 三條-san was a huge reason for it. I will recommend future visitors to avoid him if you see that there are other staff manning the reception desk.
3. The J floor rooms were lovely. Clean, decent size, filled with amenities and complimentary drinks even those in the fridge. The hotel room itself was lovely compared to what happened in the lobby.
4. Breakfast - Despite being left with the ridiculously early breakfast slots, breakfast spread was great. Wide range of food and if you get a window seat, you have a good view of the city.FromAU$74

Tokyu Rei hotel is conveniently located right across the street from Nagano station. The rooms are of a good enough size for a short stay for a couple, single, or family with young kids. The beds are comfortable and the room clean. If staying a night or two to experience the Snow Monkey Park and the city of Nagano and it's surroundings, it's a good option. It's within walking distance of Zenjiko shrine, which is large and free to enter. The station is right across the street and offers many restaurants and a grocery store. Prime location, connected to Nagano station via the overpass, so you don't need to cross the road, super convenient. Our room was a bit small, 15 sqm, and 1 large suitcase, it was a bit cramped.

We stayed at this hotel in Nagano as a family of three for two nights. The location was very convenient, with the MRT and bus station just nearby, making it easy to get to Snow Monkey Park and other areas. The service was fine—nothing extravagant, but acceptable and efficient.
One downside was that the toilet had a slightly unpleasant smell, which could be improved. There is a 7-Eleven close to the hotel, which was handy, but for good local food, you’ll need to walk a bit farther, as most of the eateries are located on the other side of the hotel.
Overall, our stay was enjoyable, and we have no major complaints since we didn’t spend much time in the hotel itself. It’s a decent option if you’re mainly looking for accessibility and convenience while exploring Nagano.FromAU$59

The room was upgraded, and although I was alone, there were two beds, so it felt like a lot.
It was classy and had a great atmosphere.
The amenities in the bathroom are cute and make you feel tight.
As someone who doesn't watch TV, finding the Wi-Fi password was a bit of a pain. If you call the front desk, it will appear on the TV screen.
The TV is stored in a place like a chest of drawers, and I don't think people who don't watch the TV will turn it on even if they find it.
It is difficult to catch a taxi in the morning, so we recommend leaving with plenty of time to spare.FromAU$82

I used hot springs late at night, but I responded politely at midnight!
Since I live in the city, it was the first time for the Yakimochi family to see nebula like the Milky Way with the naked eye, and I was impressed with all my friends who stayed there ...! (The photos taken with an amateur smartphone camera are so much more reflective of nebula ... !!) I saw a signboard of the mountains on the way to the Yakimochiya, so I thought it was a land with the legend of the mountains. However, there was a legendary book of the land and the mountain in the room, and I felt the attitude of cherishing the legend and culture of the region, and I was very impressed by myself who liked legends.
When Abu got into the car on my way home and I was in a big panic, I was really grateful that the nice staff found Abu with great insight and drove me out with an electric racket. It was. It was really helpful.
I don't usually do much kuchikomi, but I wrote it because it was a very nice inn.
I want to go play again.
Recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time in the quiet mountains and see the starry sky that appears in the picture book!

The hotel is really well situated, less than 10 minutes from the JR station, and on the same street as the Shrine, so there were lots of places to eat nearby. I stayed in a dorm, which had more people than I expected for a room (I think I saw at least 60 bed/lockers) so it was quite loud even at night as people kept walking in and out. The actual bed was fine, and the people at the front took their time to walk me through what to know for the hostel. The lounge is a little awkwardly partitioned, but at least you get a space to use if you need food.
The dorm itself, I think has a little too many people to be comfortable but is clean enough. The lights never turn off, but because you have a curtain, it blocks out most of it. The largest issue is the noise, since people are coming in and out at random times of the night, and the buttons to open the door are also quite loud when you're trying to sleep. If you want ear plugs, they have them for a fee at the front. Nagano overall was very nice though, and the location made it a lot easier to get around.FromAU$34

The room was very nice - sufficiently large and with all necessary amenities (even a small fridge). The room was clean and in good condition. The staff was very kind and stored my luggage for free, as I arrived early in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located, yet in a rather quiet place. It's a walking distance from both Nagano station and Zenkoji temple (approximately 20-25 minutes), however, do note that the nearest bus stop is about 900 meters away, so if you got a lot of luggage and do not intend to get a taxi, that may be a bit far. Matsuya Ryokan is located inside the Niomon Gate of Zenko-ji Temple. It has an excellent geographical location and is just a few steps from Zenko-ji Temple. The front of the hotel is small, but the inside is a different world, very deep and open. The room we stayed in was half Japanese and half Western. When we opened the window, we could see the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and the street scene along the street. The hotel has a hot spring bath and a Japanese restaurant. The food is very delicious and full. The proprietress is kind and the waiters are polite. It is very comfortable and cozy. It is said that this traditional inn has been run by the Suzuki family for six generations. It is very historical. When traveling to Japan, you should stay in this traditional inn to experience it. This place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night.
Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.FromAU$104

It was also close to zenko Ji Temple at this price and was saved because I was able to check in late. I think it was about 10 minutes walk to zenko Ji Temple. I went in the middle of the night and in the morning, but I can go back and forth without stress.
I walked from Nagano station to the inn, but I could walk without any pain.
It is convenient because there is a 24-hour seven eleven in front of you across the road.
There were two shower booths and we were able to enter at the same time as our friends who stayed together. There are not many toilets and washbasins, but there is no problem.
I thought that the overseas elements were fashionably scattered in the bar area and the joint area, and I wanted to go abroad again early.
It is a good inn with high eco consciousness that can collect and donate the case of disposable contact lens.
The joint refrigerator was not available for infection control, but it was not a problem if it was as climate as it is now.

They also told me how to get to M-wave. Even if you can't check in early, you can store your luggage and help deliver to the room you will prepare afterwards. Drink from the beverage machine in the lobby, thank you, uncle, for teaching me how to use it (laughs). If I booked a room without breakfast, I still gave a breakfast voucher. It is a specialty soba, delicious~
In order to log in worldista Qianqiuchang, it is the first time to brush a new copy of Japan. Nagano was the first stop of the dungeon, and the various friendliness received dispelled the tension in his heart.FromAU$73

Our stay at Shukubo Gokui was incredible. So much history and spirit, and although we spoke very little Japanese we were greeted warmly by the family. Every breakfast and dinner served was so thoughtfully presented and delicious. The onsite bath is very clean and almost like a private onsen. The room was warm and comfortable, and it was magical to be in the space with the winter snow piling outside. The location cannot be any better, very near the beautiful Chusha Shrine, on the path to the other shrines in Togakushi, within walking distance to the town Onsen and ski resort, and probably one of the closest lodgings to the bus stop. The original structure is from 1815 with thoughtful updates to make the space comfortable and warm. That foreigners and visitors are allowed to stay at Shokubo Gokui that has been so thoughtfully cared for by the family for years is incredibly special, an experience we will remember for a long time. I hope we can return again.SOLD OUT

We chose a double room, which was very very good. The room we stayed in was spacious, not cramped, clean, and the bed was comfortable. When you walk down the stairs in front of the hotel, there is a 7-Eleven, which is very convenient. However, if you drag your luggage to Nagano train station, it will take about 10-15 minutes, but it is not a big obstacle. If you have a car, the hotel has a parking lot, but you have to drive for about 5 minutes. Overall, it is okay. I am very satisfied with this hotel.FromAU$86

Receptionist was very friendly, recommending places to eat and things to do. Room was clean. The washing machine is free to use. Bed was very soft and comfortable. Location is about 15-20 mins walk from nagano station. And about 10 mins walk to zenkoji temple, you can wake up early and walk to see the early morning prayer that occurs at sunrise.

Due to an older building, the corridor location wall has moldy appearance.
The room is relatively clean, and I feel that the room is more hygienic than the corridor.
The location is just in the mountains, and it feels a bit far from driving.
In terms of service, as soon as you arrive, check in, there are staff to explain the hotel facilities, take you to visit, take you to the room. I have a special dinner for this order, there is a special person to hold the meal and explain, there is a room to sit, a big room, a quiet room. Breakfast will be eaten in the lobby of a restaurant, and there are special people to explain. 2 meals are full and taste medium.FromAU$146

I chose to stay for two nights at Hotel NewNagano Next because of its very convenient location. Nagano station is just a few hundred meters away and there are a lot of food options (both restaurants and konbinis) in the area. On our checkout day, we left our luggage temporarily inside the free lockers in the hotel lobby before visiting Matsumoto Castle. We just came back to claim our luggage in the afternoon before leaving for Tokyo.FromAU$93

Fantastic stay, extremely helpful & polite staff.
Prime location, connected to Nagano station via the overpass, so you don't need to cross the road, super convenient. Our room was a bit small, 15 sqm, and 1 large suitcase, it was a bit cramped.
Would definitely stay here again but will book a bigger room. Arigato Sotetsu Nagano🙂

For convenience, it's a good option.

Breakfast was enjoyable, and the desserts or pastries provided at the lobby were a nice touch.

For the convenience, location, and cleanliness, it’s worth it.

Wide range of food and if you get a window seat, you have a good view of the city.

It’s a decent option if you’re mainly looking for accessibility and convenience while exploring Nagano.

It is difficult to catch a taxi in the morning, so we recommend leaving with plenty of time to spare.
