|0.22km from city centerMy husband and I stayed at 42 Castle Street in September 2022 and liked it so much that we booked with Castle Collection again. This time (May 2023 ) we stayed in 25 Castle Street (flat 12) and it was so grotty that we had to go out and buy cleaning products from Tesco’s (they only supply dishwashing liquid). It was actually an adventure of discovery. There was dried up vomit on the lounge suite, (nice and crunchy) the bed head and wall to the left of it had some liquid drip stuff on it ( came off with disinfectant wipes), the walls were filthy, (more liquid drips, so I can only assume that a lot of drinking/ puking must have taken place. The skirting boards had stains and black grime, ( sadly, they defeated me and my myriad of cleaning products) the cushions had liquid/vomit stains and the carpet was so gross I didn’t want to imagine what had gone on in the past. As for the view… well, the windows had bird crap all over them from the derelict building next door, which has more than its share of pigeons and their nests. If you leave any window open to let fresh air in, (it’s stuffy) the pigeons try to get in. They do tend to be somewhat noisy, but ear plugs fixed that. You get the odd seagull crapping, too, but I guess they decided that there’s no need to try and clean the windows, as there’s nothing to see anyway. I realise that that the building and birds are not Castle Collection’s fault, but they’re advertising ‘luxury apartments‘ and to be honest, this apartment made me feel uncomfortable and because it was so grotty, I avoided it as much as possible, and I was there for eight nights! Anyway, I managed to clean the vomit off the lounge and the drips off the bed head and wall, but the living room wall and skirting boards defeated me as they were too ingrained. Okay, it was straight after Eurovision, but really? I am a frequent visitor to Liverpool, as am originally from Liverpool and live in Australia, and I thought the Castle Collection was a great place - umm, no. So disheartening. Anyway, the positives - great location and communication regarding access etc was really efficient and friendly. Really easy access. Number 42 Castle St has a lift, but number 25 doesn’t. Car park nearby with discount rates.

|1.1km from city centerWe stayed here for 4 nights. Staff were helpful. We wanted something quite central. This apartment ended up being right beside a residential area. It’s quite far from shops etc but it’s manageable for a short stay. Reception isn’t always open so keep that in mind. A little bit stringent when it comes to cutlery, plates etc. They provided a small pot, large pan and chopping board etc. we had to ask reception for a Knife and they are not in the apartment for “safety reasons”. We also asked for extra pillows as we only had one each. The room was very warm each night. Duvet was heavy so wasn’t really used. Only real complaint would be the temperature of the apartment and difficulty drying clothes, for our short trip we found it to be a perfect little place for rest and comfort although for a longer stay you might possibly need to visit a laundromat to dry your washing as there is only a clothes rack to air out your clothing and heated towel rack to actually dry your clothing on, staff are extremely helpful and give great insight on good places to visit/get pictures of!

Easy check-in, we arrived after hours on a Friday night and all instructions were sent in advance and easy to follow. Spacious room with tea, coffee etc and bottled water and soft drinks on arrival in the fridge. Towels, shampoo etc provided. The only glitch was the wi-fi not working all weekend during our stay, caused by a power surge and unable to be fixed until Monday. Would highly recommend, staff very helpful.

|3.17km from city centerOur previous hotel had double booked us, we’d been phoning around for about an hour but with a match and a concert on everywhere was booked, from the minute we phoned this hotel there customer service and genuine friendliness was brilliant, finding us 2 rooms, and we were given a free continental breakfast in the morning. We were all stressed but when we arrived, the friendliness of the staff soon washed that away, the hotel inside is so beautiful, we were taken through to the breakfast room so we could relax and help ourselves to a brew while the rooms were sorted out, we were shown to our rooms and made sure we were aware we’re all the facilities we needed where, and explained there was a night manager if we needed anything there was always somebody available 24/7, so we all felt very safe being there. The room was lovely, we had a hair dryer, tea and coffee making facilities, a place to hang our clothes with plenty of hangers, flat screen tv and even a nightlight. The beds were very comfortable, as was the bed linen, we all slept like babies that night. In the morning we went for breakfast, there were plenty of options, and the quality of the food was great, (I must say the cherry conserve was beautiful) there was plenty of juices and hot drink options, and the bread etc was always kept topped up as required. If you need anywhere to stay in Liverpool I’d definitely recommend castle lodge, the staff are brilliant and super friendly they will take care of you as if you were family and really do go the extra mile, we loved our stay with you and Donna and George you are amazing, we can’t thank you enough - we’ve all said we will be back to stay again soon.

|1.43km from city centerCity Studios, Rodney Street, is an excellent location in Liverpool - easily accessible for cultural and city attractions. The system for gaining access to the property worked well, in that the access codes came in good time and were fairly easy to use. The studio was lovely and warm, comfortable and clean, with good kitchen facilities. The only thing wrong was that the shower didn't work, although there was plenty of hot water. As we were only staying one night, we didn't ask for help with this, as we only found out quite late in the evening. If we'd been staying longer, we would have contacted the help number, and I'm sure something would have been done about it. We would use this venue again.

Contactless check in is seamless, very clear instructions sent before arrival. Property always in communication. Room was clean, spacious and quite relaxing with a kitchen on hand with all your basic appliances. You do need to stock up at the Supermarket downstairs as the room doesn’t come stocked with any basic items like tea, coffee. The location of the property means at nights it can get quite noisy, Saturday night especially there was a lot of bottles being disposed of by the bar next door which was very loud, but the property do warn you about that, not a deal breaker though. The in room safe was locked and wasn’t able to use it, but again nothing to deter you from the property. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend to anyone.

On arrival I was greeted by Suzi, who was very friendly and very helpful, made me feel like very welcome. I had booked the single room, which was clean, tidy and well presented, with a clean en suite. I spoke to some of the other guests who were regular visitors and they only had good things to say. I will certainly be using them again! Many thanks for the homely accommodation!

|0.32km from city centerArrived at the apartment for a birthday weekend stay. From the offset there were issues. We booked a 10 person apartment for extra space and arrived into the wrong apartment which only slept 8. Fortunately, 2 of our group had dropped out so there was enough space for us to sleep, but regardless of this, it wasn’t what we had booked and were told there was nothing that could be done. We then began to notice the dirt. The floors were filthy, sticky and most definitely had not been cleaned. The towels were stained with lipstick marks and were wet. The bedding was dirty and the mattresses had marks and stains all over them. We contacted the host and they brought a mattress topper and fresh towels to get us by. The next morning we woke up to a leak in one of the bedrooms and damp all up the wall in the living area. The leak was coming from directly above the bed which then made the bed sopping wet. We called the host and the woman we spoke to was incredibly unhelpful but told us a maintenance guy would be coming out to sort the leak, which is clearly a health hazard. We also explained that the towels given were now being used to soak up the leak so requested more. We told the host we didn’t feel comfortable with the cleaning staff going into the apartment whilst we were out and asked if we could be let know when they are due to arrive so we could make sure we were present. 1 hour later we received a message to let us know cleaning service had been into the apartment and given fresh towels and ‘sorted’ the leak. This was unacceptable as we had previously stated we didn’t want the cleaners in whilst we were out which they completely disregarded. When we got back to the apartment the leak which was ‘sorted out’ was a mop bucket put directly in the middle of the room and the bed shifted about. No extra cleaning had been done at all. We asked to speak to a manager which we were told wasn’t available and would be available on Sunday. We decided to take this dispute through Airbnb instead of directly through the host as they were not helpful at all. We received a call from the manager 30 minutes after the dispute was put through Airbnb to which he told us he would give a discount on the next day and a round of drinks and some sort of monetary compensation. The next day when we went to check out at the hotel which they also occupy, we walked into reception to have an awful women stood at the desk on the phone discussing and bad mouthing our group. We stood and listened (because of course they didn’t know who we were) until she was finished. We then made it clear who we was to her and explained how unprofessional it is to be having conversations like that at a front desk and in front of a whole group of guests. They gave us a £100 refund (12.50 per guest) which is completely unsatisfactory and we left. We then contacted Airbnb again to which they have sorted more of the issue and have awarded a further refund for the booking. Please please please do

|0.16km from city centerAbsolutely Shocking! We were originally booked to stay in a different apartment however, we were moved to this one due to a leak in the first apartment. After being informed we were moving apartments I googled our now new accommodation and this images on Happy Days website do not reflect the rooms you stay in, leading me to believe the original room I booked would not have been to room we would have received- VERY MISLEADING! Also the room we were swapped into was a downgrade to the one we booked, we booked a 2 bed and ended up with a 1 bed apartment. The apartment itself was okay, minimally cleaned enough to look presentable however, spills/drink splats everywhere, shower sealant non existent and covered in black mold. Bed was also okay however, pillows were obviously old as they were flat. Alongside this the windows might as well have not be there as they let in a noticeable draft, in turn allowing us to hear EVERYTHING outside. Which is were this review takes its shocking turn. We were on a 3 night stay (Friday to Monday) and on the first night around 3am the fire alarm went off. Usually this wouldn't have been an issue however, there was NO fire and in fact this alarm had gone off because the lift, well what they constitute as a ”lift”, despite only being the size of a suitcase, had broken down resulting in the alarm going off for the next two days, finally being turned off late Sunday afternoon. Making this worse despite having all day Saturday to fix this ongoing alarm they decided 9:30pm on Saturday night was an appropriate time to ”fix” this- making the alarm worse and setting other systems off. Resulting in a completely appalling night sleep, despite the noise on our floor being bearable in a sense, we could still hear the full force of the alarm from the floors below- making this worse because the windows are as sealed as an open gutter, meant we could hear the alarm from outside as well. Despite of all this we have heard squat from anyone regarding this- not even an attempt to apologise for the constant disruption nor an attempt to change rooms. Along side this: God knows who did the plumbing in this building because the toilet didn't flush properly, even with no tissue in it and if you used either the bathroom or kitchen sink the toilet would fill up- completely impractical and disgusting given the money you are paying to stay in this building. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend staying here at all because the service is shocking, rooms are meh considering Happy Days call them luxury. Also the fact the they demand a deposit for staying hear is ridiculous as the room is already covered in stains and other problems as if they are looking for reasons to take more money for a poor room.
