I was surprised when arrived cause many comments mentioned that was not a 5 star hotel . Welcome gift at the reception and also English speaking staff . Rooms were old style but very comfortable with all the 5star amenities. Gym and swimming pool are great !!! Only negative was that on breakfast you couldn’t choose type of eggs … I will come again for sure

The hotel is in good location, clean, people are friendly as are other people in Chengdu. We have good experience with Grace Guo in Cafe K, very helpful and friendly, a very good person and SL employee, thank you Grance!!! So we indeed have few meals in Cafe K. However, the experience in Chinese restaurant 香宫 is awful, food is not good and the tea is so expensive, they charged us RMB250 for a pot of Chinese tea, the red wine is RMB240, omg, very bad. We would not go there again, I mean 香宫.

The room is big and the location is excellent. It's very close to Taikoo Li. The subway station is only 400 meters away. I highly recommend it. Thanks to the housekeeper Cong Cong. He sent water and shower gel very thoughtfully before leaving (it smells really good). I want to stay here again next time.

The hotel is indeed a bit old, but the price is the best. It has everything you would expect from a five-star hotel. The front desk also selected a floor even if the room was not tight. There is also a small gift pack of toiletries and snacks for children when they check in. The children are very happy! However, when I checked out, I was told that there were no more pandas and the activity was over. The children were a little disappointed. They wanted to stay here just because they wanted to send flowers! 😂However, the staff still gave me a panda keychain, which is very adaptable! The kids are happy too!

The best part is that it is near restaurants. Right outside you can rent bikes and explore the city. There is a restaurant on site as well, but didn't try it. If on a budget and looking for a one or two night stay it's a good option. Booked one night and then added another for convenience.

I recommend the grilled cold noodle stalls, fried skewers stalls and spicy skewers stalls. They are delicious! The hotel has a Japanese style, is comfortable and tidy overall, and has a light woody scent. The hotel staff, both the front desk clerk and the cleaning lady, are very friendly. As soon as you check in, the housekeeper adds you on WeChat. If you need anything, just ask. Xiao Zhao, the housekeeper, responds very quickly. I like it.

Loved this hotel! Beautiful rooms, very kind and helpful staff. I felt welcome even as a foreigner with very limited Mandarin proficiency. This hotel was located only a few minute walk away from Xinnanmen Metro Station which has a very convenient route. I was able to take the subway to major tourist attractions like the Chengdu panda research base and Kuanzhai Alley, as well as the train station, which I used to get to Dujiangyan and Mount Qingcheng.

Always an incredible stay! Kelly and the hotel staff are so friendly. They stored my luggage while I was away and helped me receive deliveries in advance. The room was very clean, modern, and spacious. It was romantic and the couch gave a great atmosphere. The hotel service is very attentive - all my needs were met. Breakfast buffet is delicious, gym/sauna amenities are clean. If you come to Chengdu, I highly recommend staying at Somerset! I will be back soon.
