The view from the road belies what nice accommodations the Tyndrum Lodges are, and although there is no continental breakfast or dinner available, the staff were welcoming and helpful to recommend places for us to eat nearby. These rooms are truly luxurious and I recommend Tyndrum Lodges as a comfortable respite to lay your head in Tyndrum.

Great place, roomy well equipped rooms, spotlessly clean, large comfy bed and a great sleep. People dubious by the look from outside but we’re doing the West Highland Way staying in hotels along the way and this is the best accommodation by far up till now!

Like others have commented this is not a motel/hotel. It is a collection of prefab barracks type buildings. It is actually nice if mobile home living is your standard. On entering our room after a long wet day tramping in the highlands we found that there was NO HOT WATER! On inquiring at the office the clerk had left and another visitor had to summon her by phone. On return she stated that all is well and we only need to wait an hour or two and the hot water heater would restore hot water. This appears to happen regularly here and that no one has taken any steps to correct it. Well you get the picture. Another disappointment is the advertised "Continental Breakfast". On arrival you get in a paper bag your "breakfast" for the following morning. You get a convenience store type roll, a small tub of garbage yogurt and a piece of grade 2 fruit, in my case a small bruised apple. So my suggestion is to book into the campground next door where you will get hot water and if you like a small lodge that has a hot tub for your use. They were kind enough to allow me the use of their showers so that I could clean myself.

Lovely comfortable rooms, had an excellent nights sleep which was just what we needed after our walk in on the whw. Had a friendly welcome. Real bonus was the bath too. Breakfast was just a cold continental given the night before, but this was what we were expecting and was of a good standard. Would recommend.

Stayed here a few weeks ago and was surprised to be able to get a room at such short notice as I understand the place is very popular. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room itself was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay again.

Our GPS sent us to another hotel down the road, but we did not have a problem finding it after asking (apparently google maps does this all of the time). The property looks more like an army barrack than a hotel/motel. I certainly wouldn’t classify it as a hotel. The room was clean with standard amenities (including coffee and tea). There was a constant “buzzing” in the room as well which was annoying. Eventually figured it out that it was one light. The bed was comfortable and the linen just fine. The towels were fine as well but we didn’t get a chance to use many of them. The bathroom shower faucet didn’t work, so we ended up having a bath (I can live with that especially in the evening). I realize that ice baths are now the rage, but I really did not want to have one that next morning…but, that was my only choice. The hot water was non-existent !! We tried for an hour to get hot water to no success. Finally a knock on our door - the manager asks if we have hot water. No. She goes away saying she will contact the owner as no one else has hot water (well, I’m thinking what good will that do?). So I boil water and take a sponge bath in the sink….thereby using the remaining towel. After we are all done, packed up and heading to the car the manager comes along with a key saying we can have a shower in another room. ???? Now? after I’m packed and loading the car. No thanks. I inform her that I think a monetary compensation would be a gesture of good faith and she looks shocked. Hot water is a mandatory amenity in my books unless I am camping. I tell her my review will mirror the response to having no hot water…. And I will change my review to reflect that if I see a refund of some sort…..I waited all day and no compensation. Not even a written apology. So…. I DO NOT recommend this motel. Stay away. Not worth the money.

Quite simply, the best out of 8 nights on West Highland Way by a country mile. Tracy was outstanding, rooms spotless, laundry service great, breakfast super. Everyone else...look and learn. This one is simply outstanding.

Fawlty Towers: I arrived about half an hour ago. There is absolutely no hot water in my room. I've been walking all day in the mountains and I desperately need a bath or shower. I've spoken to reception and asked where I can get some hot water for a shower or bath and they've refused to provide me any alternative washing facilities. They also know I've been walking all day and they know how tired and dirty I am but still nothing. I just looked at the reviews below and strangely enough I am not the first person to suffer this.

The facility was renovated about five years ago, so the rooms are crisp and clean. They are also large, a welcome change from some of the other hotels we are staying in on our hike through the Scottish Highlands. The person who checked us in, Helen, also moved our laundry from the washer to dryer, then folded it. She even read the labels on our Goretex pants to ensure she dried them properly! She went beyond her duties, and we were all very grateful.
