Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chicago West-Roselle

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chicago West-Roselle

Roselle|3.36km from city center
We had a less than optimal experience this weekend with our stay.  The room was very dirty.  The walls and carpet were stained.  There were cigarette burns in the carpet.  There was a giant stain on our blanket.  I asked for a replacement and never received it.  There were liquids dripping down the wall.  There were candy wrappers on the floor when we arrived, and there was a clump of hair in the bathroom.  I discussed with a female attendant, but I was told no other room was available in the same category.  I asked for a refund.  The employee said that she would inform the manager, and ”that will not be a problem.”  I never heard back from the manager nor did I get a refund.  There were children screaming and running up and down the halls at all hours.  I called to complain, but nothing was fixed as it continued for several more hours.  I asked for towels two times with no response.  I finally had to go to the front desk and then got 2 towels as ”that is all they had available.”  The conditioner was empty in the shower.  We asked for a few little bottles.  2 of the 4 were half used.  I was also shocked and very upset that a child was able to go to the front desk and request a key for my room.  The key was given to a child who was not a part of my group nor invited into my room.  The child was given a key no questions asked and came into my room twice before I figured out that the front desk issued them a key.

SpringHill Suites Chicago Naperville/Warrenville

Warrenville|1.67km from city center
Stayed 11 nights late June for vacation and wedding tasks. We qualified for the long term rate made this an EXTREMELY affordable upper tier property to stay in. The motel was clean and quiet. The staff was attentive and pleasant. They do not automatically clean / housekeep the rooms, but you can schedule service through contact with the front desk. Bathrooms were clean, and showers featured soft water. The facilities used elongated bowl toilets. The tub had a pronounced swale in the bottom center, and first access was a bit sporty as the feet determined where to stand to avoid a fall. Plenty of hot water, even at peak hours (bunch of baseball teams were here, early afternoon and early morning seemed to be when they were most active). Bath towels are the typical ”too small for real people size” but Target across the way had $12 3.5' x 6' beach towels which transformed nicely into bath sheets. The bed was comfortable, firm but not a brick. The pillows were either down, or very good reproductions, and quite comfortable. Breffas was great on the weekends. Real scrambled eggs, waffle maker, sausage patties, fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal, juice and coffee. On weekdays, they were geared more to grab and go - packaged waffle halves, crustless quiche (if you have an appetite grab at least two as they are... well... compact) and sausage and egg sammiches on a multigrain bagel. All were good options. We won't be traveling back this way from AZ any time soon, but there's no reason YOU shouldn't. If you're in the Warrenville / Naperville / Winfield area for business or pleasure, this facility is well suited for family, business, golfers, Cantigny 1st Infantry Museum visitors. If we do find ourselves back in the area with lodging needs, we will use Springhill Suites again.

When we first walked in, their was someone standing at the front desk waiting to greet us, unlike most hotels where you have to wait around for somebody's help. We received cookies, which were a pleasant surprise, extremely delicious, and warm. Check in was really easy, the person at the front desk was very pleasant we could tell she liked her job, she was also efficient and fast. The room was very clean and didn't smell like pets or cigarettes, like most hotel rooms do even though they say they are non smoking. We did notice the furniture was outdated and heavily used; however it is  expected, because it is a hotel room. We did not come to sit in the room and look at the 4 walls, we wanted to experience the amenities the hotel provides.     I walked in with low expectations because every hotel I've been to with a pool and a hot tub one or the other does not work. This is even after calling the hotel before booking a reservation we end up being disappointed. I was extremely satisfied when both the pool and hot tub were operational and clean. The pool towels were actually on the deck so you didn't have to go to the front desk to get them. There was an incident at the pool with 3 young teens who couldn't handle a certain kind of substance and the one ended up vomiting and all the girls ran away with out reporting it. When we called the front desk they came quickly and cleaned it up. There was a small fitness center off to the side of the pool and was well kept and clean.  Breakfast was organized, the food was cooked in variation, which I enjoyed, because I do not like my food overdone. The waiter was super friendly and very attentive to our needs they will definitely have my business again.

Sheraton Lisle Naperville Hotel

The hotel was nice and the front desk staff were wonderful throughout the stay. In addition to the main hotel staff, the event staff performed in a well-choregraphed effort and handled the conference I was attending well. My Check in was easy and did it on the app prior to flying to Chicago. The rate was good. I looked at the Marriott BONVoy price, and the Carlson Wagonlit rate but went with the actual Conference Rate as it was a better price but all was in about $10-$12 difference. Upon arrival provided my license, got two keys, recognized as a BONVoy member, and was on my way. My room was on the second floor which is not something I would have chosen and the view was the absolute worst. Nothing but the rooftop and Air-conditioning units (you can see in pics). Another thing I noticed were rusty screws in the bathtub hardware and wire rack. I don’t even know that anyone would notice but those details stand out to me. And the bathroom facet was janky. The cold water leaded a bit when turned on and was a bit difficult to turn. If I had not been there working I would have asked for another room but that was only because of the view. The bathroom was not a deal breaker. I did eat in the hotel twice during my stay. The breakfast was really good and I absolutely loved the omelet station. So the room interior overall was really nice. It is what you would expect from a Sheraton, and one thing I want to note is the carpet. I don’t think I have ever commented on hotel carpeting but it was so comfortable. As I was walking around in my socks, I was thinking, this awesome carpeting. Strange, right? The bed was nice and I rested so well. I haven’t stayed in a Sheraton in years and Marriott overall not as frequent as previous years so it was a nice change. The only personal critique Is I didn’t really like being informed I couldn’t have a 2pm check out and that my travel colleague had in front of her. It could have been phrased a little more customer focused, and could have been followed up with an offer for an additional charge or an exception could have been made to encourage future business. I am sure that was just my perception and pride. In the end I didn’t need the later check out, and I was happy with the overall stay. I would recommend the staying here and I like the rooms. I did have a good stay and It was a nice change.
