"The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!"

"The hotel's location is excellent, less than a five-minute walk from Labrang Monastery. The rooms are clean and hygienic, and the hotel provides attentive service. The owner and staff are warm and friendly, always willing to go out of their way to help guests. The hotel also has a campsite on the Sangke Grassland, which offers a beautiful and tranquil environment, away from other tourists – definitely worth experiencing. I will certainly choose to stay here again next time I visit Xiahe!"

Out of all the places we stayed during our Gannan road trip, this was by far the most satisfying. The entire guesthouse has a rich ******* ambiance, and the room's hygiene and facilities were impeccable. What's even more noteworthy is the ******* clothing experience – it was truly fantastic! All 8 of us took photos and group pictures in the garden, and the owner even took them for us. The accommodation is also very close to Labrang Monastery, which we walked to. I highly recommend it to everyone!"

"Probably the largest hotel in Xiahe. It's a short walk to Labrang Monastery. There's no air conditioning, which might be because it doesn't get hot here in the summer. They said they had floor heating, but it wasn't turn-on yet when we checked in, and it got a bit chilly after the rain. The hotel has a restaurant, and you can order dinner, though I found it a bit pricey – I guess that's common for tourist spots. Breakfast was decent, and the cleanliness was acceptable. Overall, I didn't feel like there were any major downsides."

"Traveling to Xiahe, Gannan, I had a wonderfully gentle and healing experience at Baizong Yueke Homestay. The homestay boasts an excellent location, offering a close-up view of the entire Labrang Monastery. Stepping out, you're right on the prayer wheel path; you can listen to Buddhist chants in the morning and watch the golden roofs at dusk. The rooms are simply decorated and comfortable, meticulously clean, and equipped with excellent facilities, ensuring maximum comfort for a high-altitude stay. What's most commendable is the owner's warm and genuine hospitality; they were always responsive and provided meticulous care throughout our stay, alleviating many concerns about high-altitude travel. There's no excessive marketing, just sincere guest service. It was a stable and warm haven during our busy journey. This trip was perfect, and I wholeheartedly recommend it."

"Extremely charming Tibetan-style hotel. It was decorated very beautifully, with lovely wooden furniture and rugs, and corridors full of plants. We got the cheapest room, with a shared bathroom, but even this room was very spacious, and the shared bathroom was nearby. It was warm in the room, with the option to open the window to cool it down. The staff were very accommodating, and helped us book a taxi and answered our questions via Google translate. The hotel has a delicious restaurant, where we ate both breakfast and dinner, including lots of ******* food prepared freshly. The location is perfect for visiting Labrang monastery - they do English tours there even in March."

"This guesthouse is very near Labrang Monastery, within 5 mins walking. It stands in a small street next to the Xia river. There're many restaurants around, both western and local food. The hosts were very friendly and kind. Our room was on the second floor and they helped us to lift our luggage upstairs. Downstairs is a restaurant you can enjoy easy meal and good coffee/tea. The decoration is nice. The house is bright and the air flow is great. There're spots both upstairs and downstairs to sit to relax. And if you add their WeChat they would answer every question quickly. The bus station is around 1.5 km away. You can walk easily there and with taxi it costs only 2 yuan per person."
