We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions.
The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. It was not just accommodation, but a cultural journey filled with warmth and unforgettable memories. Highly recommended!

Guest UserI passed by the grassland and saw this campsite with a nice environment, so I decided to stay for one night. Finally, I stayed one more night because of the godly service of the boss and the guys. The campground opened less than a month ago. Compared to the accommodation conditions in the grassland, this campground has a nice environment. The camp room size, facilities and hygiene are good. The food in the restaurant is exquisite and tastes good. You can also see the stars at night💫

Extremely charming Tibetan-style hotel. It was decorated very beautifully, with lovely wooden furniture and rugs, and corridors full of plants. We got the cheapest room, with a shared bathroom, but even this room was very spacious, and the shared bathroom was nearby. It was warm in the room, with the option to open the window to cool it down. The staff were very accommodating, and helped us book a taxi and answered our questions via Google translate. The hotel has a delicious restaurant, where we ate both breakfast and dinner, including lots of ******* food prepared freshly. The location is perfect for visiting Labrang monastery - they do English tours there even in March.

This hotel is located on the 18th floor. The entrance was a bit messy, but I really like the hotel. It has a large screen TV, refrigerator, automatic toilet (the bidet didn't work because I wasn't familiar with how to use it), free drinking water, and automatic curtains. It's almost perfect.

Guest UserIncredible stay at the Xicheng Inn. The hotel is very cozy with fascinating decor. I loved spending time in the third-floor library, filled with cultural artifacts, games, and books – you'll never get bored! The hospitality from the hotel staff is also unmatched. I stayed alone but never felt lonely. They take guests on walks around the city to discover ******* culture. I recommend staying here not only for the comfort of the hotel but also for the wonderfully warm atmosphere.

Guest UserWhen booking the hotel, I specifically checked other guests' reviews. It still exceeded my expectations. The guesthouse isn't located on the main street, but in an alley, near the Wuzelinka ******* Restaurant. We arrived at the guesthouse on the evening of the 2nd, and it was snowing that night. The owners and their family came out to pick us up—they were incredibly friendly! The two-story rooms were both very clean. Our electric blanket broke, and they bought us a new one the next day. They also always let us know before we went out or when we returned. Breakfast was home-style, with millet porridge, white eggs, etc. On my second day, I caught a cold and experienced some altitude sickness, and the guesthouse owner gave us medicine! In short, I recommend this guesthouse to everyone visiting Xiahe! The only downside was that our trip was a bit rushed, so I didn't take many photos of the guesthouse.

The location is quite far from the bus station, and unfortunately as it was peak season no taxi could take us due to the traffic jam - our only option was to walk the 3km with our bags. There are not many restaurants very close by as it is in a very quiet part of the city. However the location is very convenient for visiting the monastery, just a short walk away. The window for the room looks into the internal courtyard, which you need to be conscious of in regards to privacy.

RaffinettiThe staff and surroundings were excellent. The hotel itself is a mixed bag: a beautiful lobby but the room itself was disappointing: quite dirty, with a desperate need of a renovation. We also received a very dirty towel. The curtains and bed sheets had holes in them.

Guest UserThe dorm was very clean and equipped with a kettle, which was nice. I was the only guest during my stay. As mentioned in the other reviews, the dorm is located in the basement and you have to walk a bit to reach the toilet.
The „shower“ is located across the front desk. It’s a small room where the hotel is storing their cleaning equipment, so showering there is a quite dirty and unpleasant experience. As there are so many dorms in the basement (I would guess 50+ beds), I wonder how they would handle the situation if the hotel is fully booked.
Overall I would recommend staying there for one night, if you are not picky.

The hotel is currently getting renovated so every room on our level was getting drilled and sawed and hammered. The room smelled very strongly of sewage. Upon arrival, there was a towel with dried blood/booger hanging in the bathroom. The bathroom didn't have soap so we had to use the shower gel to wash hands.
Pros: The older reception lady spoke English. The location is next to the monastery.
