I stayed at this hotel for one night while traveling back home from vacation. There were 3 in our party - one who was elderly/handicapped. I was surprised that the handicap parking is on the side of the building and not closer to the lobby door. Upon entering, you can tell that the facility is older, but the lobby has been updated and freshly painted - high hopes that the rooms were that way too. Upon entering our room, the thermostat was set at 61, which was ice cold. Setting it 10 degrees higher would have been sufficient. Our room included 1 bed and 1 sofa bed. After folding out the sofa bed, the mattress was filthy and there were no sheets in the room (had to get them from the front desk). The sofa was setup so close to the wall, you couldn't even squeeze through to make the bed. I attempted to climb on the mattress to put on the sheets and immediately fell through because the fabric underneath the mattress was completely frayed and unsecure. There was also a pubic hair on the toilet seat. We requested a new room and were able to relocate, but did not receive any apologies or concern from the front desk employee (Janet). Thankfully, our rooms were on the first floor, as the elevator was out of order. The shower grab bar in the 2nd room was coming loose from the wall and I doubt it would have been sturdy enough had someone fallen or used it for support. The toilet seat was also so old that it was peeling. And the toilet seat sat so low - again, making it difficult for anyone, let along an elderly/handicapped person, to get up and down. Plus, when you flushed the toilet, it made the loudest noise and water jumped up from the toilet bowl, almost like a bidet. In both rooms, the lamp shades were cracked and damaged, almost like they had been thrown against the wall or knocked off the table. We stayed here due to its location near the highway and price, but I guess next time we'll spend a little bit more and stay at another, nicer hotel. I understand that hotels are different based on their locations and brands, but some hotels (Hampton Inn) are very consistent and you know exactly the type of service, room, cleanliness, etc. that you get, no matter what location you go to.

I come down to Texas every year for the Texas State Fair. Unfortunately, the Fair was cancelled this year, but by gollies, I was gonna get my vacation by hook or by crook! I came down and spent 5 nights in the hotel. I have a few friends and relatives in the area, so I visited with them briefly, properly socially distanced and masked, of course! However, I spent most of my time in and around the hotel. It's at the intersection of two major highways ( Highway 35W and Highway 67), so there is a certain amount of noise, but the rooms are quiet, all things considered. I didn't expect much of a breakfast with the COVID pandemic, but they actually had a relatively good variety of wrapped items, so people could put together a pretty good breakfast if they so chose. I brought some of my own food, and just supplemented from the breakfast choices they had. In normal times I eat more from the breakfast buffet. I think they're doing their best in these extraordinary circumstances. The staff is friendly and helpful. I especially enjoyed visited with ReAnna. She is awesome! We had a couple of lovely chats. All of the employees were kind and nice. I had a good time sitting and reading, walking in a nearby neighborhood, and just chilling! If you come to visit Southwestern Adventist University (just down the road) or friends or relatives south of the Metroplex, or even the Dallas/Fort Worth area itself, this is a lovely place to stay. I would recommend it! One fun highlight that I had never noticed before was a tree in front of the hotel that seems to house about 20 to 30 birds (sparrows?) roosting in it every night, at least at this time of year. I enjoyed watching them hop around in the branches and sing their little songs. Once again, maybe this only happens during certain seasons, but if you enjoy birds, you might like checking out that tree! Who knew there was a Bird Hotel right next to the Comfort Inn?! Also, if you want to stay in the area to eat, I enjoyed the Daily Special Cafe in the little shopping center across the I-35 access road from the hotel. It's near the Berkshire's grocery store. If you like down-home country cooking, it's a nice place to eat. I went at mid-afternoon and was almost the only person there, and the entire staff chatted with me (from a distance) as I ate. I enjoyed it thoroughly!
