Kyoto Machiya Fukune

Nijo Castle Kyoto|0.91km from Shizenshoku Buffet Harvest Mosaic Dining
After staying at minshukus, ryokans and western-style hotels over the last several days, it was a pleasure to end our Japan stay with 2 nights at Kyoto Machiya Fukune. The 2 of us appreciated the extra space of the Sangen machiya compared to our previous lodgings to just chill out, especially when soaking in your personal outdoor hot water (not onsen) bath or the indoor hinoki bath and looking out onto the compact zen garden. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms modern and clean. The included mini-bar (Asahi beer, sake, soft drinks and water) was an unexpected bonus! The welcome tea ceremony with traditional sweets (much better than that offered with the included entry price at the Okochi Sanso Garden in Arashiyama) was a far superior greeting than fronting a hotel reception desk even if one has to wait (about 10 mins) for Miki to arrive (which was forewarned in the pre-stay info); we were informed of our security code when we rang (using the complimentary phone in the separate arrival area) and could access the machiya while waiting. Miki was very helpful with local restaurant and sightseeing tips. Excellent pre-stay information was provided via email from Kyoto Machiya Fukune. While we didn’t use the laundry (complimentary) we did make use of the locker, which we found could store 2 large suitcases and 2 carry-on luggage with room leftover for shopping bags. It cost us ¥1500 for taxi/uber from JR Kyoto stn to the machiya. Once there it is only several minutes’ walk to various train stns or bus stops. Nishiki mkt’s western entrance is about a 10min walk away. This was my 3rd time in Kyoto with the goal to visit sights we hadn’t seen previously like Arashiyama’s bamboo grove and Fushimi Inari shrine. The Randen line’s Shijo-Omiya stn is just over 10mins walk away and the tram takes you into the heart of Arashiyama’s shopping *****, the Kimino forest and near the Tongetsu-kyo bridge. Then take your time to walk to the bamboo grove via Tenryo-ji shrine. They say it best to get to the grove early to beat the tourists, but it rained in the morning, so we took our time and got to the grove about lunch-time. While crowded, it wasn’t as packed as what we thought it would be, given it was a Sunday and also ‘golden week’ (maybe people were eating lunch). We also walked to and visited the Nison-in temple that was recommended by Miki; she highlighted the moss that covered a lot of the grounds; a very worthwhile diversion and IMHO better than the Okochi Sanso Garden we also visited). Had a late lunch in the local area then walked to JR’s Saga-Arashiyama stn; ¥220 to JR’s Inari stn (simple transfer at JR Kyoto stn) with the Fushimi Inari shrine entrance across the road. The place is pricey, but we’re glad we stayed here.

Toyoko Inn Kyoto Shijo-Omiya

Nijo Castle Kyoto|0.39km from Shizenshoku Buffet Harvest Mosaic Dining
In Kyoto, it is common for hotels in the high season of sightseeing (※ I don't know what happens after the corona...). Among them, if there is only vacancy, it will change at a price that will not change throughout the season I think it is the charm of Toyoko Inn to receive a good service. For room facilities, it is a facility as a business hotel and should not be asked for a luxury inn. But the night gown is taken out of the box of ultraviolet sterilization, and finger sterilization and mask are natural. It may be a problem in the room I stayed in, but there was a little wifi instability (there was a moment when the radio wave suddenly became weak). However, it is cheap as a price for the autumn leaves high season in November. Without corona, members can book from half a year ago (generally 3 months ago). I think the reservation will be buried in a short time. The location is convenient. About 1 minute west of Shijo Omiya intersection to Shijo Dori street and 1 minute west of Hankyu / Arashiden Omiya station. Kyoto City, which cannot be reached without transfer of train bus from Shijo Omiya The main tourist spots are the Kinkaku Ji Temple, the Nijo Jo castle, and the area of Ohara, Kurama, from the suburbs of Rakuhoku, such as jitsuso in temple and Shisendo. After all, you can go to the Ginkaku Ji Temple, Kiyomizu Ji Temple, and the Takamine of the Arashiyama. In addition, since the density of the downtown area falls slightly compared with Shijo KARASUMA, there are many parking lots outside the hotel of 1000 yen per night with a 24 hour upper limit. In addition, because it is close to Shijo Kawaramachi ~ Shijo KARASUMA by train bus, You can also eat and drink in downtown.

Resi Stay Nishijin

Nijo Castle Kyoto|2.83km from Shizenshoku Buffet Harvest Mosaic Dining
We had mixed reviews of this accomodation Pros - was a very large room two small doubles and a bunk perfect for families. Amenities are great with wifi, lots of kitchen utensils, stove, tea and coffee supplied, toothbrushes available, washing machine and tablets are provided with an inbuilt dryer system in the bathroom. Bathroom and shower area was also spacious. Beds are on the okay side but could be softer. The area itself is nice and quiet with a bus stop right out from we utilised every day, supermarket and Lawsons are across the road and you feel very safe. Would recommend for families. Cons - check in is in a different location 20minute taxi away so we had to catch a train to the check in office when arriving in Kyoto from Osaka, then a taxi to the accomodation after this which chewed up a few hours as we had to wait 45min in addition to check in due to busyness of the office. The area is a bit out of the way of everything next time I might consider staying at a different resi stay location closer to sights and facilities like shops etc. All the restaurants in the area seem to not open for breakfast until 11am so we had to have McDonald’s if we didn’t want to cook or travel too far for breakfast as we have a toddler (early riser). Same occurred at dinner time a lot of restaurants didn’t seem to be open the Monday or Tuesday we were there or opened too late for us (we travelled with a four year old). Our last disappointment was resi stay apparently have a strict not noise at night policy however another room partied until about 3am but there is no front desk or after hours phone number to call to complain / get the noise to stop. Was very frustrating as walls were very thin so we didn’t sleep very well. Overall we would stay with Resi Stay again but at another location due to Nishijin being a bit too out of the way for us.

As soon as you enter this hotel, you feel very comfortable. This hotel is 15 minutes away from the Nishiki Market. This hotel provides a kimono rental service. The waiter will get your height and color preference in advance, and will deliver the kimono to your room according to your request and time. , and then help you bury it, the whole process takes about 45 minutes, and the finished kimono just needs to be placed in the room and someone will come to marry you.

We went in 2014, and spent three weeks on a trip that took us from Tokyo with Kyoto, Osaka, Takayama and Hiroshima being the main centres we visited. As usual we didn't go on a commercially-run tour and - having done all the research thoroughly before we left Australia - we managed our own tour. Our Japan Rail Passes were such a boon !! Kyoto, as the ancient capital, was a vital segment on this trip and so our choice of accommodation was very important. This little place was central to everything we wanted to visit in Kyoto, and we were taking a friend who really preferred cruise boats and was nervous about travelling around for this length of time by land (she genuinely LOVED it) and so we deliberately didn't choose a more traditional style of Japanese accommodation: a bit disappointing for us as we would have preferred that. It was within walking distance of the Imperial Palace, and close to major cross-city bus routes - so very central to the places we wanted to visit, like the masses of cherry blossoms along the river. It was very comfortable and warm, and facilities were great. Staff were young, friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again if we were to return to Kyoto

Generally speaking, it is possible, Disadvantages: It is the pick-up place and the homestay residence are two different places. I am 25 to 30 minutes walk from Kyoto Station to the pick-up place, and then from the pick-up place to the homestay. The pick-up lady is very good. People helped us call Uber about the drive 15-20 about 2,300 yen, they seem to be a triangle distance far away, There are little neighbors living in the house. Advantages: The neighborhood of the homestay is very quiet, there are Lawson and 7-11 nearby, there may be other, but it has not been found yet

A quaint old Japanese house with a yard, complete facilities, floor heating, air conditioning, hot water and some household appliances. The location is better. It is quiet in the middle of the residential area. You can reach the bus station in about 3 minutes. There are direct lines to most major attractions and Kyoto Station. You can enjoy Kyoto by buying a one-day bus ticket every day. If you have to pick the shortcomings, the height of the door frame is extremely unfriendly to the residents of 175-180 height. After living for 4 days, the head was hit by the door frame no less than 10 times...

Reservation attracted by the attractive special plan ”opening commemorative plan (12:00 check out) < breakfast > 3635 yen”, the result is satisfactory. At check-in, you receive a paper bag with a sponge mask for a toothbrush razor razor razor shower and a PET bottle. Since the opening was May 31, 2021, the operation rate was low for one year, but it is still shiny. Even though it is a single bed room, it is not narrow. Toilet toilet toilet shower room separate 々 1 chair on simple square table No baggage rack, note sleeve ballpoint pen Phone is substituted with tablet placed on the table Electric kettle is on the first floor of the loan The restaurant faces Shijo Dori street and is bright and relaxed. It is available even if it is not a guest. Breakfast is porridge.
