The location is excellent. It takes 20 minutes to walk to the city. The interior decoration is very new and very clean. Three people sharing a room may slightly affect sleep. Check-in is very convenient.

I checked in and the front desk girl told me she only had me down for two instead of the five nights I booked. She eventually found my full booking so I thought no problem. Two nights later I try to get into my room and my card won't work. I'm told by the night staff that I have to change room. Even though I paid for five nights ahead of time. Even though I'm the customer. They decide it's OK to move people around like they're funiture. Despite me pointing out that it would be smarter to let me stay in my room and put any newcomers somewhere else, the desk guy insisted on moving me. After I protest, he says, 'you can stay in the same room.' I can stay? 'you can't stay in the room.' But you just said I can stay. 'You can stay' So I don't need to move. 'no, you must move' The muppet even gets security to come escort me out of my room. Two days later a member of staff comes into my room and demands to know my full name, then he leaves. No explanation. Felt like I was living in a prison. The morning I check out I'm dealing with the same guy who told me to move room. He takes the key card from me and doesn't return the deposit. I ask for the deposit. He says I already got it. When I point out I've not, he checks the computer then turns to me and says, 'you didn't move room' What are you talking about?! You literally forced me to move room yourself! 'you did move' Of course I moved, you were there! 'you moved room?' Yes! 'you didn't move room' Can you belive this level of stupidity exists? If it wasn't for his colleague who told him to give me the deposit I'd have been stuck in this twilight zone argument forever. I have never encountered such stupidity in my entire life. They also charged €13 for a barbecue, which was one skewer of chicken meat on some cold salad pasta, along with salad, soup and rock-hard, ice-cold brownie. This place felt like living with an abusive parent who hates to see their child happy but won't admit they enjoy making them miserable, so they make sure that any enjoyment is countered by enforced, rigid rule making. I think these people only read about hospitality in a book. Also, some staff refuse to speak anything other than French to travellers who come from all over the world. I'd avoid this place. These people clearly have been trained at an army barracks.

For a weekend trip, Youth Hostel Luxembourg (YHL) makes sense. If you're a budget traveler like me, this hostel beats any regular hotel which is likely to be way overpriced considering the country it's in. It is in a quite area of the city and getting to YHL is fun when you use the elevator that descends into the lower city. This is not a party hostel by any means. It is normally very quiet and it is a bit difficult to interact with any other guests. There is not really any commons area except for the cafeteria. All that is left is a couple benches and a table at the reception. Rooms are decent, but old-fashioned and bathrooms aren't the most clean. Breakfast is served with a very generic variety. Also, the bar staff are rather unpleasant and sarcastic. I felt as though I was bothering them when I wanted to order a beer or a coffee. For a short stay, it makes sense to stay here. But given how expensive Luxembourg is (including regular hotels), you don't have much of a choice.

The staff was friendly and welcommed us warmly. The location was good. However, the breakfast was very poor. They had very limited selection, nothing fresh. Coffee and juice was favoreless and tasted weird. Only good thing about breakfast was fresh water. The beds were dirty and disgusting, also the sheets were old. The pillow was nonexistent. The rooms were moldy. The shower had clear mold. Also the room smelled very weird and the air circulation was really poor. We could hear everything from the other rooms, even that someone was brushing their hair. No soap in the bathroom to wash hands. Moreover, in the other side of the hostel (A) was no elevator. We had to carry our big and heavy suitcases to the third floor. The staff could focus more on these aspects because it was not a confortable stay.

It's pretty much the only hostel in the city/ country so you don't have any choice. We were greeted by sarcastic staff upon check in. It seems they he was mocking me and being sarcastic when I said we also reserved parking space in ***********- which apparently doesn't exist in their hostel- he could have explained or said it in a nice way but he was mocking me. Second strike when I presented my Hostelling International card- he could have nicely said that they only accept the card for direct bookings and not those made from ***********- but again he was sarcasting and mocking me. They have a restaurant where breakfast buffet happens which is decent with typical germanic breakfast composed of bread, butter, cheese, ham and jams served with coffee or juice. Lunch menus are ok and prices are cheap if you base it on Luxembourgish rates. Toilets and showers are kept well, although the shower cubicles are quite small and may be uneasy to move around, the shower heads are fixed so you can't also hold them. The rooms are ok, well kept, beds are comfy and with a view. There is a small libary where I had videocalls- WiFi connection throught the building is good, the only annoying thing is you may have to switch connections when you move around each floor but it is ok.

Very beautiful experience. Good food, good people. The staff keeps the space very clean, the food varies and they include vegetarian and vegan menus. There is a space for working and multiple rooms for organisations, meetings and other activities.
