Riad Safar

My partner and I can’t thank Riad Safar enough for looking after us during the latest 6.8 earthquake that hit Marrakesh. The hosts made sure we were all okay, informed us that the building was safe to stay in and made us breakfast the following morning (which was delicious). We left the next day in light of the events and we were able to pay 1 night instead of the 4 previously booked which was very kind of the hosts. Their service was continued and excellent throughout even despite the earthquake. The riad is gorgeous and very quiet which is nice after being in the busy medina. The rooms are beautiful and spacious with comfortable beds and en suites. Thank you again!!

Excellent stay at Riad Safar. The hotel staff met our taxi in the medina and brought our bags back to riad. Our room was beautiful and spacious and we were upgraded to an even better room in the middle of our stay. We had a great breakfast made for us every morning. Staff were superb and felt like a 5 star luxury hotel! Would highly recommend and can’t wait to go back one day.

Be aware of this Riad I booked in January for a stay in May. The Riad then confirmed everything was good on the Monday. Saturday morning - whilst boarding the plane from Gatwick - the Riad emailed me to tell me my reservation was cancelled - no explanation why. Result was that we landed in Marrakesh with nowhere to stay. Even after visiting this Riad they could not explain the problem, but obviously they got a higher paying customer! You have been warned.

Stunningly renovated 350 year old riad in the Medina. It's beautiful, calm and quiet, and easily located near Dar El Bacha museum, a good taxi point - once you know where you are going. (NB. Google maps doesn't show it in the right alley - close location, but entirely different route! Probably easiest to save time and ask the lovely staff to come meet you) We spent 2 nights here but happily would have stayed much longer. We had the amazing junior suite, a huge space, and enjoyed the rooftop for a great breakfast, sunning and post-dinner chat. The downstairs common area is lovely for shaded relaxing too. And the bathroom copper sink and wood just fabulous, and the furnishings! Really, an amazing place. Owner stays here, and has wonderfully friendly, helpful staff.

We had an amazing 4 night stay in this riad. At the time we were the only guests staying so had the place to ourselves. Nothing we asked for was too much trouble for the team here. We were asked if we wanted a drink one afternoon and I asked for a diet coke without realising that someone had probably had to go out to get this for me specially, but it didn't appear to be a problem - infact it was probably more of a problem for me once I realised. We asked what time breakfast was and were told we could eat whatever time we wanted and it could be served wherever we wanted within the riad. We ate in the courtyard each day but it could have been served on the roof top terrace if we had wanted. The breakfast itself was I believe typically Moroccan, eggs, pastries, bread with jams and honey. Fresh orange juice and coffee also. We didn't eat in the riad in an evening as we like to get out and about but we were offered to eat there if we wanted. We stayed in the suite and it was beautiful, traditional and spotless. It could get cool in the night but there were plenty of blankets and a heater if it was needed. Hamid and Anass looked after us so well. Anass helped book trips out for us and Hamid walked with us to join our trips each day Anass speaks good English, Hamid speaks French but school girl French worked well and we had no problems at all. Just note that on checkout you do have to pay city taxes. We did know in advance but as it just a few pounds we had forgotten about it - just make sure you have cash left to pay this as you cannot pay this on a card. All in all an excellent stay

The riad is a jewel and the service is warm and impeccable! We have been picked up at arrival and accompanied back when we left, and we have been treated superbly during the whole stay. We had an amazing time when we visited back in Spring, we will definitely come back and suggest to all our friends!
