Asakusa Tobu Hotel

9.4/10
Amazing

This hotel was one of Tokyo's pleasant surprises! When I was looking for hotels in Japan before, they were either tiny or super expensive. This place offers incredible value for money, and the location is incredibly convenient—the subway station is right outside the door! It's also close to attractions, and the hotel itself is a good size and very clean. You can even walk to Akihabara from here!

This hotel boasts a prime location right by Shinjuku South Exit, a mere 3-minute walk from Shinjuku Station. There's also a skybridge directly connecting it to Takashimaya Department Store, making shopping and getting around incredibly convenient. The reception is located on the 20th floor, and all guest rooms are situated from the 22nd floor upwards. These rooms are noticeably more spacious than typical Tokyo hotels, with well-equipped bathrooms. High-floor rooms offer stunning panoramic views of the city's nightscape. The buffet breakfast, served in the scenic restaurant, receives rave reviews for its freshly made omelets, and caters to both Japanese and Western palates. The staff are warm and attentive, and the soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, ensuring a peaceful stay away from the city's hustle and bustle. It's an outstanding choice for accommodation in Shinjuku, whether you're sightseeing or just passing through.

Akihabara Washington Hotel

This hotel is turning out to be my go-to as it is my second time staying there out of my 3 times visiting Tokyo. Very conveniently located, just a short 2 stops away from Tokyo station, and at the mouth of the vibrant and exciting Akihabara Electric Town, it was a cozy home away from home. This time round though, I was assigned a room on the 3rd floor, just off the reception and I was afraid that it would be noisy, but it was well off the main area so it was still fairly well contained. Room was as usual, cozy and comfortable and had a bigger desk area than my previous stay. Walking distance to Aikihabara, and many abd eateries, kobinis, and a minute away to Akihabara Station, really the location takes the cake. Nothing much negative to say, and definitely will be top of the list for subsequent Tokyo visits!

This is my second time staying at Keio Plaza Hotel. For Tokyo standards, the rooms are quite spacious. However, it's a bit of a walk to the subway station, at least 10 minutes. On the bright side, the Limousine Bus from the airport drops you off directly at the hotel, which is super convenient. The staff were very welcoming and helped me with my luggage during check-in, making it a breeze. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, which is very handy. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit.

The hotel staff were all really good. There's no bottled water provided in the room, but you can get water from a dispenser. The room decor is like a budget hotel, and it's a bit small, but that's to be expected given the location in Shinjuku.

The accommodation was really clean, and the staff's service was excellent. The lounge coffee is incredibly delicious! I think I had a cup every time I went out and came back! 😆 I have a family member who uses a wheelchair, and although the executive room we stayed in wasn't a barrier-free room, it was spacious enough to move around comfortably. If I ever come back to Tokyo, I'd definitely want to stay here again. It's also close to Tokyo Station and just excellent.

Super Hotel Premier Ginza

Though small, this hotel has everything you need. Its Ginza location is incredibly convenient, perfect for shopping or quickly getting to Narita Airport via the expressway. What truly impressed me is how many features are packed into such a compact space. They have a coin-operated laundry and a large public bath. The room, which I'd estimate at about 20 square meters, even managed to fit bunk beds (1.2m/1.5m), making it very family-friendly. A minor point is that since the hotel is directly above the subway, you occasionally feel vibrations as trains pass. This led to a funny moment when an actual earthquake hit at night, and I initially thought it was just another train going by!

The hotel is very close to Ginza, just a 350-meter walk around the corner to Matsuya Department Store. The room was indeed very small, but it had a feminine style. There's a coffee machine in the room, and they provide two bottles of mineral water daily. Breakfast is a Western-style semi-buffet; the presentation is beautiful, and the taste is pretty good, though I personally prefer Japanese breakfast. It's about a 600-meter walk from JR Yurakucho Station to the hotel. It's not convenient with luggage, so a taxi costs around 500 yen for the minimum fare.

employees and amazing breakfast. They had many vegetables + yogurt + all kind of meats (I really liked the beef) - really worth it for 2100 yen per person. My only complaint is that breakfast ends quite early at 9:30. It is very close to 2 metro lines (green and orange) so you can easily reach any place in Tokyo. There is a non-stop 7/11 at the -1 floor (you can take the elevator and exit through the shop). It has a very easy to use and good exchange rate ATM. The gym is like the typical hotel gym. Very small and with few dumbbells.

The city center is really crowded, and it's a bit uncomfortable not being able to fully open my suitcase. However, the staff on the first floor are all very professional and have excellent attitudes.
