Son Brull Hotel & Spa

My experience at Relais & Chateau hotels is that they are all excellent. However, I think that the quality of service at Son Brull may be the highest yet of all that R&C hotels that I've stayed in. This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful, country setting yet only a few minutes drive from the charming town of Pollenca. The location, rooms, spa, amenities, pool, restaurants, and service are all outstanding. Should I return to Mallorca, this is where I will stay again.

3-5/5 is my rating here. The setting is lovely, the room was good (deluxe with terrace) and the staff are pleasant. I do believe, however, that the hotel doesn’t really know what it wants to be. On the one hand it’s a rural retreat/healthy sanctuary and on the other it’s a luxury hotel. In seeking to be both it fails to fully nail either. The pool, whilst lovely, was freezing cold and being at one with nature extended to ever present wasps drinking the water around the edges. Poolside service occurred only when you either got up to go get a staff member or gesticulated wildly from your lounger. Likewise, there was no towel placement or assistance with umbrellas without request. 365 restaurant was okay but no more than that and if you do go, be prepared for an overly long experience. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice hotel, it’s just not a great hotel.

What can I say, I can't fault this hotel one bit. It was everything and more. My partner and I were torn over booking Son Brull and another hotel on the island and we are so glad we made this choice. I would happily stay there every time we visit Mallorca. The hotel itself is stunning, set in front of a mountain surrounded by orange trees and olive groves. The room was beautiful (we were upgraded as the hotel wasn't full) and it had a free standing bath and a huge bed. You can even choose your bed linen of preference from a menu - the ultimate luxury! The breakfast was excellent and had both a buffet and a menu to order hot food. We had dinner in their 365 restaurant on one of the evenings and it was a memorable experience. If you can't stay at the hotel then I would at least recommend booking a special dinner there. Lots of the ingredients come from their farm or from producers very local to the hotel. We had a massage in the spa which was the most relaxing experience. One of the best parts was the activities they provide, we used the electric bikes everyday and explored lots of nearby areas which you can ride to on pretty back roads. This made the holiday so much more enjoyable than just taking a car everywhere. The free yoga class was great and taught by a very good teacher. We didn't end up planning tennis but will do next time. You can also book a tour of the bee hives and olive groves which we will also do next time. The staff are extremely helpful and do everything they can to make your experience as relaxing as possible. Nothing feels too much. When you leave they give you a jar homemade orange marmalade to take home. It felt like they had thought of everything. I can't wait to go back!

This was our second visit to Son Brull and once again we found a hotel ready to welcome us. The staff are helpful and understanding without being intrusive. We had a slight issue with our room which was resolved with the minimum of fuss and totally to our satisfaction. We enjoyed walking in the surrounding area up into the valley and also into Pollensa along quiet roads and byways. The beach in Formentor, which is so worth a visit, is close by and at this time of year you have it mostly to yourself. The hotel spa meanwhile is a perfect spot to avoid any bad weather We ate every evening in the hotel, the 365 tasting menu was memorable and the Bistro offered excellent choices. All in all a hotel that is well worth a visit.

It was the perfect 5 days-stay. The hotel is very quite and relaxing, the staff is more than warm, friendly and familiar. Every wish one might have, it gets fullfilled. The surrounding is precious, the food excellent, the home made wines outstanding. I have been in Mallorca since ages and this is by far, the nicest hotel experience ever! Thank you all, I will be coming back!

What a fantastic experience. Great tasting menu and wine pairing in superb surrounds. I eat meat and fish but my partner is vegetarian. They were able to accommodate us both. The food was just perfect, tables spaced out nicely and lovely building and finishing touches. Would most definitely recommend for a special memorable evening

Brilliant service, fantastic food, great location and ambiance… a real gastronomic experience with real thought of the wine pairings.. .. for us veggies it was a real treat to have such a wonderful menu selection.. highly recommend a visit!

Once open a time an explicit experience. It still a nice place but totally overpriced an the room and infrastructure need a total overhaul. Food in the bistro and service was poor. Breakfast was ok. Staff in reception very nice.

We've stayed at a few of the top hotels in Mallorca and decided we didn't need the sea this time, so opted for Son Brull. So glad we did. For us it was a much needed 'recovery' break and we felt immediately cocooned on arrival. Staff were super-professional with an added warmth not always present at other hotels. Spa treatments were second to none and the women therapists all excellent and genuinely caring. Food is excellent with terrific quality ingredients and highly nutritious. We can't wait to go back.
