Do not hesitate to book Old Downton Lodge. Situated in the most beautiful part of the country way off the beaten track, this is a gem not to be missed. Exceptional food and accommodation in sympathetically converted farm buildings. The staff are amazing and Willem and Pippa excellent hosts. We took all the rooms with 16 friends, all of whom were full of praise.

Wonderful place for a short beak in the glorious Teme Valley, and good value too. Our room was characterful with flagged floors, stone walls and oak doors. Bed was massive and super comfortable. The staff were all brilliant, we were warmly greeted as soon as we pulled up and tea and coffee were quickly served while we enjoyed the sun in the garden. The bar and restaurant are a**ospheric in the old grain barn and our taster menu was great. Particularly good was the wine flight, that subsequent investigation revealed some pretty expensive wines making it super value at £60. I could not have asked for more.

The hotel and rooms are so peaceful and very tastefully decorated. We stayed in room 8 with the four poster bed which had a huge bathroom and walk in shower. Everything was so clean and well thought out. The tasting menu and wine pairing were both top notch. All staff are friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel. The vodka martinis alone are worth another visit and would highly recommend you pay this fabulous hotel a visit as we hope to stay again.

The perfect place for the last night of our holiday. The buildings & our room surpassed expectations, as did the people we met during our all too brief stay. Felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. Excellent pre dinner cocktails & some of the best wine advice we've ever received, alongside a most enjoyable evening meal in unique surroundings.

We were travelling to North Wales so decided to book a stopover to break the journey, I found Downton online and it looked great, we were not disappointed. From the first contact with a young member of staff to our departure the experience was 5 star, the room was exactly as described, warm comfortable and immaculate. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional, we will visit again for sure

Our second visit at the beginning of February did not disappoint. Literally a warm greeting with the heating on full blast in the bedroom, the lounge and the restaurant. it was good to be able to control the heating individually in our room. The food was as good and interesting as before and the staff so friendly. Pippa was very accommodating with our "on/off" arrangements and we shall return come the warmer weather to such a unique spot in the middle of nowhere. My advice is go there before the masses find out about it!

We’ve been to Old Downtown Lodge numerous times, as always the team are first class with excellent meals and lovely rooms. Despite the atrocious weather, which of course Willem can’t control, our room was warm, welcoming and very comfortable. Once again Willem was very friendly, affable and welcoming.

We had a two-night stay it was a first-class experience from start to finish. Lovely rooms in a very sympathetically restored (main) building, The bar is warm and inviting. The food was lovely, portions were generous, we went for the a la carte on the first evening and couldn't manage dessert but opted for the cheese which was excellent but one portion was too much even for two! The second evening we were going to try the set menu but again we went a la carte as we couldn't manage all the courses. Breakfast was also very good indeed clearly local produce cooked very well. Service throughout was really good with a special mention for Amy. We will certainly return.
