Romantic Hotels in Beppu

"Location is convenient, just next to Beppu railway station. The onsen ryokan interiors were very calming and welcoming. Staff was friendly and gracious to help. Room was spacious for Japan’s standards. There were time limits for the private onsens, but some did not and the staff could do nothing, thus it took some time to queue for our turn. The free ramen at supper time was of decent portion and taste. Breakfast was add-on, but well worth the price and definitely a highlight of the hotel. One thing to improve was the lingering urine and poop smell in all 3 elevators (equipped with an emergency lavatory). I think the staff placed one fragrance diffuser per elevator, but it was definitely not enough to cover the smell. Maybe need to replace or remove the lavatory?"

"The room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view."

"Everything was perfect. The location is perfect, right next to the Kawasaki bus stop. The Toyonokuni Expressway Bus makes traveling between Fukuoka Airport and Hakata Tenjin easy, much more convenient than taking the JR train. There are quite a few restaurants nearby, including a large 7-Eleven across the street and a supermarket about 700 to 800 meters away. The overall ambiance is classic Japanese, quiet and peaceful. The rooms are all single-family houses. Although the room we were assigned was slightly different from what I had seen when booking, with only a semi-open-air onsen, we were traveling with just my daughter and me, so one onsen was more than enough. The staff was very friendly and provided detailed information. The only downside was that there was a light-transmitting window above my bed, with no curtains, which caused me to wake up early every morning. However, this wasn't a big deal for me, so I give it a full rating. Highly recommended!"
