Winter vacations can be a challenge: you have to decide on the trade-off between style and being sufficiently warm (really hard to have both), your sufficiently warm outfits have to fit into your suitcase and because you don’t to make the most of your time in a new country, you have to be prepared for early morning and long days in spite of the blistering cold. Fortunately, November is a kind month for winter travel. We did carry around an extra coat much to my annoyance because I typically insist on touring light. But it wasn’t so bad. Prague! It’s everything you imagine it to be and exactly as depicted in your Instagram feed. This, as many of you know, is a rarity because filters and good angles are largely to credit for awesome vacation pics! Prague was backdrop after backdrop for the avid poser and all-round photography fanatic. The city is rather compact so commuting is easy and short. One in the center, you’re a couple of blocks or tram stops away from the next landmark and the streets are filled with nibbles like grilled sausage and doughnut cones to keep you entertained as you marvel at its spectacular Gothic and Renaissance architectural gems. Beer-batter pork with mash and hearty stews can be enjoyed all around town and pubs seemed to be busy around the clock. Give you feet a reboot by stopping for coffee and cake (and maybe charge your camera?) at one of the many cafes in Old Town. We had afternoon tea and lunch at Ginger & Fred in the Dancing House building and some fine dining options also close to the city center, which cost a fraction of what you’d pay in bigger cities. #happynewyear
