Serene Sapporo

Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, is famed for its annual Snow Festival, vibrant city life, and as a gateway to the island's stunning natural landscapes. This city offers a unique blend of urban modernity and traditional Japanese culture, set against the backdrop of seasonal beauty. Start your visit at the Sapporo Snow Festival, held every February, where you can witness the transformation of the city into a winter wonderland of intricate ice sculptures and massive snow statues. The event draws artists and visitors from around the world, creating a festive atmosphere filled with lights, music, and local cuisine. Explore Odori Park, the central artery of Sapporo, which stretches across the city center and hosts many of Sapporo's most significant events, including the Snow Festival. This expansive green space is perfect for leisurely walks and offers a breath of fresh air amidst the urban landscape. Nearby, the Sapporo TV Tower offers panoramic views of the park and surrounding city. Don't miss the chance to taste Hokkaido’s renowned fresh seafood and dairy products. Sapporo’s ramen, particularly its miso-based variety, is a must-try, along with fresh crab, scallops, and rich, creamy soft serve ice cream made from local milk. For a cultural experience, visit the Historical Village of Hokkaido, an open-air museum that recreates the pioneering days of the island with restored buildings from the Meiji and Taisho periods. It's an insightful way to understand the development of Hokkaido and its unique culture within Japan. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate Sapporo's proximity to natural attractions such as Moerenuma Park, a large sculptural park designed by Isamu Noguchi, and the nearby mountains and hot springs that offer year-round outdoor activities, from skiing in winter to hiking in summer. The best time to visit Sapporo is in the winter to experience the Snow Festival or during the summer months when the weather is milder and the natural landscapes of Hokkaido are fully accessible. Sapporo offers a charming mix of urban sophistication and rural escape, providing visitors with a unique Japanese experience characterized by scenic beauty and cultural richness. #SapporoSeasons #SnowSculptures #JapaneseJourneys #HokkaidoHighlights #CulturalContrasts #TravelJapan #UrbanSanctuary #falltrip#mytravelhacks#historicallandmarks#localguides

As the most popular winter destination in Japan, Hokkaido has so many fun places to visit that it's hard to count them all. It feels like you could play for 7 days and still not see everything. Lulu recommends a few nearby attractions that you can use as a reference for a one-day trip in Hokkaido. [Datong Park] Sapporo, Chuo-ku, Odori West 7-chome. Sapporo holds the White Illumination festival every year, and the various light decorations in Odori Park are really suitable for taking photos. There is a super atmospheric Christmas market located in West 2-chome of Odori Park called "Tairyo-mae German Sausage" and the grilled sausages and bread are really delicious! There are also various cute Christmas souvenirs worth checking out! Datong Park has a lot of activities. Just live near the park, this area belongs to the city center, on the left is Daimaru department store, JR, subway. On the right is Susukino, Mitsukoshi department store, and there is also a second-hand store with a lot of stuff. Mitsui Outlet has to be said, there is really a direct bus route 100, but I really couldn't find where to take it. The key is that there are schedules, usually every two hours. If you take a taxi from the city, it will cost about 280 RMB. However, you can experience the bus on the way back, which is also very fast. Otaru is really a quiet and beautiful place that I love. I really want to experience it on a snowy day. Also, Jigokudani is just okay, there are actually many hot spring streets, and all the hot springs in Hokkaido are authentic and worth experiencing. ❤️Recommendation reason: [Sapporo TV Tower] Japan, Sapporo City, Chuo Ward, Odori West 1-chome. Sapporo's famous 90-meter-high TV tower in the city center offers a panoramic view of the entire city, allowing you to experience the prosperity and romance of this city. The surrounding area is the core commercial district, and transportation is super convenient! [Tanukikoji Shopping Street] Japan, Sapporo City, Chuo Ward Sapporo's Tanukikoji Shopping Arcade is one of the oldest shopping streets in Hokkaido. It stretches 900 meters from 1-chome to 7-chome and offers clothing stores, restaurants, drugstores, izakayas, kimono shops, and more. You can spend a whole day shopping, eating, and experiencing Japanese purikura for just 600 yen.
