Nice hotel in a quiet location. Check in was simple enough but we did feel pressured to pre-book times for breakfast and facilities on the spot. I understand in the really busy periods, booking is probably a good idea but there was us and maybe 2 other cars in the car park. The place was dead but we still had to book a breakfast slot. Room was clean and had a nice view, the complimentary chocolates and Port left in the room was a nice touch! Wasn't much in the surrounding area but we wanted a quiet couple of nights and we definitely got that.

I don't know where to start really. The whole experience at Vidago Palace was truly perfect. From every member of staff, food in all the restaurants/bar, bedrooms where I had the best 4 nights sleep that I had in ages, the grounds and the excursions. If you want a special holiday or short escape, visit here. You won't be disappointed.

The hotel is a very good location. There are very good facilities, perfect cleaning in all the rooms. The rooms are large and comfortable bed, coats and bedrooms of very good quality. The rooms are large and many sofas, with a beautiful terrace and a beautiful view.

Very good stay, recommendable, pity the current situation we are in, we cannot enjoy everything that we are allowed in a normal situation. From the Hotel nothing to point out, excellent staff, dinner, good diversified breakfast. Hygiene under the circumstances seemed good to me! A small alert to those who wish to purchase services with TRIP.COM They are excellent to sell, but then to assist the buyer only and simply they do not answer or respond more concretely, they do not exist! We were looking for a quiet place, with a pool and outside the tourist area. This hotel is. Very good swimming pools, SPA treatments and food (not spectacular but acceptable). The only thing we missed was some background music in the recreation areas. We will come back for sure.

La verdad es que hay cosas buenas y cosas no tanto. El personal muy amable y la comida muy rica, buen buffet de desayuno y un dia comimos y rico. La habitación estaba bien aunque el baño era bastante pequeño y la ducha tenía moho. Además habíamos reservado una habitación Deluxe y nos dieron una twin normal y tras hablarlo con recepción no pudieron hacer nada porque ya estaban ocupadas las deluxe. Desde Agoda, que es con quien habíamos reservado, un servicio excelente, súper atentos y nos dieron una compensación por las molestias. El hotel está a las afueras de la localidad, lejos del centro, tiene piscina que se agradece porque hacia calor, te dan toallas... le pongo normal porque había cosas buenas y malas ..

Adoramos a experiência, por isso, voltaremos mais vezes. Gostamos muito de tudo, desde o quarto, piscinas, jacuzzi, o pequeno-almoço e o jantar. Tem também a vantagem de estar a poucos metros das termas/balneário de Vidago. É só subir a rua. Estivemos 3 noites. Parabéns e muito obrigada por tudo. Até à próxima!

The hotel is very well located and has stunning views from the terraces. Our room was street side but quiet. The half board program was excellent. Dinner included couvert, wine, salad or soup, main and dessert. Excellent! Breakfast was typical but everything was fresh and plenty to choose from. We did not need air conditioning and were fine with the window ajar. The Wi-Fi was the only drawback as it tended to be spotty.

A 4* hotel that could say quickly that looks at the 5th because it was deserved, at least for my very positive stay. A hotel located in a quiet and quite parking place, being a quality, modern and appealing place. The rooms are modern and comfortable, only with light on the roof, not enough furniture, I see. I had a good bed, TV channels, modern toilets and bathrooms, at the bottom, everything was excellent. In the hotel itself, it is highlighted a very good gym for a hotel, a very large pool, but that lessons to children make the time of leisure less pleasant, because of the noise. Finally, the hotel itself is very pleasant with minimalist details, but it is modern and functional, where breakfast is also a positive variable in the face of the diversity that is found and fresh food.

As the name implies the hotel is right by the castle and within easy walking distance of the sights and the Roman bridge. Parking is available immediately under the hotel with a lift. Our bedroom 105 was large, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was good. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. Very good value at €85 b&b.

I was stunned by this hotel. Set in rural Portugal, near the Spanish border, this spa resort is beautiful. Very modern, clean, well equipped throughout, incredibly welcoming staff and superb food in the restaurant. The hotel is the perfect mix of old and new as it is set on an old vineyard, with modern extensions which complement the original 1700's building. Outside the back side is a huge stone terrace which extends the whole width of the 1700's original building with views of the mountains and spa pool and beautiful gardens. The old part of the hotel is magnificent, but we also enjoyed the comfort of our modern room which had a huge terrace overlooking the valley. Everyone working there was friendly and efficient, and the owner spoke English perfectly. I would really recommend this place to anyone visiting northern Portugal. It made for a great relaxing break for my older parents in there 80’s to relax and enjoy the slower pace from Lisbon and before moving on to Porto on a 12 day vacation. The attention to detail and 'nothing's a problem' attitude from everyone we come into contact with is just exceptional. The breakfast is plentiful and has a great selection. We were very happy with the breakfast which offered a large variety of fruit and breads, cheese, ham, several types of jam, as well as cereal and yogurt. The evening meals are so good that you can't stop eating! The manager/owner, Fernando, is the most gracious host that will attend to your every need, while assuring your quality experience is filled with lasting memories and a strong desire to return again. In the evenings we dined in the hotel restaurant. Fernando was truly a phenomenal host, who made us feel welcome. On one of the evenings, he started us off with local sausages and cheese along with some local port from the local vineyard. He made excellent recommendations for our wines and did not disappoint with his selections. The food was delicious. We ate there every night for 4 nights, and everything kept meeting and exceeding our expectations. The beef is something that the region is known for, and it was delicious. Fernando also took us on a tour of the impressive 17th century wine making that uses filtration and gravity. The preservation of the original wine making is located in the lower area that is used for wedding receptions and large parties. The way it is incorporated into the new modern areas was impressive. I will be visiting Portugal in the future and will be re-visiting Fernando's Hotel Rural Casas Novas. We truly enjoyed our stayed here while we visited local vineyards, Chaves and Peneda-Geres National Park.
