The Morgan Library & Museum
J.P. Morgan's private library and residence, a sturdy three-story building with a basement.
Mr. Morgan was a figure of the 1880s, and he himself was an internal medicine doctor;
First, you enter the 'Seeds of Knowledge' exhibition hall, where these hand-drawn botanical manuscripts from European England🇬🇧, France🇫🇷, Germany🇩🇪 were the study🧐 of herbs🌿 by royal physicians and surgeons, internal and external. Thick volumes, all manuscripts, these doctors all had their own health plant gardens, called: Garden of Health, linking plant knowledge with biology.
Mr. Morgan's study from over a hundred years ago, with its deep red walls, dim lighting, ancient murals, thick carpets, warm fireplace, high-hanging chandeliers, the study itself is like an art treasure, as if traveling back to the aristocratic families of over a hundred years ago.
In books, one finds a golden house, room after room, large studies with smaller ones nested within, primarily featuring book manuscripts, tens of thousands of medieval book illustrations and manuscripts, and precious editions from the dawn of Western printing, including prints and sketch manuscripts by da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, as well as Beethoven's manuscripts.
The library showcases Morgan's various collections, a large number of rare books, medieval and Renaissance artworks and illustrated manuscripts, like the three Gutenberg Bibles, which were the first books printed on the printing press in 1455.
As chairman of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Morgan traveled to Egypt, the Middle East, and Greece, entering the hot desert🏜️, speculating that ancient Egypt, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Nile River basin had active trade, and Morgan was seeking business opportunities, his business acumen was strengthened.
Learning is a lifelong process, had we known such a holy place, we would have headed straight here upon our early arrival in America
When I heard that this treasure classical museum in Midtown New York has a rich library collection museum, I immediately added it to the punch list, and after shopping, I immediately upgraded to New York's favorite Top3 museum series, whether it is the appearance of the museum or the exhibits inside. It's a surprise. Such a spectacular museum is the famous private collection of J. P. Morgan, and there are many of his donations in the Metropolitan Museum. Seeing the library of books on a grand scale, I instantly realized the true meaning of the old saying that the book has its own golden house. The museum itself is also very architectural, from the famous Italian architect Renzo Piano, the library and the museum itself are very cleverly integrated together, the classical library, looking up is full of books, with deep red printed walls and velvet curtains, Full of literary temperament, it must be a different kind of enjoyment to read here
New York's favorite niche museum series, this Morgan Library and Museum built in 1906, originally a private library, opened to the public in 1924. It is hard to believe that the private library that was such a huge library before was the financier J P Morgan who famously founded JPMorgan Chase Bank. After entering, one can not help but feel that knowledge is power. The current museums are the old Morgan residence, the former residence of the little Morgan, and the exhibition hall supervisor. The three buildings are expanded, and the three former residences are connected to each other with a glass atrium, forming the current Morgan Museum.
Practical tips1⃣️ Every Friday from 7 to 9 pm free entry to 😍, and it is 400 meters from the Empire State Building, 500 meters from the Central Station, Broadway 9, Times Square, Rockefeller Center are only a little more than 1 km away. When you design the itinerary, you can pay attention to 😁. Two hours of reading this library is enough. 2⃣️ Food can't be brought in. My little friend bought a pizza 🍕 (yes, a whole one). In the end, there was no place to store her. I could only wait for me at Starbucks diagonally opposite. There was no Chinese explanation or Chinese explanation. I don't know how envious you people who pass the English customs ☹️
This is a very delicate museum. The exhibits are well-organized and the explanations are perfect. There are many impressive exhibitions of literature, music and manuscripts. This Museum has a very authoritative position in studying JP Morgan's deeds, so here you can enjoy his beautiful works and understand his daily life.
Morgan used part of his vast wealth to achieve this spectacular collection of art, which is now housed in libraries and museums with his name. In addition to the permanent collection, when we were there, we liked to borrow works from the Swedish National Museum, especially (among other things) six Rembrandt drawings. Don't miss it: J.P. Morgan's private library almost retains the style of his mansion at the time, and the paintings of the fifteenth century or the Renaissance. If you want to find a tour guide, there's plenty here. There are also excellent gift shops, separate shops that offer plenty of art books, an attractive Cafe (we don't eat there). Overall impression: Great Collection - not the Metropolis or the Louvre, but it's worth your time.
