Colombo Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
It is a train that many people come to, and is the prototype of a scene in "Spirited Away" by Grandpa Miyazaki. In the past few days, the weather in Sri Lanka began to cloud in the bright afternoon, as if the sky was under pressure, and the waves on the beach were particularly high. I can't squeeze this small train in Sri Lanka, then I can only take a picture. On the speeding train, the Sri Lankan people can still wave with us and don't want to leave the country.

Located in Colombo, Sri Lanka, a high value and cost-effective niche specialty hotel, declined to smash the street hype network red hotel.
Specialty hotels in Sri Lanka tend to be more like a homestay. Only the price of a homestay can enjoy the high-end hotel-style services of owner, butler, breakfast, etc., and can better penetrate the local customs.
The highest value in the journey and the highest level of compulsion is the special private hotel called Annthma that we live in Colombo on New Year's Day.
The owner of the hotel is a young woman. According to her, the hotel was designed entirely by her mother. Its no exaggeration to describe this private hotel with stunning. Its amazing to just take a picture of the camera and forget about it. The shopping bags with souvenirs are all in the hotel until you leave. The hotel is hidden in the "grass" on the side of the road about 15 minutes drive from the city center. There are less than 10 rooms in total, but there are many restaurants, gardens, swimming pools, fish ponds and halls. The arrangement is clear. The design, color scheme, layout and style of each room are different, and the breakfast is very hearty and delicious. The entire hotel is exquisite to every detail, showing the designer's intentions.

God's tears, Ceylon smile, here is Sri Lanka. Everyone here meets a smile, and when they see you lift the camera, they will show the most sincere smile in the corner of their mouth. Basically tell them that they can take pictures? No one will reject you, except for very few people who are rarely shy, this is a very small probability.
In the ten days of coming to Sri Lanka, every day is accompanied by a smile.

First check-in at Shangri-La Colombo, another day indulging in the hotel
Years later, I came to Colombo again, the city is still the same as before, the sky is still warm, the sunlight weaves the colorful Sri Lankan blue, the smiles of the locals are still the same, exuding unique enthusiasm, as if time has stopped here. Fortunately, I found that there is a Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo this time, the consistent quality of service has solved my quality requirements for accommodation.
I am fond of such destinations, full of strong regional culture, during the day you can immerse yourself in the market, feeling the exotic world, and when night falls, I prefer to return to the high-quality urban life. Every night in Shangri-La satisfies my longing for urban life. For me, enjoying every night is the best travel life.

Shangri-La Hotel Colombo Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The first surprise of the trip to Sri Lanka came from the "Shangri-La" that Colombo met. It is expected that the hard work of rushing, but here I feel the internationalization level of Sri Lanka.
The Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo is located on Galle Face Green Terrace, Galle Fes 1, which is the historical core of Colombo. Open the window and you can feel the wind from the Indian Ocean, and enjoy the Indian Ocean and Bella. The stunning views of the lake and the city. This picture is the official map of the hotel. I looked at the shooting angle and should have taken it with a drone at sea. Unless otherwise stated, they are all from the hands of Salsa. Inspired by the Shangri-La Asian elegance and Sri Lankan nature, the inspirational design creates a new level of luxury in the country. The chandeliers in the lobby of the hotel echo the positioning of the natural kingdom of Sri Lanka. Below is a flower wall like a flower shop, like the Hehua flower basket sent by God. All the guests who enter the store will be captivated by it and take photos with them.

Dinner was settled in the theme restaurant and bar Kaema Sutra, which is the same as the 50th Millennium of Crab in Asian Restaurant, the same Boss Colombo chef Dharshan Munidasa. The founder and chef have long studied and cultured food culture in Japan and Southeast Asia. He combines Sri Lanka's most representative and delicious crabs, authentic local practices into international mainstream tastes, and perfectly integrates with the fashion and petty dining environment. . In Shangri-La, you can experience the authentic taste of Sri Lanka.

🇱🇰 Blue Whale Specimen @ Colombo Museum
The National Museum of Natural History in Colombo was established in 1986. The museum is situated in same premises as Colombo National Museum. It is the only natural heritage museum in Sri Lanka which displays plants and animal specimens endemic to the island country. The museum houses a large collection of specimens such as nammals, birds, reptiles, insects, fish, amphibians, as well as plants and geological Rocks.
One of the main highlights of the display is a 65 feet (about 20 metres) blue whale specimen which washed up on the shore of Ambalangoda in 1894. It was such an eye-opening experience to see the skeleton of the largest mammal on earth up close.

The National Museum of Sri Lanka, which records various artifacts from prehistoric times to various historical periods. The
National Museum also has a natural museum with a lot of animal and plant specimens. You can find mosquitoes that are about the same size as your little ones, and you can see specimens of all kinds of snakes.
But in the hot Sri Lanka, the National Museum actually has no air conditioning. This is what I didn't expect. The big fan blew in every exhibition room, and the two-story white building with high and high height let you inside. Walking did not get hot to the point of collapse.
The museum has an enlarged version of the mural on the Lion Rock. This time I finally saw it clearly. It was so refined.
There are some independent painters on the street outside the museum to sell their paintings. Its good to take a closer look. The overall price is not high...

Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
🇱🇰 Stunning Red Mosque in Pettah Market
Completed in 1909, Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Colombo. It is located on Second Cross Street in Pettah District, where you can find one of the the largest and busiest open-air markets in Sri Lanka. It is undeniable that the red mosque painted in distinctive red and white striped is the most beautiful landmark in the area.
The mosque can be easily reached by both bus and tuk-tuk. Visitors regardless of gender and religion can visit the mosque during certain timings. Remember to dress modestly. The mosque is surrounded by wthe always crowded Pettah Market. A walk through the busy streets filled with merchants selling all kinds of goods is quite an experience itself.

Pluck 🌿 the pink mosque 🕌 in Colombo.
📍Detailed address: Near Pettah Market, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
🌈Highlight features:
✅The Red Mosque 🕌 was built in 1908 and is one of the landmark buildings in Colombo.
✅This is a red and white brick building that stands out in the bustling Beta district.
✅It is said that in the early 20th century, many sailors who came to Sri Lanka used it to identify whether they were at the port of Colombo.
✅A place that many people come to Colombo to check in, personally I think it is very worth visiting.
📌Small Tips:
✅When we went there, the mosque was having a prayer and only open to men. We couldn't go inside because it's a mosque🕌. Female tourists seem to have a special entrance, but they can't go inside the innermost area. So we just took some photos outside and left.
✅Encountered a travel photographer helping a handsome guy take photos.
💰Average spending per person: Admission: not required
🚗Transportation guide: Tuk-tuk or app-based taxi
⏳Playtime: about 1 hour
📝Attention tips: Beware of small ❤️ scammers!!!
It's amazing that we even encountered a wild tour guide. A very enthusiastic local saw that we didn't go in and ran over to greet us, pulling out a map and chatting away. The world isn't that kind, I don't believe there are such kind-hearted people.
