Shanghai Christian Jingling Church (North Gate)

Jingling Church is a Christian church on Kunshan Road, built in the 1920s. It is a red brick Gothic-style building. The church is built along the street of Kunshan Road. It is not special from the architectural facilities, but he has a special historical background, so it is also one of the famous churches in Shanghai. Jinglingtang, formerly known as Jinglintang, is still the famous brand on its building, named after the American Christian missionary Lin Lezhi. The church has a deep roots with the Song family in Shanghai. There are seats specially reserved for Song Meiling and his mother. Song Meiling was baptized here, and later Chiang Kai-shek was baptized in this church. And the wedding of Jiang Song and the two were also held in this church. Jinglingtang, located at No. 135 Kunshan Road, Shanghai, is the second church founded by the Southern Supervisory Council in Shanghai. It was completed in 1923. Song Qingling's father, Song Yao, was a pastor. The pointed arch windows on the north and west facades of the building are Gothic. Plane Latin cross. The main entrance facade is composed of three symmetrically arranged gables; the middle gables have pointed arch windows through two floors. It was named Jingling Hall in honor of Lin Lezhi, the famous missionary of the Society and the founder of the Chinese and Western College. After 1924, it was presided over by the pastor Jiang Changchuan. Song Yaoru's family belonged to the church. Song Meiling attended the Jinglingtang choir[1] and so Chiang Kai-shek was baptized here in 1930, and his name was listed on the list of the church. It was closed during the Cultural Revolution in 1966 and the church was damaged. When the gathering resumed in 1979, the northern guild hall of the original Seventh-day Adventist Church of Wujin Road was restored as the joint church of christian christian in hongkou district. Soon after, due to the increase of too many believers and the place was too crowded, it was changed to Jingling Hall in 1980 and the northern guild hall was rented out; in 1981, Jingling Hall was renamed Jingling Hall.
