CBH The Feathers Hotel & Restaurant ★★★★

"The Feathers is well located in the centre of Ludlow and is an old building that is full of charm. However, this also means that it is a bit of a rabbit warren inside, making it challenging to find your way around the long, branching corridors - a definite nightmare in event of a fire. The carpark was full when we arrived, despite it being much larger than I expected, but there was a council carpark behind the hotel and only a short walk away, which was free from 6pm to 8am, which is very convenient. Our bed was large, clean and comfortable and the room was well resourced: tea and coffee making facilities with a wide range of teas and milks; complimentary canned water in the mini fridge; iron and ironing board; plenty of sockets including USB, at the bedside and a variety of products in the bathroom, though no toothpaste which was the one thing we'd forgotten to pack! One of the spoons was dirty, hence only 4 stars for cleanliness. The guest wifi was strong and easy to access. We didn't have time to use the reception areas downstairs, but they looked beautifully presented and were full of character, offering a very attractive space to have a drink or meal. Staff at reception were pleasant and professional."

Traveling with friends
Old Downton Lodge ★★★★★

"My girlfriend and I are from the US and were spending a week traveling through the UK and we booked two nights at Old Downton Lodge. We knew absolutely nothing about it when we made the reservation and what a wonderful surprise we were in for! Our plan was to arrive around 5:00 PM, check in, and enjoy a relaxing dinner. Unfortunately, the traffic had other plans for us. We called ahead to let them know that we probably wouldn’t arrive until around 8:00 PM and were told not to worry that the restaurant was open until 8:30 PM. When we finally arrived at 8:15 PM, we drove into the most beautiful, quaint setting. Before we had even parked, we were greeted in the driveway by a lovely young woman. I jumped out of the car, frantic that we were going to miss dinner, and told her we would leave our suitcases in the car and go straight to the restaurant. She immediately put us at ease, assuring us that the chef would wait for us. She then welcomed us into the most beautiful and inviting guest room we have ever experienced. We knew immediately that the next two nights were going to be very special. The owners have taken such great care to create a place where guests feel truly at home, while still experiencing something unique and special. I could go on and on about the beautiful room, the peaceful setting, the wonderful food and drinks, and, most of all, the people who go out of their way to make sure their guests feel welcomed and cared for. But, honestly, you have to stay at Old Downton Lodge to fully appreciate what they have created in such a beautiful corner of the UK. And the value is exceptional. The price is more than reasonable and includes a delicious English breakfast served in what was once the granary - a perfect way to start the day. We were only there for two nights, but we left wishing we could have stayed much longer. The next time we are in the UK, we will absolutely make it a point to return to Old Downton Lodge, spend a few days relaxing, and explore more of the surrounding area. What a truly special place. We feel very fortunate to have discovered it!"

Travelodge Ludlow ★★★

"It's a 20 minute walk into Ludlow centre. Suited us as we like walking. There's a nice pub right next door. They serve food, including breakfast from 9 a.m There's also a petrol station and a Co-op only yards away. The co-op opens early and also serves hot food. Croissants, bacon rolls etc. Plenty of pubs and eating places in Ludlow town."
