This resort/conference grounds is in a great location, and has extensive walking paths through the woods (make sure you know what poison oak looks like!). My husband and I like our longs walks so that part was nice, although the trails are not well marked. However, the room was very small---no place to sit except the bed--and smelled like very old funky carpet. For the price we were very disappointed in the room. Mini fridge was provided, but no microwave--very inconvenient not to be able to even heat up a cup of coffee. They offered to rent me a microwave for $15/day!! Seems very unreasonable, especially because the restaurant on-site was only open for dinner. Luckily town was only a 10 minute drive away. We also had a terrible experience in their supposedly ”nice” restaurant. Terrible service, food was bland, and when they brought our bill she handed us TWO tickets--she had rung up someone else's dinners on my credit card in addition to ours! Wouldn't you notice when you handed someone two credit card bills at one table? The staff did not seem very concerned about this at all (maybe they make mistakes like that frequently??). Very shabby treatment. I lived in Santa Cruz for 10 years some time ago, and I know the property has been there a very long time---they think the have a reputation as 'top-shelf' resort in the area, but I would definitely disagree.

Let me remind you that this hotel has no door, so you can't put things in the car when parking, it is very unsafe, there is no door, there is no doorman and hotel administrator. I just lost my stuff and put it in the car. There may be outsiders like the tramp entering this parking lot. The hotel room is near the curb, my room is on the curb, so. The noise is there and the room is small. The beds are very good, the beds are large, there are coffee makers, microwaves and refrigerators. The facilities are relatively complete. The bathrooms have high water pressure and the baths are comfortable. Hotel facilities are too old. Cleaning service is normal. The help desk can also basically answer your questions. My only bad experience is that the things I put in the car have been stolen, and I still report it to the local police station. I asked to return the room without consent.

My first Fairfield experience for just one night using my Platinum status with Marriott. The check-in was very pleasant and the staff on duty were indeed very nice and hospitable. Room was nice and spacious which made the family feel happy. Appreciated a bath tub in our 2 Queen Room. Parking was in a gated covered garage which felt very safe and secure. Loved the experience at the pool. Was a good size and very clean. Hot tub was a plus point. Gym was small but function for just a short stay. Breakfast the next morning was great. We had an excellent stay! We live in Silicon Valley and go to Santa Cruz all the time. Occasionally we stay overnight. We have tried a few places and I loved Ocean Pacific Lodge. I booked a room with two king beds and didn't realize that it was two rooms with a king bed in each room as well as a tv in each room. The bathroom and sink area separated the two rooms. This was a delightful surprise as I had forgotten my earplugs and my husband's snoring usually has us in two separate rooms due to lack of sleep on my part! The hotel actually had cute little bags in the bedrooms with earplugs so I might have been okay. The toiletries could have been a little better with shampoo and conditioner. There were shower caps, soap, shower gel, lotion. The bathroom had a huge jacuzzi as well as a shower stall and toilet. The sink area was outside of the bathroom which is always convenient when he is showering and I am trying to put on makeup. The room(s) were clean and everything worked. It was quiet. The beds were super comfortable. We went to sleep with me watching what I wanted on my tv and him in the other room enjoying the whole bed to himself watching what he wanted on tv. It was a great stay and it will definitely be the place we go to each overnight getaway we do. Some people I read complained about it being slightly outdated and overpriced. That is ANY coastal town for the most part. You are going to pay for the location. Santa Cruz is full of motels and inns. Everything is overpiced and for the most part, everything looks like it needs a major facelift. Ocean Pacific Lodge is in a fantastic location as it's a short walk to the wharf and boardwalk and a short walk downtown. You are in a good middle place that feels safe. It's easy to find and to get in and out of. Highly recommend.

Spacious rooms with a giant kitchen and eating area separated with a door. Reminds me of an apartment from my younger days. I travel for business a lot and am spoiled from nice hotels so it's a dicey gamble when I decide to book a cheap one. We were prepared to leave if it was terrible. For the price we were worried. It was great! They could definitely charge more. There was a little visible wear, like paint bubbles or a cracked tile, but the place was super clean, bathroom was nice. I had no complaints. It was better than I expected for the price. Having the full kitchen to make drinks and snacks in was a bonus. I've stayed here twice now and won't hesitate to again. By the way, no issues with homeless. Some locations in Santa Cruz struggle with that but I didn't see any issues here. Easy parking. Drug store and sushi across the street, and a quick Uber to downtown where our concert was. Check in/out was quick and easy.

The front desk is Indian, but it may be Latin American, they still can't get out. The attitude at the front desk is still good. The motel is relatively small with only a total of more than 20 rooms. The room is small, but the bath is hot enough. However, the quilt on the bed was covered with a blanket directly, which made people feel uncomfortable because they didn't know how to dry. We don't like the fancy quilt, it's still white, and at least we can't see it clean. There are many places to eat when the hotel goes out for about 800 meters. It doesn't matter if you don't have breakfast. The location of the hotel is still good.

Don’t ever pay more than $100 for this hotel. The photos online make the place seem simple and modern, and while I can tell they tried with some furniture upgrades (a bathroom mirror with integrated lighting, a desk with power and USB outlets), the building and rooms are very old, dirty, and have thin walls. The night we stayed the prices were listed at $360. Combined with the photos we saw online, we thought we were getting a decent place near downtown Santa Cruz, but we were in complete disbelief when we got the keys to our room. First... the room was just plain dark. There was no main lighting and the 1 light switch by the door didn’t work. No wonder because despite the room being pretty large, it had next to no furniture and no lights except for the 2 lamps by the bed. 1 of the 2 didn’t work. So we had 1 bathroom light and 1 bed light working. In hindsight that might have been intentional because there were dents, plastered holes in the walls, and even a cracked doorframe which was only visible from the inside with sunlight. It also didn’t help they had several rowdy groups checked in as well who were partying though the night. The walls are thin. You can hear the balcony doors sliding and their voices, music, etc. And when they let their door slam shut, it really reverberates through to the floor. I get the feeling this is the type of crowd they usually get here. Which isn’t the fault of the hotel itself but when paired with poor noise insulation, it’s surprising they don’t have cops over every night. The bed had clean sheets. That’s 1 good thing in their favor. And the receptionists we did talk to were friendly and tried to help, but management would only allow a partial refund and were not available to address the issue in person. Even with the partial refund we were still paying over $200 in total. The place is definitely not worth the price tag and I hope no one ever comes here because even if they’re a decent budget hotel, any hotel that runs a scam and marks up the prices that high and claims a quality they cannot offer doesn’t deserve to book anyone.

Let’s face it, finding a decent hotel room in a tourist town for under $150 is hard to find. I paid $130 and felt that since the hotel was clean and the man at reception was friendly it was money well spent for the night. Parking was free but a little tight. I had two beds in my room and a bath/shower. Sheets were clean, air conditioner worked, microwave and fridge worked, bed was a little hard but it’s a Motel 9....I would definitely come here again when I’m trying to save money. Should this place be under $100? For sure, but everything is getting more expensive...
