Have stayed here on two visits to Colombo. The old mansion has good service, because it arrived early, the customer service lady also helped to apply for early check-in. This time the room has a very large terrace. It is not too hot this season.

A comfortable bed, nicely sized room, beautiful property, convenient location, such friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast are just some basic memorable facts about our stay for 3 nights. The bakery downstairs, Plates restaurant, and the mall next door just add on to the comfort of the stay at Cinnamon Grand. To top it all off, we upgraded our stay to the executive floor, and accessed the lounge to enjoy a variety of mouth-watering snacks (that changed everyday) and took 2 free laundry/day offering. It couldn't get any better!

Extremely satisfied! I was given a high-floor room very close to the sea. The room was spacious with a private balcony. The power outlets were universal, compatible with domestic plugs, so no extra adapters were needed. Water, mini-bar drinks, and snacks were replenished daily. The hotel is connected to its own mall, where the food court was very convenient. The rooftop boasts an infinity pool, a green recreational area, and a sauna. The day before check-out, the hotel even left a thank-you note and a bag of their specialty tea on the bed. The service from the hotel lobby, breakfast staff, and cleaning crew was excellent. If I visit Colombo again, I'd likely choose this hotel.

The 20-meter saltwater pool, right on the Indian Ocean, is simply fantastic for relaxing when the sea is rough. As I mentioned, the rooms are styled from the 1960s-70s, and you even get the charming creak of the floors and stairs. The hotel team clearly puts a lot of effort into maintaining the property against the forces of time and the ocean's weather. The dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a story in itself. You can explore not just local cuisine, but dishes from across South Asia. The rooftop at Granbell is a standout. The infinity pool is a great place to watch the sunset from. Get there early as it does get busy. Pool bar also well laid out. The rooms facing the ocean are worth it. It feels like you’re on top of the ocean. High ceilings majestic the rooms feel large. Not a smart TV with only local stations. I’m on holidays so I didn’t mind. The staff are friendly and super helpful. The breakfast is large offering all types of international breakfast options. The only criticism would be the fruit was not the best. Considering you’re in the tropics, I’d expect better. Location is great. Close to Galle green, pharmacy and supermarket.

I recently stayed at the Ramada by Wyndham Colombo, and overall it was a wonderful experience. The room was extremely spacious, honestly one of the largest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in within Colombo. Everything was very clean and well maintained, and the amenities were excellent. The room included everything you might need—tea and coffee facilities, toiletries, toothbrushes, and more. The bed was very large and comfortable, and the TV, office table was huge as well. All the facilities such as the lights, air conditioning, and fan worked perfectly, so we had no issues at all. Our room was on the 8th floor (top floor) and we had a nice view overlooking the Galle Face Hotel with a small view of the ocean. The location of the hotel is also excellent since it is very close to Galle Face Green and many other attractions in Colombo, which makes it very convenient for travelers. The check-in process was smooth, and they welcomed us with a refreshing welcome drink. One thing to note is that the security procedure is quite strict. When we had guests visiting our room briefly, they had to provide their IDs and go through a security check. It was the first time I experienced this in a hotel, but it is understandable since it helps maintain safety. Although we booked bed and breakfast, we later asked if we could add the dinner buffet, but unfortunately it was already full. However, something very kind happened later that night. My mother wanted chicken congee, so we asked the room service staff if it was available. Even though it was not on the menu at that moment, they were kind enough to prepare and send us a bowl of chicken congee. It was a very thoughtful gesture, and we truly appreciated their kindness. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a very wide variety of food, and everything we tried was delicious. My family has always liked the buffets at Ramada, and this time was no different. They also had live cooking stations, and the staff there were very friendly and welcoming. Overall, everything about the stay was great. The room, service, location, and food were all excellent. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel. It is absolutely worth the price and offers great value for money.

The grand oriental hotel did not live up to its name. Sure, this would have been grand in the 18 or 1900’s, but its glory days are way past that - this hotel badly needs a major renovation and updated interior design. There are many things and items in this hotel that must never be reused again - they must be thrown away, never to see daylight again! Examples of such are: the ultra worn out sofa that have seen better bums, the discoloured sheets, the wooden furnishings chipping off. Jose rizal might have stayed here fashionably in the past, but the current interiors indeed look like they stayed the same from the 1800s. Alas, there is also an insect problem or infestation that the management needs to take care of. Cleanliness was an issue. To give credit to the staff, they were professional, warm, and friendly - embodying true Sri Lankan hospitality.

Extremely satisfied 👍. After the chain bombings in '19, the security measures here are truly commendable; I didn't expect such strict security checks. Shang Palace is as delicious as ever, and the chef even came out to greet us, which was lovely! Our room faced the sea, and we enjoyed two beautiful sunsets! The second floor has direct access to the mall, with all the tourist-favorite brands located near the hotel. Since my flight was late, the hotel allowed me a late check-out. I really love this Shangri-La!

I stayed one night in a premium city view room. The street on the restaurant side of the hotel seemed lively with a band playing, but we were on the bank side, so it was quiet at night and we slept very well. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast is available at the downstairs restaurant for an extra charge, but there are many places around to get breakfast, so not having it included wasn't an issue at all. My phone charger type didn't match, so I tried to borrow one from the front desk, but they told me the hotel didn't have any and to buy one at Peta Market. The market is about a 10-minute walk, but I'd recommend taking a tuk-tuk if you go at night as the street can be a bit daunting to walk alone. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first floor, and the food was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. Overall, it's a hotel with good value for money.

This hotel is in a great location. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. The room is large and the bed seemed clean. That is where the positives end, unfortunately. Upon arrival, very late at night, after a long trip. There were no towels in the room. Too exhausted to rectify, we just went to sleep without a shower. The hotel has an off smell about it, a bit like wet carpet. The cleanliness is questionable. Some mould. It seems it is not thoroughly cleaned. Frequently. Our room was not attended to, so we didn't receive fresh water. If you need to get work done while at the hotel don't book here. The WiFi is intermittent and would only work on my phone, not laptop. Therefore it's not suitable for any online workers. The toiletries were less than those advertised. Body lotion, shampoo and body wash are all that are provided. There is an ironing board...but no iron. Why? The hairdryer is one of those models you must continually hold down the button for it to work. It would work for only around 5 minutes and then would shut off and then had to wait 5 minutes for it to cool down to use again
