We were given the smaller room amongst the newly refurbished selection ie no separate lounge area and only one sink in the bathroom instead of a his and hers. It’s a wonderful room nonetheless, full fledged minibar and fancy finishes but two things really annoyed me: 1. The shower is splendid but even though you close the door, the water spills out onto the whole bathroom floor nonetheless and this is a crucial design mistake 2. The LCD buttons are way too complicated, there’s no logic in how to turn what lights on and off, how to open the curtains in the morning and turn the heat down. Sometimes we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. But overall the hotel is a historical luxury on prime location.

A pleasant experience. The hotel has a superb location, just a 10-minute walk from Red Square. There are many shops nearby. It's an old, historic building, but the facilities are complete and convenient, including toiletries, slippers, and water. Great value for money. The only downside is the poor WiFi; I'm not sure if it was due to signal interference from drones in Moscow during those days. Also, it would be perfect if the carpet could be vacuumed daily.

The bathroom was quite roomy, though the shower stall itself was a tad small. My only real complaint is that the fridge was broken – my ice cream melted! Also, the closet door was a bit saggy and scraped the floor, making it hard to open and close. On the bright side, breakfast was plentiful and varied, and I loved the Chinese signs; that was a nice touch.

The location is great, the city center is only 2 subway stops away from the Red Square and the business district CBD. Of course, we walk to the Red Square is also a way to roam Moscow. It is only 5 minutes away from the subway station. It is next to the Moscow River. If it is spring, summer or autumn, you can walk along the river at night. The hotel is facing another hotel, next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, facing Arbat Street, and downstairs are famous restaurants in Moscow, including Japanese, Western and bars. There are shopping malls and supermarkets on the way to the subway, and there is also a very famous White Rabbit Restaurant (it is said that you have to wear a dress to eat) The front desk is on the 4th floor and speaks English. There is a gym and restaurant upstairs. You need to swipe your card to enter the room area on the floor, and it is safe. It is worth mentioning that the small bed in Moscow should be reminded to ask for 2 separate beds, otherwise it will be a 1.5-meter big bed (double room)
