First, the positives. The room was very nice, and the small kitchenette was perfect. But then, checking in was a complete disaster. Without an access code (which I was not sent!!!), nothing works. There's no reception or anyone to help. I had to call a hotline in Zurich that only spoke English. There might be people renting a hotel in Berlin who don't speak English, you know! This definitely needs to be improved, especially since you're standing in front of a locked hotel door, with luggage, just glad to have arrived, and then no one can help... After they finally sent me the room code, I still couldn't get into the room. The code only activates precisely at 3 PM. So I had to stand in front of the room for 30 minutes and wait, even though the room was ready. The room wasn't cleaned for 4 days, and the towels weren't changed. Also, check-out is disproportionately early. The room has to be vacated by 10 AM. The cleaning lady already knocked just before 10 AM. I think that's far too early. In short – the rooms are very nice, the location (5 minutes from Alexanderplatz) is great, but the service is a catastrophe...

Location is amazing, the check-in was a bit confusing but after calling with customer care all was solved, for some reason I haven't received the login code and it was not really clear that the accesscode downstairs was also the accesscode to the rooms. My room was close to the street, and it was very loud due to heavy traffic, which gave me a bad sleep. Windows had to be open because of the heat outside, and missing airconditioning. Ventilation was provided by Vission appartments but it was not strong enough to really get a cool room.

The hotel is on the roadside, 8 minutes walk from the subway station, very convenient. I booked a double bed with another girl, but both beds were very small, and they were put together. It was not comfortable. Breakfast was monotonous.

1. Housekeeper did not make up room for the first night (out of theee nights) despite “please make up room” displayed on room door. 2. Hotel only provides one bottled water per stay, instead of per night or at customers’ request (normally expected at true 5 stars hotels so this hotel is 4 stars at best because of this). 3. Hotel staff’s attitude is not 5 stars standard. Upon checking in, my room’s air con was not working. I called the front desk, the staff simply asked me to double check if the window is fully closed which I did but the air con still didn’t work. I called for the second time, hotel staff just asked me to try closing the window with force. And only when I called the third time, they sent someone to assist me in the room. At the end, we had to change to a new room as the old room’s air con was broken down. I would expect immediate in-room assistance at true five stars hotels.

Let's start with the positives: The location is excellent, right next to the U2 subway station and very close to the U6. If you have the Berlin WelcomeCard, getting around by subway and bus is super convenient and saves you a lot of walking. There's a Rewe supermarket across the street with a great selection of food, and their salad bar and hot food counter are both excellent. Now for the negatives: The staff were arrogant and rude. I waited in line to check in for almost 20 minutes when a white man just walked up and stood next to the queue, not bothering to line up. After the person in front of me finished, I walked up to the front desk with him. He said the balding male staff member at the desk had called him over. I told the male receptionist that everyone was queuing and should be served in order, but he insisted he had called that specific white man. At this point, another front desk was free, so I didn't argue and moved to that one. This is where it got even more interesting. When I tried to pay the deposit in cash, the female receptionist said they don't accept cash. Isn't it illegal in any country to refuse legal tender? And who says everyone has a credit card? I didn't want any trouble, so I pulled out my credit card, but for some reason, it wouldn't go through. Finally, this female receptionist said her colleague could accept cash, and indeed, the colleague came over and took the money. But if I hadn't asked, they wouldn't have even given me a receipt. For a hotel costing over 2,000 euros a night, they don't provide bottled water unless you're a Hilton Silver member or higher. The coffee is also terrible instant coffee, the worst among the four hotels I stayed at on this Europe trip. The facilities are old but reasonably well-maintained. In short, besides the location, there are no redeeming qualities.

Excellent hotel! My flight landed very early, so I arrived at the hotel before 9 am. I expected to just drop off my luggage and check in later in the afternoon, but they let me check in right away. The room was clean and hygienic, though the pillows were a bit too thin and soft; I needed to use two to be comfortable. The breakfast area is spacious with a wide variety of options. The location is convenient with plenty of amenities nearby. Great value for money, highly recommend!

I stayed one night at A&O Berlin Mitte during a solo trip, and once again, it proved to be my favorite place in Berlin. I chose a twin room and was really impressed: the room was spacious, clean, modern, and very comfortable. It's not a luxury hotel, but it offers everything you need for a pleasant stay, with excellent value for money. The facilities are welcoming, the staff is helpful, and the location is convenient for getting around the city. Every time I return to Berlin, I choose this hotel and have never been disappointed. I got to the place quite late after a 24 hours journey from China, and quite tired. I slept 8 hours undisturbed in a full 8 bed dorm, and nothing bothered me. The only downside is the city itself {and the country) overpriced and dysfunctional in all respects. A 19th century nation that made great progress backwards. Go to Berlin only invited and adequately paid.

The biggest advantage of this hostel is its location. Alexanderplatz is incredibly convenient for travelers, with many key attractions within walking distance. There's direct public transport to the main train station and the airport. A distinctive feature of this hostel is the large number of young teenagers, giving it a summer camp vibe with groups of young people everywhere. The common area is on the ground floor, featuring a pool table and shuffleboard. They offer a paid breakfast in the morning and have a small, lively bar in the evening. The room itself is standard, with a sink inside. The toilets and showers are acceptable. One of the toilet doors was a bit broken but still usable. Hand soap is provided, but there's no shower gel or shampoo. Breakfast includes sausages, bread, coffee, milk, tea, apples, tomatoes, and cucumbers. You can also pay extra for grilled sausages and fried eggs. Breakfast is served from 7 AM to 10 AM, and hot water is available.

A really nice and clean hotel with well-appointed rooms, and the small kitchenette with a fridge is a perfect addition. The location right near Checkpoint Charlie is superb. There are small cafes around, as well as McDonald's and KFC where you can eat relatively cheaply. The room cleaning wasn't great because we seemed to always be in the room at the wrong time. The one time out of three days that the room was cleaned, the trash cans unfortunately weren't emptied.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The service was fantastic. My only criticism is that while the hotel is a bit older, it could definitely use some modernization. I found it odd that there were no lamps in the room; that's not really appropriate for a 4-star hotel. I ended up using a lampshade as a light source. As I said, the side tables and vanity are old but don't look bad. However, they could be improved. The breakfast was very good.
