|1.09km from city centerPros: Great location; beautiful, clean modern rooms; great coffee, lovely appointed kitchen that guests may use. Cons: Lack of communication; no sound proofing between rooms & halls; AC didn't work. I would not stay here again & therefore would not recommend this hotel. I’m still baffled as to the high ratings on this website and other travel websites. I’ll be wary to go by ratings again for accommodations I find on this website and other popular travel websites. 1) When we arrived there was no one available to let us in. The reception is open only from 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Check in is at 3:00, no one was even available to leave luggage. It's extremely inconvenient. We wasted a lot of time the day of check-in. We sent multiple WhatsApp messages & could see that they had been received, but there were no responses even though I requested responses. A phone call ended in a hang up on their end. There was a sign on the door stating the hotel would be closed until after the day we had a reservation to check in. This was disconcerting (see photo). Someone should man the desk during normal business hours, 9-5. In speaking with other guests & even the hotel staff at another nearby accommodation, this is a frequent event. Other travelers there during our stay had a similar experience --- wasting a lot of time trying to check in or drop-off bags. 2) Temp control didn’t cool the room. The thermostats in the room don’t control the temperature in the rooms. We had left one of our keys, which work the outlets, plugged in the entire day. The room was still hot when we returned early evening. The owner suggested we leave the key in the outlet totally disregarding my comment that we had done exactly that — left one of the keys in the outlet all day. When we returned at midnight, the room was still hot & this was May. I cannot even imagine the inferno the room will be in the summer months. 3) There's minimal soundproofing. You can hear guests from other rooms and in the hallway.

|0.72km from city centerWe stayed in three, two adults and one boy, the clean environments. The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable to take the metro and especially to walk to Barcelona (we never took the metro, always walked ). Someone wrote that there is the problem of light, there were electrical staples in our apartment, so there was no problem. In the end, if we were to go back to Barcelona, we'll be back here ...! The only thing I didn't like, is the lead that they put on the boy's single bed in the living room, was sleeved with candle and seemed not very clean ... for the rest super satisfied!

|1.96km from city centerMy husband and I got the grand suite and it was absolutely amazing! I love the back lighting of the bed, which can be turned off. Also, this bed is heaven, so comfortable, which having a temperpedic at home, this definitely compares. I love the jets in the hot tub, shooting out from the bottom plus the shower combo. It was lovely the hotel provides shampoo, gel soap, and even bath bombs. His and her sinks were a lovely touch along with a couch sectional. Mirrors are all around the room, the one in front of the bed is adjustable. I booked this room for 2 weeks, still staying here, but I have been enjoying my stay so much, I figured I would write a review. I enjoy enjoy this being an adult hotel. Do you hear adult activities? Yes, but I play music at night and since the mattress is so comfortable, I have been getting so great sleep. The customer service is top notch. The woman working helped us book massages and any other needs we had. On New Year's Eve, she gave us a bottle of cava and grapes, which was available for all guest. Cleaning service is exceptional. This is perhaps the best cleaning service I have ever gotten in all my travels. This is my first time traveling since the pandemic and overall, I felt more than safe and comfortable. I enjoy this place so much, I would actually stay here again if and when I travel back to Barcelona. Tons of restaurants in the area, plus bus and metro in walking distance. You can actually walk to the Gothic Quarter too, about 30 minutes or so. I also love the fountains and castle are so close too. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay at, which made a much needed vacation that much better!

|1.56km from city centerWe booked via Booking and, because of a problem with my bank, the credit card did not work. As I was Easter, I could not solve it. We call the hotel and ask if it was possible to maintain the reservation despite Booking itself to cancel it. They gently answer that it was possible and not worry: Booking would have cancelled our reservation but they would have booked us a room. The problem emerged when two days after our conversation, we arrived in Barcelona in the afternoon. A receptionist answers that the room was cancelled by Booking, and when we tried to explain (in good Spanish) to him that we know it, but they themselves had confirmed on Sunday of Easter that we had a room, In a dishonorable and unhappy way, he tells us that it is not true and it's our fault. To finish in beauty, he attacks us on the face. So we're with a kid looking for a hotel at the last minute in Barcelona. The same problem had happened two days ago in Montpellier, the hotelmen obviously say, in total good faith, I imagine, they can book the same L room, but then they cannot. But they should make sure you are not sure to come to a holiday city with a baby and not find the hotel booked is not really nice, and it is part of their professionalism. And if they do not, they should at least excuse and help you find a solution equivalent. The love of the reception in Barcelona was unprofessional, unhappy and unhappy (he also and de tue that was not true what we said).

|0.91km from city centerThe contactless check in instructions were clear and worked well except in the key locker we were given the wrong key to enter our apartment block! A bit of a hiccup and was hard to get help over the phone but after that point it all went smoothly. The apartment was clean, fresh, spacious and airy. had a balcony for every room and the beds were comfy for a group of 6 lads for our trip to Barcelona. Everything was clean and tidy and all cooking/cleaning equipment was provided. There wasnt an iron but we bought one and left it at the apartment so hopefully this is there for the next guests. The location is great, 1 block from casa battlo, and half way between the beach and la sagrada familia / park guell so it was quite central for travelling. Its only a 15-20 min taxi from the airport aswell. Turn left straight out the building and you are on las ramblas street and can walk up or down for all kind of restuarants and shops. I think some of the apartments in the block are residential and we crossed paths with them a few times and they were so lovely too, one of them helped us out when we had been given the wrong key and even let us borrow his while he went out! All in all a great stay in a great location would defo recommend.

|1.76km from city centerClean and efficient use of space as the room was not a traditional square/rectangle and the single was well placed to give a bit more floor space. The bathroom was nice, but a bit lacking in privacy due to the sliding door that doesn't lock, but it was at least somewhat spacious, especially the shower. I also liked the location just a couple of blocks from Sagrada Familia. Beware - it is a bit hard to find the office as it is diagonally across the street and NOT obvious from the street markings!

|1.41km from city centerOur stay at the Suites Avenue hotel was excellent in every way. The apartments are modern, clean, spacious, well-equipped and very comfortable. The hotel staff members were all courteous, competent, efficient and ready to assist when needed. The location is also excellent -- on a beautiful, tree-lined street among upscale shops, lively during the day but quiet at night and we felt safe there at all times. The hotel is very close to La Pedrera and Casa Batllo. Also nearby is a taxi stand, two metro stations, bus stops for city buses and hop-on-hop-off buses. We took the metro to Sagrada Familia and to Parc Guell, then walked back from both. The Placa Catalunya was a 20 minute walk. Alternatively, we strolled down La Rambla from the upper part a block from the hotel, down through the busy section, to the waterfront in 40 easy minutes, passing many restaurants along the way. Barcelona itself was beautiful, sunny and hot and the hotel was a wonderful place to stop in for a break from the heat and to come ”home” to at the end of the day. I wholeheartedly recommend the Suites Avenue and would definitely stay there again.

|0.33km from city centerHOTEL: The check-in is at another hotel about 100 meters at a parallel road behind the hotel. There's no front desk at the hotel itself and it took us a while to get used to the key less main door. No breakfast. But there's a common area with coffee, tea, water, and a microwave. ROOM: Pretty clean and comfortable. However, the walls are a bit thin. You can hear people walking and talking across the corridor so it may wake you up in the middle of the night. LOCATION: Excellent location. Literally long Ramblas in front of the Boqueria. Ten meters is a metro station so it was just so convenient to go around. VALUE: We were there during the off-peak season so the price was pretty good compared to other competitors in the area. Not sure if this comparative pricing among competitors would remain during peak-season. VERDICT: Definitely an option to go back to especially during the off-peak season.

We went to the nearby supermarket to buy food and burned three meals.

|3.36km from city centerAdvantages: 1) The transportation is extremely convenient. The bus station and subway station are not far downstairs. It is also close to the Sants train station on foot. When you reach Sants, you can reach the towns and airports around Barcelona in all directions; 2) There are many restaurants and supermarkets around. It’s okay if you don’t eat breakfast at the hotel; 3) Probably the most cost-effective one in the surrounding non-young hostels. Disadvantages: I don't know why the room key should be kept by the front desk?

|1.55km from city centerWe stayed at Casa Mathilda for 3 nights. Staff were welcoming after our very long trip from Australia. The room was clean and comfortable and opened onto the lovely patio area which we made full use of and took breakfast there each day. It was a bit cosy as we had a 3rd camp style bed added to the double room at a cost of €50 extra per night to accomodate our family group. This suited us and was cost effective. The air con did not seem to be very effective at all but this did not impact us too much. We did hear the school children next door on the Friday afternoon but it was not at all detrimental to our enjoyment. There were several supermarkets within a short walking distance and we could easily walk to the metro to get to the Gothic Quarter and port. There were several local tapas restaurants nearby and check out those recommended by the hotel. We did. It was a 10 minute stroll to Sagrada Familia. We could help ourselves to tea and biscuits from the kitchen/dining area located just outside our room at any time and there was a well equipped vending machine with well priced snacks, soft drinks and beer. Coffee pods were €1 from the machine and there was fresh filter coffee each morning alongside a delightful continental help yourself breakfast. The quality was fantastic and including cured meats, an unbelievably good tortilla/Spanish omelette, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and juices, nuts, breads, preserves, muffins and croissants. We took our time and enjoyed the experience each morning. No rush as it was served till 10.30. We were able to store our luggage till late on our day of check out and were given the door code to get in as reception had left for the day. Alexander was extremely polite and helpful as were all the staff we encountered. Casa Mathilda is a relaxed, homely, warm and welcoming 5 * base for your stay in Barcelona. Recommended and we hope to return one day.

|0.46km from city centerVery close to the city center, it is not very good to take a taxi, walking is also healthy. The room is at home, there is no breakfast service, no restaurant, but there is a 365 restaurant on the right hand side of the door, which is open very early in the morning. |1.73km from city centerGetting into your room reminded me of the introduction to the 1960s American sitcom Get Smart. We arrived on a Sunday night when there was no one at reception. To gain access to our room, we received an email with a page of instructions , a link to an app we had to use, and 4 sets of passcodes that collectively allowed us to get into the building, into the lobby, onto our floor, and into our room. Here was part of the instructions “To open the glass door before the lift (not the street door) you will have to combine pressing the button on the intercom that says “2º2ª A” plus the “Next Door” option on our Akiles cell phone access tool.” Whaaaaat? The room was big (I think we had one of the more expensive rooms ) and once the air conditioning got cranked up, it was comfortable to sleep in for the next four nights. The breakfasts were satisfactory and included yogurt, bread slices, cheese, some cold meat, and then a warm egg dish each day. With that said, it was disappointing that in a city town full of bakeries, the BnB did not provide a selection of fresh croissants, rolls, etc. One day they did have a fresh looking cake which the front desk person said was left over from the owner's birthday party for her son. Yes, you are reading that correctly. We received seconds. The B&B provides wall-mounted dispensers of soap and shampoo in the shower – a nice touch. Our soap dispenser was empty. We removed it from the wall of the first day in hopes that the hotel would replenish it during our stay, but they never did. Outside of our room, the B&B had a Nespresso machine and a kettle for hot tea. This was a nice touch but the dirty dishes were not removed nor the supplies replenished for the first three days we were there. I do not mean to be nit-picky in my review but when you pay top dollar for an accommodation, your standards and expectations are higher.

|2.79km from city centerWell located apartment. Close to the Sagrada Familia, you can find restaurants in the immediate vicinity. A reception is open at certain times. In case of closing, the key provision system is well designed and easy to use. We found a very clean apartment upon our arrival. The biggest concern is the soundproofing, the stairwell is noisy (especially when the residents do not respect anything). The pinnacle was reached on our last night (January 01 to 02, 2022), when the apartment above decided to be a nightclub. All night, many people prevented us from sleeping, knocking the ground, moving the furniture... The emergency number at the reception never answered in the middle of the night. The next day, we informed the reception of our annoyance (or even more...), without having in return, neither compassion nor compensation accordingly. So the tranquility of your stay will depend on your neighbours...

|1.7km from city centerThe goal of our 2-week independent trip to Spain in early May was to immerse ourselves in the local culture. So, staying in an apartment located in the core of the city was key. Eric Vökel Gran Vía Suites located on the Gran Via provided just that. Wonderful trees line the street, and we always felt safe walking at night. The Metro station was within metres outside the building. Tons of restaurants were within a couple blocks walk and a Condis grocery store was located to the right as you exited the building. We were able to walk to the Rambla area, the Montjuïc area where the Magic Fountain show takes place nightly, and we took the Metro to get to areas located further away. These well-outfitted apartment units have all the dishes/utensils, pots, pans, graters, colanders, cutting boards you will need. The bedroom was large and comfortable with ample closet space and a safe. The washer/dryer was in the storage closet with the water heater. The living room was a decent size and there was a table perfect for eating and to use for trip planning. At the front desk you can get coffee, soap pods, and other supplies. Staff was normally there to help if needed. The elevator was a little temperamental at times and usually someone had failed to close the door properly causing issues. It is not large either, so be prepared to take a couple of trips if you have tons of luggage. Personally, it added to the charm of the building. The one thing we will laugh at forever is that we did not realize the entire apartment had automated blackout blinds. The first night we could see from one window into another unit, and so we thought we might have to rig up something with newspaper and tape. I had brought a garbage bag from home and stuck it onto the window. The next day we came back, and I hit a couple of buttons on the bedroom wall to turn the light on, and suddenly, these amazing blinds engaged, and the room completely darkened. So, we immediately went to the living room and sure enough automated blinds there. We of course felt a tad foolish, but it all added to our “immersed” experience. The balcony which faced a large courtyard was the perfect place to eat breakfast and enjoy a nightly cocktail. Life in Barcelona happening right before our eyes. Seven wonderful nights and we would return in a heartbeat.
