"We have transited through Pontianak a couple of times and stayed here both times. It’s easy to get to the ferry to Sukadana and the Damri bus stop to Singkawang - great veggie restaurants close by and motorbike rental right next door. Very handy. We had a problem with our room and the staff changed our room immediately - very kind and efficient. They also let us leave our bags in their secure office so we could travel a bit lighter. The hotel itself could do with a make over. The reception makes you feel like you’re entering an upper class hotel but then you get to your room and it’s poor. Stained sheets and towels, mouldy shower and damp patches in walls, curtains need changing and washing. Unfortunately it seems to be the norm in the hotels we’ve stayed in in West Kalimantan."

"The shops situated opposite the entrance & exit of the hotel play very very loud music until 3.00 a.m. We hardly slept on the first night. However, we moved to another room which was facing the swimming pool on the second night and it was very peaceful. Personally, I don't like the switches in the rooms. There should be more switches for guests to control the brightness of the rooms and the bathrooms. Currently, the room is either very bright or I can turn on 2 wall lights (very dim) + 1 night light. The Foyer and Reading switches don't work. For the bathroom, one switch controls all the lights in the bathroom & exhaust fan. Therefore, it's either very bright in the bathroom + noisy exhaust fan or total darkness. I like to see more switches for guests to control the brightness in the rooms and bathrooms. Nevertheless, this is a very beautiful hotel with very friendly staffs. I will definitely come back and stay when I come back to Pontianak."

"I got a room on the 7th floor, it was clean and quiet, and the TV had Netflix channels. I'll definitely be staying at Transera more often!"

The public areas look modern and well maintained, and both check‑in and check‑out were efficient and helpful. The point deduction is for the bed: the linens were freshly made but had visible stains, and the mattress underneath was clearly soiled – this is where the hotel urgently needs to improve its quality standards. With spotless bedding and a renewed or thoroughly cleaned mattress, this property would easily be a 5‑star choice within its category for me."

"Generally comfortable. Easy check in and check out when booked with Trip. Cleanliness - generally a bit worn around the edges, and towels provided are at their life's end. Some yellow marks on the towels and covers might feel irksome. Location - is very close to the Flamboyan market, with an Indomaret at its doorstep. Very close to Restoran Gajah Mada, and plenty of dining options nearby. Considered close to one tail end of gajah mada. Service - generally friendly, helpful and smiling. Ordered room service and requested non spicy for nasi goreng, but still came spicy. Breakfast was included. Is basic with good local options + bread, pastry, cereal, beverages. Overall, quite good for a short weekend stay to explore the city. But next trip, a slight push to a hotel at more central Gajah Mada would make it that bit better, especially for bigger group."

"The hotel wasn't very clean. Next time, please don't give me a room too far inside or too high up. It took too long to wait for the lift to go down, and the lift itself was also quite a distance away. The location, however, was excellent, close to everything."

"I have fond memories when staying at Aston Hotels as the service staff are always polite & smiling. Always going out of their way to please. However, I observed that the premises are normally on the older properties, albeit they try their best to keep clean & that the hot/water works well. I commend the front desk & the concierge personnel for their cheerful demeanour & eager smiles. It's near to the nice local produce shop for fruits & packed gifts goods of Pontianak which I bought for home."

"Pro: Hotel location is quite central with surrounding lively food stalls, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. It is also walkable to prime attractions such as the Flamboyan Market and the Kapuas River Waterfront. Breakfast is fairly good despite limited choices. Rooms are spacious, clean, and basic. Hotel decor is primarily modern vs classic European style—both beautiful inside and outside. WiFi is available but was not informed by the check-in staff. All staff are very polite, and that is a big plus! Cons: The area is a bit overcrowded, but that is reasonable. Some exposed areas are a bit unsightly, especially around the hallway. Constant error beeping near the elevator is annoying and the doorbell keeps on malfunctioning."
