Osaka Hostels

Hotel prices during cherry blossom season soared, so I'm glad I booked in advance. Having a small, private space was really great for luggage, and there's a public bath to relax in. The location is also excellent, and the staff are very nice.

This capsule hotel near Nankai Namba Station in Osaka is fantastic. The room is very cozy, and the environment is clean and tidy. It's well-equipped with all the facilities you need. Plus, it's super convenient for shopping, with convenience stores, drugstores, and fruit shops right outside. Highly recommend it to everyone!

The bathhouse and sauna were excellent! After a day of exploring, a good soak and steam were exactly what I needed. The water temperature was a bit on the hot side, so it took some getting used to. However, the shower faucet was a bit inconvenient as you had to continuously hold it down. The facilities were generally well-equipped, but disposable slippers had to be purchased separately, so I'd recommend bringing your own. The luggage storage area was quite small, and if you arrived late, there was often no space in the room, meaning you had to leave your luggage in the stairwell.

I traveled alone this time and chose this hotel. The location is excellent; from Namba Exit 13, you take the elevator directly to the third floor where the front desk is. There are two self-check-in machines, and you can select Chinese for a smooth check-in process. You can check in after 5 PM, but you can store your luggage and they'll give you a numbered tag. Both the third and fourth floors are part of the hotel and require key card access. Each floor is divided into different rooms, with about 12 beds per room. On the same floor, there are both male and female rooms, so you might encounter people of the opposite sex on your way to the restrooms or showers. On the third floor, the bathing area features a public bath with both cold and hot soaking tubs, a sauna, and a member-exclusive room (don't go into the wrong one!). There's also a restroom, a changing area (for clothes and towels), washbasins, and vanity tables – everything you could need. After walking a lot each day, a soak is very relaxing. Afterwards, there's a water dispenser with room temperature and iced water (no hot water). I stayed on the fourth floor, which has two independent shower rooms. They've thoughtfully provided shower head holders at different heights. The fourth floor also has vanity tables and washbasins, but no stools (the third floor has them). The restroom is next to the washbasins, with a smart toilet that's very clean. You need to change into slippers before entering the restroom. The room size is quite good; a 24-inch suitcase can be fully opened. On the first day, a bath towel, small towel, and pajamas were provided on the bed. The room has three lights and two mirrors. The brightness of all three lights is adjustable, so you can slowly adjust the lighting when you wake up in the morning, avoiding glare. There's a lockable drawer under the bed for use. You can hang clothes next to the mirror, and there are three hangers. My stay experience was excellent. The hotel provides a very comprehensive range of amenities (pajamas, disposable slippers, towels (you can get fresh ones daily), toothbrushes, hair ties, earphone cables, earplugs, combs, razors, etc.). The staff were also wonderful, patiently explaining the bed's location and important information. If I travel alone again, I will definitely choose this hotel!

I ended my stay early for a couple of reasons. One; the mattress in my pod was too short and my feet hung off the and. I’m nearly 6 foot. Also, the guy in the pod next to me was snoring very, very loudly all night. Sue the manager kindly let me switch to another pod but I was still uncomfortable so she allowed me to check out early. Also, the place is very cramped and cluttered. Stuff everywhere. It just didn’t suit me. But Sue was unbelievably helpful, kind and understanding.

This one just beats all my other stays in Japan, it was seriously that good. The location is near Umeda Station, a super quick three-minute walk, and it was so easy to find amazing local cuisine nearby. The public bath is the absolute MVP here. I was totally not expecting someone with a tattoo on the back like me to be allowed in, but it was fine. My Japanese friend even said, ”Your public bath is way too good to be the one of a hotel, it should be a private public bath.” The quality is superb, and the amenities are fully equipped with everything you have in your own bathroom: hair spray, shampoo, hair conditioner, sponge, razor, nail clipper, nourishing cream, toothbrush, toothpaste and woww a lot. You put heart in every detail. It was my first experience with a Japanese public bath, and it was the best. The staff are super friendly but still uphold guests’ privacy. Having a lot of guests, it was surprisingly enough to sleep. Just one quick recommendation: The hostel requires a daily check-in even when you book consecutive days. For us, it was no problem sorting out and communicating with staffs. But some foreign guests seemed a bit confused by the process. If they could clarify that for non-Japanese speakers better, the place would be beyond perfect! Thanks for the excellent experience!

This was my first time staying in a capsule hotel, and I was really impressed! If you opt for a slightly more premium room, it honestly feels pretty similar to a standard hotel. The location is incredibly convenient; you're in the tourist area within a 5-minute walk. Plus, the hotel has excellent facilities, including a restaurant, massage services, and a lounge. I'll definitely choose this place again when I'm traveling alone for work next time.

What I like about Jakotel is the location and modern facilities. It is located near Dotonbori and super near Kuromon market (though avoid eating there. It’s a tourist trap with super expensive and not so good food). As mentioned by others, though it says Namba but the nearest station is Nipponbashi. Bed and duvet is comfortable and facilities are kept clean. What I didn’t like is that the shower room is on the first floor for everyone (a tad inconvenient). But since I knew about it from past review, I brought a waterproof toiletries bag. Toilets are on each floor - only 1 per floor. Though there are only 2 shower room, I really didn’t have to wait at all even though the hostel is fairly full. However, since the door to the shower room is not closed, you have to dress inside the shower. The wash basin area is really for just that, washing hands or putting on make up. The other thing that could be improved is communication. There is no way to communicate with the hostel. They don’t reply to chat online and calling them is also not helpful. It’s quite concerning when you want to verify booking, confirm check in details or request for top/bottom bunk. Email for check in came 5 days before check in. Other than the regular cleaners around, there is no other staff. The cleaners are mostly Vietnamese and speak very little English but they do try to help (albeit the language barrier). Check in and check out is automated.

The room facilities were great, providing slippers and toiletries, and the bed offered excellent privacy. The location was also fantastic, within walking distance of a bustling commercial area. The noise under the railway tracks was really loud; I could still hear it even with earplugs. But maybe it was the sake I drank that night, because I actually slept very well (only to be woken up again at 5 AM by a cargo train 😂).

I had a really great time here at Casa G.S. Everything was way beyond my expectations. In terms of location, it took me only 5 mins on foot to reach Osakako train station, Chuo Line. With your luggage, you may chose to walk up stairs or take an elevator to and down the train station. You can also visit the nearby shopping mall (Tempozan Market Place) which is located near a beautiful bay, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyuka, and a big ferris wheel. A local bus stop is around 3 minutes away. Tax-free shops, Japanese restaurants, convenience stores (Lawson, 7-11, Family Mart) can easily be reached in the area. For room condition, fortunately I believe the place has been renovated for less than one year, so everything is very nice and clean. I stayed with my parents for 4 nights. The beds were hygienic and comfortable which was a plus to when you were exhausted after long walking days. It has all the necessities you can ever think of such as refrigerator, power socket, adapter, air-con, wet wipes and amenities. The check-in/out, door-lock, and entry systems require no staff or any unlocking devices/tools to pass which were very convenient and secure. An elevator is in place. This is crucial! The lobby has a luggage storage area (free of charge) and a pantry where you can borrow or use necessary kitchenware. Its bathroom may not be that spacious, but very clean and good enough for a short stay.
