"Stayed here 2 days before my Kobe cruise and it was good enough to rebook for another 3 days after we returned. The hotel is quiet new and located on top of the sannomiya station, giving underground access to most trains and shopping malls nearby. It's basically the center of Kobe.
Exits are 1st floor to the street and 2nd floor to station. Reception is 17th floor. Rooms are slightly bigger than most hotels in Japan. Even number room gives you the larger massage machine but room is smaller than odd numbered rooms. These have a smaller massage chair but bigger space and faces the port terminal if you have a cruise ship waiting.
They provide amenities, coffee and tea at 17th floor.
Did not try the breakfast but there is a convenient store on 2nd floor of the station, near the hotel exit - lots if
sandwiches and snacks here. There're hundreds of restaurants and malls underground and you'll get lost most of the time so look for entrance A1 and A2 to get back.
Airport bus from kansai stops 200m away and bus to the airport departs 100m from the station. Most of the highest rated restaurants are not more than 400m from the hotel.

"The hostel is very close to Oishi Station, only 200 meters away, just across an alley. It's a bit further from Rokko-dori Station, about a kilometer away. There are convenience stores and bakeries nearby. You can walk to Mount Rokko and Kobe University to watch the sunset and night view, a popular spot for taking photos. It's also convenient to take a bus to Kobe Sannomiya (around 200 yen). Compared to other hostels, the facilities are a bit older, and there's no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage upstairs yourself. However, it's clean and tidy. The lady who checked us in spoke English and was very friendly. There was also an elderly gentleman there at other times, who was also very nice. Initially, seeing a 4.3 rating, I was worried about a bad experience, but the actual stay was quite good."

"Staying in Kobe for a night, I booked this hotel after reading reviews that it's close to Sannomiya Station and relatively new. It was super convenient coming from Kansai Airport; I took the airport bus directly to the Sannomiya bus terminal, and after getting off, it was less than a 10-minute walk with Google Maps. Getting to JR Sannomiya Station from the hotel takes a maximum of 5 minutes, and the Hanshin Line is less than 10 minutes away – both are very close! There are plenty of dining options downstairs, and a 7-Eleven right next door. If you walk out the main hotel entrance and turn left, there's a cute dessert shop called Dorsia about five minutes away. Plus, it's not far from the Sannomiya shopping district, so you can easily walk there. I forgot to take pictures of the room, but in a double room, there was no problem opening a 26-inch suitcase."

"This hotel in Kobe was an excellent choice! The location is fantastic; you can walk to the subway, bus stops, and more. The hotel itself is very clean. We booked a leisure room, and it even had a massage chair, which was incredibly relaxing to come back to every day. There are also plenty of great restaurants around the hotel.
Kobe is truly a wonderful city, definitely worth visiting. From the hotel, we walked to the bus terminal and took a bus to Arima Onsen hot spring village, where we enjoyed a full day of soaking in the springs. We also walked from the hotel to Kitano Ijinkan and indulged in cheesecake and coffee. For our last half-day, we walked to the cable car station for the Nunobiki Herb Gardens."

"Good price with a nice view. View of the bridge during the day is breathtaking. The new wing’s rooms are a lot nicer. Not much service. No one helps you with luggage when you arrive. And staff don’t look too helpful or happy. The hotel is near outlet and easy drive to Kobe city centre. Breakfast is good with a lot of bread variety. You need to bring your room towel to public bath. For this price I wouldn’t mind staying there again."

"The hotel is nestled in Meriken Park, offering truly stunning views; the hotel itself is a scenic spot.
The room size and facilities met expectations. I had researched beforehand and booked an East-facing room. I made a mistake when booking and ended up with a non-refundable special offer room, which was slightly smaller. However, the bed faced the balcony, so if you're an early riser, you can actually catch the sunrise from this room.
The only downside is that the hotel might have been open for a while and hasn't been maintained very well. The cleanliness wasn't ideal, especially for Japan. There was a lot of dust on the ceiling directly above the air conditioning vent, which looked a bit messy. I hope the hotel pays more attention to these details.
I had read in guides that it's best to take the shuttle bus or a taxi to the hotel because it's uphill and inconvenient with luggage. However, there's an escalator to the left of the hotel, which is perfectly fine for carrying suitcases. Just be aware that it stops operating after a certain time at night, so keep that in mind when checking in.
Due to a flight delay, we were supposed to arrive at 4 PM, but it got pushed to the evening. We landed quickly, took the airport bus to Sannomiya, and easily found the hotel shuttle pick-up point. We were lucky to catch the 10:30 PM hotel shuttle.
Upon arrival, we also bought some food and drinks at the convenience store on the first floor of the hotel lobby. This is the only convenience store in the vicinity, and it closes at 11 PM.
Overall, the highlight of this hotel is its scenery. You can take your time to fully appreciate the beauty of Kobe Port – it's an experience worth having. The drawback is that it's a bit far from Sannomiya's shopping centers, which can affect your subsequent plans."

"The hotel's location is excellent, right within the Motomachi shopping street, yet surprisingly quiet. Next door there's a lovely coffee shop with great coffee and delicious bread. Several famous old coffee shops like Nishimura, Kohshodo, Taco, the bakery Riki, and a drugstore are all within a 1-2 minute walk. Daimaru department store is conveniently located at the entrance of the shopping street. It's about a 3-minute walk to JR Motomachi Station, and you can reach Osaka Umeda in about 30 minutes. Sannomiya, Kobe, is roughly a 10-15 minute walk away. This hotel offers easy access to everything.
What's particularly impressive is that the hotel cleans the rooms daily, which is not always common in Japan. Even if you don't require a full cleaning, they'll hang fresh toiletries and towels on your door. Although the room isn't huge, it's perfectly fine for a solo traveler. It's clean, well-maintained, and offers incredible value for money, truly exceeding my expectations and making my trip more enjoyable. The front desk also has staff who speak Chinese, and everyone is incredibly patient and always smiling. The service is truly top-notch."

HHiro771024This hotel is super convenient, just a 5-minute walk from Motomachi Station on the JR line in central Kobe. They even have a natural hot spring bath, free ice cream, Yakult, and ramen for a late-night snack! However, because it's so popular and there are a lot of guests, you often have to queue for breakfast. On a few days, if we went a bit later, there were no seats left, and we missed out on breakfast entirely.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, making it super convenient to get anywhere, and there are plenty of food options nearby. Right across the street from the hotel is a Don Quijote. The hotel itself offers free tea and coffee during the day, and even ice cream in the evening. Most importantly, the shower is a proper walk-in shower, which is much more comfortable than the typical shower-over-bathtub setup you find in most Japanese hotels.

AAnonymous UserNot sure what has happened to Japan standard in the past couple of years but had called the hotel to confirm that linens are scent free (standard in Japan before) and was told yes. Unfortunately they are not, this new laundry detergent that is slowly spreading throughout Japan is absolutely horrible causing all sorts of allergic reactions (not only to me.) I start having rashes, compromised breathing, and inflammation issues. If it’s the same detergent used back in America, then it might be eco-friendly, but definitely not human friendly. I truly hope that Japan goes back to the way it was before the introduction of some western products filled with harmful chemicals to humans. It is not because you don’t react to it that it is not harming your body, it’s only a question of time and when it does, you won’t know why and there is no turning back. Take it from an Asian American born who was the biggest fan of American marketed products. We do have good products like ECOLAB, which is both, sustainable for the environment without compromising human health. Maybe laundry company should look into that company or simply return to Japanese products before. Good thing thing their pyjama are still scent free so I had to wrap the bed and cover with their pyjama to get through the night.

GGuest UserIt's a bit of a walk from the station. The famous internet-famous church cafe is just a three-minute walk behind it. There's a Matsuya downstairs, perfect for breakfast. I stayed in a double room by myself and had plenty of space to open my suitcase. All the essential amenities were there, and the lighting was adjustable. I thought the service was great; the front desk always greeted me when I came and went.

JJugenshimaosuiAlthough this is an older five-star hotel, the lobby is spacious and features the traditional five-star amenities, which are well-maintained and appear very clean. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the Shinkansen line. It was raining on the day we arrived, but there's a covered walkway directly from the Shinkansen to the hotel, so we didn't get wet, which was very handy. Check-in was quick, and the staff were friendly. They even informed us about ongoing exterior renovations, mentioning that workers might be passing by at certain times. It turned out to be work on an annex, quite far from our room, but I appreciated the heads-up. We booked a twin-bedded city view room, which was very large and even had a capsule coffee machine, though I couldn't use it as I don't drink coffee. The staff cleaned our room thoroughly every day. For breakfast, you can go to the buffet restaurant on the 4th floor, which offers a good variety of Japanese and Western dishes. The staff there were also very attentive, reminding guests around 10:00 AM that the last seating was at 10:30 AM. Alternatively, you can opt for a set menu on the 5th floor. This is served in a restaurant where the staff wear kimonos and are equally friendly. We had three breakfasts in total and chose the set menu one day; it was simple but tasty. Right next to the hotel is the Herb Garden, which is easily accessible by cable car. A short walk down from there, there's a glass house resembling an indoor rainforest. We enjoyed afternoon tea in a café inside while listening to a piano and violin performance. The hotel is just one subway stop from Sannomiya. It's also easy to walk to the Kitano-cho (Ijinkan Street) area and then to Sannomiya. My only minor complaint was that our room was quite close to the elevator; I would have preferred a room further away. The hotel also offers a direct bus service to Kansai Airport, but it only runs twice a day, at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM. Since we missed the 11:00 AM bus, we took the subway one stop to the Sannomiya Bus Terminal, which is diagonally opposite Hankyu, where buses run every 20 minutes – also quite convenient.

GGuest UserFood quality and choices are fantastic. Staff service is very good and can communicate well in English. One minor drawback is that the spa pool is too small for too many hotel guests. I am disappointed that there is no spa pool outdoor.

GGuest UserLocation is great as it is practically adjacent to the Sannomiya train station. However, there is a major scale construction going on now, right exactly in front of the hotel and if you are not observant, it could easily slip your sight. Also note there are two Tokyu Rei hotels nearby each other and if you are taking a taxi from Shin Kobe station, remember to clearly specify the destination is Sannomiya Tokyu Rei and not the nearby one in Moto Machi which the driver brought us to.
As is typical of most hotels in Japan, even though we had a twin room, space was rather limited and we barely had enough to even open up a medium size luggage bag let alone two.
A big plus point was food options were everywhere and all within walking distance, with many eateries just directly behind the hotel and more as you walk down the main road leading to a row of various restaurants and various eateries for all budgets.
Check-in was of the touch machine kind which is typical of Japan now and staff were at hand to help and guide along.
They were also especially helpful providing useful information as to where to go for a good meal and how to get to other places of interests.
Given the proximity to train station, the food options around and the price we paid, Kobe Sannomiya Tokyu Rei is a good choice for a stay in Kobe.
