Hotel Granvia Kyoto

Kyoto Station Kyoto|0.37km from CAFFE CIAO PRESSO

Latest booking 15 hrs ago

I recently stayed at Hotel Granvia Kyoto and wanted to share my insights on various aspects of this well-established local favorite. Location: A Hub of Convenience Situated directly on the station grounds, Hotel Granvia Kyoto boasts multiple entrances for easy access. While the hotel may show signs of aging, it remains a beloved choice for both business and leisure travelers. The local atmosphere adds a unique charm, and its proximity to Kyoto Tower, shopping malls, and transportation hubs within a 5-10 minute range makes it a convenient base for exploring the city. Cleanliness: Classic Comfort with Minor Dust The hotel maintains a level of cleanliness, although signs of age are noticeable, particularly in the slightly dusty rug and bedboard. While these minor imperfections exist, they don't overshadow the overall comfort of the stay. The hotel's enduring popularity suggests that many guests find the cleanliness to be at an acceptable level. In conclusion, Hotel Granvia Kyoto's enduring popularity stems from its unbeatable location and a classic appeal that resonates with both locals and visitors. The convenience of being on the station grounds and its proximity to key attractions make it a worthwhile choice. Although signs of age are evident and there's room for improvement in certain aspects, the overall experience remains comfortable, offering a genuine taste of Kyoto's timeless allure.

Everything was fine until the end. In comparison to other hotels I stayed at throughout my trip, this one is cleaner and more spacious. It's close to Tokyo Station, so it's easy to get to other areas, even if it took me quite a while to figure out their operation and routes. The hotel will be cleaned one time every three days. So, generally, it will not be cleaned throughout your stay. However, you can request that they change the towels every day. The check-in and check-out processes were straightforward, however the machine did not accept my Visa card - this is the only site in Japan that did. The hotel also helped you store your belongings before and after check-in/out. However, I was discriminated against by one of the hotel's employees when sending the luggage after checkout. Before me, he stayed near the check-in/checkout machine, assisting a Japanese couple with the checkout procedures and handling the bags. So I waited, thinking he also approached me to assist. However, after assisting the couples, he did not approach me and came back to the counter. Then I beckoned him to his assistance. Instead, he hailed me with his fingertips to come over his counter, rather say anything like “Please come over the counter to do the procedure”. It shocked me. Furthermore, the way he handled my luggage request was really unpleasant. When I asked for his name because I didn't see it on his tag, he became more agitated. So that is why I requested him to write his name on the receipt card. How is it possible for him to treat people so differently? Should Japanese people be treated more respectfully under the hotel's policy? After my interaction with him, all of my positive feelings about the hotel vanished.

The location is superb ! But we had a hard time finding the entrance . there should be more info about the direction . we arrived at 1am and there wasn’t anyone to ask for directions . the room is really tiny and would only be good for a short stay. it is a convenient place as it is on top of the station . i’ve posted the exit of the hotel - kintetsu hachijo guchi

It was nice that it was very close to Kyoto Station! There was a convenience store nearby and it was nice to be able to enjoy a private tatami room! However, I think I would be able to use it better if the hotel password was notified in advance!

It is an international brand but it runs like a local small hotel. Reservation team only know how to uphold the policy without any flexibility. I need to write seven emails to ask for a free cancellation due to a carefulness mistakes. They will make you feel inferior if you are not booked direct with its official channel. However they cannot offer the best price in official channel. Accorplus platinum member cannot enjoy any members’s privileges if you booked by other channels. Such arrangements is not the same as the premises located in Asia pacific. Late check out policy is rigid as well. Front desk claimed that customers need to pay 1000 yen for only half hour late check out. Overall staff cannot use English or Chinese, spoken or written to communicate well with customers. No services at all when they are not using the naive language. Price is an international brand one but services is not. You can very easy to find a better quality in Kyoto with the same price. The only good point is location is very good.
