Smiddy House & Russell's Restaurant

Stayed at Smiddy House in late April. Our group was the first of the season. Owners are perfect hosts! Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms modern and sparkling. My wife forgot an expensive rain jacket at the prior hotel, and the owner of Smiddy House drove to Fort William and collected it for her. Excellent restaurants nearby. 5 Star rating for Smiddy House!

Stayed for one night with my mother at Smiddy House. The service by Emma & Craig (And not forgetting the gorgeous Annie) was impeccable. They looked after us very well. The room was perfect - very clean and comfortable bed which is always a bonus after a long drive. The breakfast was excellent. We wish Emma & Craig lots of success with their new adventure, they deserve it as they are such lovely people. Thank you.

When we arrived at Smiddy House we had the most warm and friendly welcome from Craig, Emma and Annie the staffy. The whole house has a lovely homely feel. The rooms are lovely and clean with a good range of complimentary teas and coffees and the biscuits and fudge were much appreciated and a very comfortable bed. There is a small bar with a good range of drinks. The breakfast is fabulous and plentiful. There is plenty off road parking at the rear. Smiddy House is a good base for exploring Ben Nevis and the surrounding area. We would strongly recommend a stay here.

Thank you thank you thank you to Emma and Craig who made our stay in their cottage out behind the Smiddy House one of a kind! Emma and Craig were friendly and personable, offering us an extra hand and even a ride to the Great Glen Way trailhead. Delicious breakfast and even a small bar kept us satiated during our stay. Recommend recommend recommend!

We had a great time at the smiddy house, the room was excellent and very cozy, great details. the staff was kind and friendly. There is a beautiful forest path just 5 min walk from the house. Good breakfast with cozy fireplace. Super reccomend!!!

Light in toilet downstairs does not turn on - that appears to have to be arranged by the owners with a button that they can only operate. Breakfast is only from 8-9; That is really not allowed (on Sunday!) later / longer! Breakfast is good and especially delicious fresh fruit. It is put down and removed with such speed that it feels unpleasant. Charging electricity appears to be a 'point' in connection with fall risk / insurance, so that it can stay at 1 charge. When we drive away today, we are asked if we want fresh towels. No, you don't have to. When you return home, there is a toilet roll, bowl with bags for tea / coffee in front of the door. So no one has been inside for cleaning? Bed is good. Room looks good. Possibly due to the good maintenance of the previous owner? We booked in in february - and now the magemant was changed - and there is no restaurant anymore. A pity! That seemed to be very good? The owners now have been doing this B&B since the spring - but they still have a lot to learn!!! And... keep track of maintenance. And working on more hospitality.

Starting our Scottish tour at Smiddy Hiuse has set the bar very high. Emma and Craig could not have been more hospitable with a bar full of great wines and whisky. Our room was lovley, clean and modern. The breakfasts are homemade and delicious.

Craig and Emma, the owners, were welcoming and very helpful. The rooms were clean, and the décor was lovely. Even though our rooms overlooked the main road, it was quiet at night. The breakfast was very good and cooked to order. There was also cereal available. I wish our schedule would have allowed us to stay one more night!

Very warm welcome as soon as we arrived, owners superb people. We had ordered a small double room with breakfast. The room was exactly as stated but very modern and some lovely touches. The owners have thought about what a guest might need in a stay. The shower room had a decent size shower cubicle with higher end toiletries on hand. The cooked breakfast was delicious. We would definitely return if in the area.
