Staff were wonderful. They held my luggage as I was very early for check-in and communicated via a handheld translator. The room was very nice and spacious with an absolutely gorgeous view to the city and surrounding areas. The private hot spring tubby on the deck was also wonderful as you do get the scene to the city and providing a wonderful ambiance. The food provided was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Now the caveat is the hotel is on a hill and unless you have transportation like a rental car or taxi, getting up there is a hike and more so with luggage. The staff also provided me with a shuttle to Itō station and some snacks to my next location. Oh and the wonderful picture they took and framed for me was also so thoughtful

Terminal1Overall, it's a good place to stay! However, there are no facilities outside of the room, so while it might not be for everyone, I think most people choose this hotel specifically to avoid others, so it's not really an issue.
That said, check-in and check-out are done in the lobby. If these could be handled in the room, then you truly might not have to see anyone at all.
The check-out time slightly breaks the illusion for me, so I'm giving it a 4, but with high hopes for the future.
It would be even better if they could ask about dinner service speed beforehand.
If you do make a request, they are very accommodating.
I will definitely come again.

It was love from the first sight. Lovely and silent place that what you need after all the hustle and bustle of big cities. Hot springs are relaxing and food is delicious. Wish had more days there.
Big thanks to all the staff who created such atmosphere

The room is very spacious as it is like an apartment. The hotel is older but we can imagine it to be a luxury hotel back in its heyday. Location is no issue as we drove, and it was convenient to all the main attractions around the area eg. Mount omuro, jogasaki. The kids booked a slot in the kids playroom which is suitable for younger children. There was also a kids game which they can exchange for a prize upon completion, similar to Easter egg hunt, which made them excited and this helped us become familiar with the common areas and facilities.

Guest UserHow do I describe my first impression of Tangoya? When we arrived, the owner picked us up at Izu Kogen Station and immediately took us to Mount Omuro to start our sightseeing. They even took our luggage back to the hotel, allowing us to enjoy a wonderfully relaxed afternoon at Mount Omuro and the Izu Animal Park.
Stepping into Tangoya for the first time, I was immediately drawn to the building itself – so cozy, clean, and tidy. The furniture and design details truly showed the thoughtfulness of the hosts. Everywhere you looked was spotless. In the evening, during the blue hour, seeing the lights in our room gave us such a warm feeling, even being in a foreign country. Tangoya definitely played a huge part in our wonderful Izu experience.
We had a great night's rest, and the breakfast we ordered for the next day also reflected the owner's careful planning. When it was time to leave, they even took our luggage to Jogasaki Kaigan Station, making our onward journey incredibly smooth.
(Eating dinner in Tokyo tonight, we're flying home tomorrow. Wishing the owners all the best and a happy life. We hope to visit again someday!)

Louise_JYJYThis hotel was newly renovated in April this year, so many facilities are brand new. On both check-in and check-out days, you get free access to all hotel facilities, including the day-use hot spring bath (which usually costs extra), deep-sea spa (free swimwear rental), kids' play area, lounge (with complimentary drinks and snacks), one game of bowling, and various board games available for free rental. You can totally arrive at noon, check in, leave your luggage at the front desk, and then head to the hot spring bath to relax and spend your time enjoying the other amenities. You can take the hotel shuttle bus 🚌 or rent the hotel's golf cart with an international driver's license (not a temporary permit). Dinner and breakfast were delicious, and the breakfast even included fresh sashimi. The only minor drawback is that you have to lay out your own futon.

The seafood sashimi was a little small, but the meal was satisfactory.
The stairs from the parking lot to the front room were tight for me with bad knees.

I visited with my family, and I took my 89-year-old mother, who was a little disabled, but I contacted her in advance, so it was raining in a wheelchair, so it was very helpful to have a covered parking space.
Not only the hot springs, but also the food was diverse, and my mother, who was always thin, was surprised to eat a lot. It was very helpful to have a meal seat near the doorway.
Repeat confirmed.

In fact, the hotel is very good, the environment is very good, the room is very beautiful, the toilet is super big, and it is very comfortable to live. But the disadvantage is that the traffic is too inconvenient, unless you drive by yourself... and dinner needs to be booked one day in advance, otherwise there is nothing to eat nearby.

Dog-friendly, and that's probably the most important characteristic.
I've seen reviews from dog owners who weren't happy with something here and there. Hello, you can relax with your pet for a very reasonable price!
Although if you want royal service, then yes, you need a different hotel. It's about 10 times more expensive.
This one is quite basic. The exterior is worse than the interior. The hotel is several buildings connected by various passages, and in some places the exterior walls look a bit rundown, to put it mildly. But inside, it's clearly been completely renovated. All the walls are covered in drawings of dogs, which I was constantly captivated by. There are various public areas where you can sit, read, walk, and play with your dogs. Of course, there are hot springs. Not up to the standard of elite onsen, but an excellent plunge pool (there's a mini pool with cold water), clean changing rooms with everything you need (bring your own towels from your room), and yukatas at reception. I only met a couple of women there, so I relaxed perfectly without any hassle.
The room is larger than standard economy rooms, with space for a pet. And there are plenty of essentials like bowls, diapers, and brushes.
There's a kitchenette in the room. A balcony. A standard bathroom in the room.
The location is good if you're driving. Volcan Omuro is nearby (a 30-minute walk) and the capybara zoo, or you can walk down to the coast. There are buses, but they don't run very frequently and stop about a 7-10-minute walk from the hotel. There are few pedestrian areas here; you walk along the road. And the constant changes in elevation are quite a workout. I'm a fan of hiking and exercise, so I wasn't particularly bothered by these walks, and even then, walking alongside the road with cars wasn't exactly a joy.
But if you have your own transportation, this is an ideal option. It's quiet and peaceful, with soft music playing in the hallways...
Oh yes, the hotel itself has a small shop with some supplies (including pet supplies, including some wonderful dog figurines), but if you need more groceries, the nearest shops aren't too close: either on the way to Futo Station (near the park) or closer to IzuKogen Station. There's a stunning cherry blossom street on the way to the latter.
The tax is paid upon check-out.
