First, some context. The author of this review had over 25 years of senior management experience in the resort industry, has stayed at hundreds of hotels in over 80 countries, and visited Mexico more than a dozen times. You drive around eight miles on a dirt road to get to O Tulum. This would not be a negative for us if the delightful description and pictures were real. They aren’t. The photos on the web site grossly misrepresent the units and pretty much everything else. The reserved unit (pool view) was so unacceptable we forfeited a nonrefundable night rather than stay in it. We did stay one night by paying extra for a honeymoon suite, which was pleasant but not a rave. The pool view unit on the second floor was a tiny, dark concrete box whose main view was a fence. The “honeymoon suite” was bright, overlooking the pool with ocean behind it. But it was run down in many areas and certainly not luxurious or worth the price. The beach in front of the property is rocky and not really swimmable or even very walkable. My only explanation for the many high reviews is that the staff, who were in fact quite nice, coached guests to rave. You can, I hope, do better.

a great hotel with extremely friendly staff! The cleanliness was outstanding. We had a room with partial sea view and were so happy with it! Right across the way we could swim in the cenote.

Omg, when we walked into property we already knew we were in for a treat. The lobby it self is gorgeous, elegant, beautiful and tasteful. We were immediately greeted by fresh complementary drinks as we sat down to check in, the whole process could have not been more perfect. We even received a personalized letter printed on nice stock paper. David the general manger is a kind, hardworking, capable, wonderful, attentive and gracious host. He even drove up to get us when we saw us getting confused by google maps on the drive there. He is always in communication with you on whatsapp from before you arrive to after you leave, anything out need he is moments away, he made us felt very very cared for. The property is on the next level. The owners possess elevated taste, they are Italians I hear, the wife is a fashion designers, a small boutique is featured in the lobby and all the clothing is just so nice, fabrics are sourced around the world but hand sewn in the community, providing jobs for the women. Each guest gets a villa!!! and it is even more impressive than the photos, High high ceilings with windows, also large glass sliding doors, extremely thought out layout, perfect concept for the rooms. Main terrace walks out to a dipping pool, and the bedroom terrance features a hammock. Wall art, furniture are so beyond gorgeous. The bathroom is divine as it is indoor outdoor concept, there are beautiful palms besides you as you do your business. The towels were so plush and soft like clouds, I just wanted to put my face in it and fall sleep. In the evening we sat on the deck and just watched birds flying around, you really feel like you are in the jungle, except in a luxe villa, it also feels like you are up in a tree house except its ground floor. I must rave about the food, and chef Andre, he is authentic Italian chef and so so so nice humble and sweet, his pasta is literally the best I've ever had (and my bf) and we've been to Italy. He came out to check on us and the food, we just love him so much. I can see every villa is amazing and every corner of the property is a feast for the eyes. The main pool is again perfection, the way the it's designed is seamless. Every detail is immaculate. Our biggest mistake was we only booked one day because we had to catch a flight the next day out of Cancun airport. I know for next time I can stay for way longer because location is great for the whole area. If your visiting Tulum, you can stay here for the total of your trip no problem, Tulum is only 15mins away. Thank you so much David for taking care of us.
