Andaz Vienna am Belvedere

Vienna|1.57km from Steirerstuben
We have always had great stays with Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor. We have stayed there many times and some were for a week or two weeks at a time. Everytime, we were upgraded to an Andaz suite, which had a simple ”kitchen” with a microwave. The Andas suite is very large and with an extra guest toilet. These upgrades have always been given without any SUA. So this past weekend, becasue of our great experience with Andaz Munich, when we decided to visit Vienna, we chose Andaz Vienna instead of PH Vienna. To be on the safe side, we used points and reserved 3 nights and asked our concierge to apply a SUA to the reservation. Well, when we opened the door and saw our room, we were disappointed to see how small and basic the ”suite” was. It was still a nice room, but half the size of the Andaz suites we were used to in Andaz Munich. The hotel had more rooms available for upgrades, becasue when we went down to the FD and inquired politely if there were any other upgrades that we could get, they offered another suite with an additional €80 per day and an ”even better” suite for an additional €120 a day. We took the first offered room and found the new room to be very similar to the Andaz suite in Andaz Munich. (Later on we found out from other globalists that they have negotiated it down to €50 a day. ) We are curious as to what kind of room we would have been ”upgraded” to as a globalist, if we did not use an SUA. The room they offered after applying an SUA was the saddest that we have gotten. I think this is prob one of the reasons that Andaz Vienna is a cat 3 hotel. Except for the free breakfast, we did not feel anything special as a globalist. We did get a late check out. Andaz Vienna is a stone throw from Vienna Hauptbahnhof vs. PH Vienna is in the center of the old town. I think if we added up the extra € per day plus the taxi fares that we spent each day, it will make sense next time to stay in PH Vienna instead. It is Cat 6, requires more points, but I am sure they will treat Globalists much better than the Andaz Vienna.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay a lot. having traveled overnight we arrived very early but were able to leave our luggage and have a look around the immediate area. Supermarkets (Spar and Billa) were very close by, there is a fantastic ice cream parlour towards the station and a metro stop a couple of minutes walk away. Turn left out of the hotel and on the next street corner There is a bus stop but no ticket machine there and as we found out, you do need a ticket before you board. On this corner too is Cafe Frey where we had a relaxing coffee stop on one day and a nice evening meal the next. Back to the hotel - our room overlooked the Main Street but there was no problem with noise. The air conditioning was very welcome as was the combined bathtub/shower - my other half loved the bath, I loved the powerful shower. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have had in any hotel and we were very pleased that we had a kettle in the room and a little minibar so could make ourselves a hot drink whenever we liked. Bring slippers - the wood floors might feel a bit cold if you go outside the hot summer. We only had breakfast on one day. It was nice albeit not exceptional. The man at reception (sorry I don’t recall his name but he had glasses) was extremely helpful and a great asset to the hotel which was in contrast to a younger man there on our final morning who didn’t come across as a people person at all. A final observation - it was a bit strange having 4 steps up from reception to the lift! If we come to Vienna again I would happily book another stay here.

Rainers Hotel Vienna

The hotel is conveniently located between the train stations between MID and HBF. There are several routes to choose from in 5 minutes walk. You can buy Vienna traffic tickets for a very high price! The hotel can store luggage, has a refrigerator, a blower, the room is more spacious, the bed is very soft, there is air conditioning and heating. There are also many restaurants nearby. It is convenient to go to attractions. The shoe-shoe machine on the first floor of the lobby is good.

Very good value for money. Ctrip's standard triple room (private guest only), the actual room is a large bed, a small bed, a number of sofas, so it is suitable for family travel. The room is large and the hotel is generally clean. The breakfast was small and beautiful, and it tasted good. It was a surprise. There is no air conditioning and a floor fan is available. The floor is very old. The front desk service is friendly and can store luggage. Although it is not a friendly walking distance from the inner city, the public transportation at the entrance of the hotel is very convenient. There is only one stop on the railway station (S line) from the central railway station, which is suitable for going back and forth between Budapest and Prague.

Our 2 nights stay was as pleasant as it can get. Primarily designed for students but we had no problem spending our nights there. All basic amenities were there, non air conditioning but window could be opened and their was a pedestal fan. We dont like A/C so it was perfectly fine for us. Toilet needed a bit upgrade which the hotel says due in Jan 2024. Our double room had 1 extra bed and was quite spacious. Recommended.

The service is very good, very welcoming and very patient to solve all the problems for me. Due to the incorrect contact information of the customer service, the hotel that was thought to have been booked with an airport shuttle was found to be not available after check-in. Ctrip had the first feedback and the front desk staff was very patient and instructive. However, it is really troublesome to take public transportation to the airport by yourself, and it is easy to buy the wrong ticket. If you go to the airport, it is recommended to choose a hotel with an airport shuttle or book a charter in advance. The room is very clean, you need to bring your own toiletries, and the bathroom is very small. It is barely OK for girls (turned around and touched the door handle several times). For taller men, it is recommended to choose some large rooms. Overall quite satisfactory.
