"The reception guy in the morning shift was very rude. He was talking in a bad way and he charged me 105$ i dont know and after i asked him why i already paid everthing before check in and the bond was paid on check in. He knew that he done a mistake and he refund it and he said it will be in my account in few days without even saying sorry. He was very very impolite and rude. Its not a morning to begin. The worst"

"A converted student dormitory. The decor looks nice but it’s cramped and the shower is especially small. Sink was clogged up and didn’t drain properly. Smells coming up from the pipes. Check-in process was great - fully automated. Made the mistake of getting the breakfast buffet. I asked how much it was, the employee said $35. 30 seconds later the eftpos machine is turned towards me with $39 on it. I ask why he says “Weekend surcharge” - ok but you should just say $39 when I ask you. Misleading and weird. This isn’t America; give the real price. Wollongong accommodation market is weirdly less competitive than Sydney CBD where you can get great bargains and still decent quality rooms. Won’t be booking here again - better off spending half as much and getting a room above a pub. At least my expectations will be met."

"We arrived after hours and our check in was very smooth. Parking spots are available for free at the back of the hotel. The room that we have was room #1 and it exceeded our expections. The room is modern, beds were comfortable, the toilet was very clean. Highly recommended to everyone looking for a stay near Fairy Meadow area."

A bit aged but we knew that as we have been returning over the years. A bit disappointed as the Boatharbour restaurant unded was closed but the cafe was a pleasant addition since we were last here."

"I had a great stay at the Five Islands Hotel! The room was perfect and well equipped - shared bathroom was spotless and felt like an en-suite as was right next door to the room. Definitely worth it for a cheap stay as a solo traveller - a short train ride into Wollongong CBD. Thanks :)"
