The Best View of Lijiang Old Town

Head over the Mufu Palace for the best view of Lijiang Old Town! There are plenty of paid viewpoints in the old town, most of which need to be paid for with an entrance ticket or by purchasing food. If you're going to spend money on the view, spend it on an entrance ticket to Mufu Palace where you get a panoramic view of the town and you can explore the historic buildings and garden for the same price. Free Cultural Performance in Lijiang

Hoping to see some of Yunnan's famous ethnic minorities whilst visiting Lijiang? There are daily free performances by the Naxi people in Lijiang Old Town. Ask at your hotel, or make your way to the main square of the Old Town and follow the signs up the hill to the performance. There are several shows each day with singing, dancing and musical instruments. Pictures are allowed, but no videos. Incredible Lijiang ☁️

No wonder it has beauty in the name, Lijiang Old Town is a sight to behold. Full of souvenir shops, restaurants and performances there's plenty to see and do at all hours of the day. ☁️ It can be quite noisy at night so book a hotel on the outskirts of the town. ☁️ Make sure to climb the hills to get the best view points. ☁️ Catch the free ethnic performances in the centre of town during the day. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is famous for its varied and spectacular natural scenery, and it's well-situated above popular Lijiang Ancient Town in Yunnan Province. The mountain is often covered with snow and fog resembling a silver-white dragon from a distance. There are three cableways in the scenic area: Glacier Park, Spruce Meadow, and Yak Meadow. We have taken the first one as it’s the highest among the three. 4506 4576 4680, these are the 3 posts that will remind you how far you’ve already climbed. After getting off the cable car, 4506 will be seen first. Make sure to bring enough portable oxygen canisters as it’s not easy to breathe as you climb. 4680 is the highest peak which can be climbed by tourists and this spot gives spectacular view. Lijiang's Romance Show is a must-see when in Lijiang. This is a well choreographed show which wows its audience with lots of singing and dancing parts. It also has countless of special effects and surprises. Explore Tiger Leaping Gorge

Tiger Leaping Gorge is a scenic canyon on the Jinsha River, a primary tributary of the upper Yangtze River. This is one of the deepest gorges in the world located at the border of Lijiang and Shangri-La Yunnan Province. To enjoy a closer view, you can walk down following a trail or take the escalator. Tiger Leaping Gorge has three sections: the Upper Gorge, Middle Gorge and Lower Gorge. Blue Moon Lake Valley, 📍Lijiang

In Lijiang, visiting Blue Moon Lake Valley was one of the highlights of my trip.. The lake was part of the Jade Snow Mountain tour which we booked a day in advance 🤩 The whole lake area is stunning, the crystal clear lake and water falls with the back drop view of the Snow Mountain is what made the trip memorable. The tour costed 650 rmb for the whole day.. The walk around the lake was beautiful as there are many areas where you can take stunning pictures on top of which you can wear the traditional yunnan costume and have pictures taken 🤩 You can take the motor vehicle from one place to another and the ticket costs 60 rmb, but it takes you towards the 3 tourist spots where the views are magnificent 🤩🤩 📍Blue Moon Lake Valley 🕰 08:00 - 18:00 💰 650 rmb for the whole package & 60 rmb for the car #passionpassport #staycation #summervacation

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, 📍Lijiang

During my trip in Yunnan, we went to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang which was an extraordinarily adventure and the highlight of my trip 😍 Its best to book the tickets a day in advance as they sell out pretty quick during open season especially during the summer holidays. We manage to contact a local tour guide and spent 650 rmb which including the Blue Moon Lake, the cultural Performance and the visit to the Snow Mountain as well as the rented coats and oxygen tanks which trust me is necessary as the higher up the mountain, the less oxygen and you feel it when your walking up the stairs, and 5 mins breaks inbetween is essentials.. The ideal way to do the trip, is to visit the Moon Lake Valley first in the morning and then watch the performance show, i would advise go up the mountain around 3:30 pm as the queues for the cableway is shorter and you get up 4300 Feet in 20 mins. Getaway House, 📍Lijiang

This Moroccan inspired homestay which is based in Shute Ancient Town, Lijiang is one of the breathtaking places I have stayed during my visit in Yunnan 😍 The homestay comprises of 8 bedroom, each has its own theme and colour contrast with magnificent bathtubs being the center piece of the room. The interior aesthetic is heavily inspired by Moroccan culture and the eye to detail is just eye catching 🤩🤩. The owners are really friendly and helped us a lot throughout our stay at the accommodation. They lunch menu is absolutely delicious and reasonable priced. They have an open plan courtyard where you can sit and and enjoy the atmosphere. The mountaineering you can achieve

One of the best experience for me personally around Lijiang was a beautiful Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is so powerful and string feeling to be in the top of the mountain of 4680 m above the sea level. The beauty of the glacier (whick is not as big during summer when I was here) and a wonderful view of the valley from above are absolutely unbelievable for those who never exporienced that altitude before. However, for those who have some short breath problems or lung problems it might be dangerous, and at least another tank of oxygen should be considered to purchase, especially when you take the cable car from the touristic area in the valley. Your body doesn't have enough time to adopt like it would during the normal hiking. Usually the problems are shortness of breath, especially while climbing another 300 meters up after the cable car station, dizzyness, etc. I decided to challenge myself and take this whole trip without oxygen. It was great to understand that I could make it. The best way to go to the touristic area is to buy a package that includes 3 must have activities on this area: Lijiang Impression Show Blue Moon Valley ticket Jade Dragon Snow Mountain cable ticket And of course a drive to the touristic area and back. Touristic area is well organized and you can take a transport to any of those areas from there at any time. You can purchase it at your hotel. Every hotel has it. I paid around 300 yuan per prlerson. Lijiang Ancient Fairy tale

Lijiang old town. I didn't have much of expectation before I got there. Just thought it was another decorative place. How wrong I was! This ond town has its true spirit of the mixture of ancient cultures. We got there airplane from #xishuangbanna just in 1 hour. However, a bullet train is a great option too. It is 1 thousand years old city which is kept in great condition, and it is still the center of the local cultural life. You can find everything here. There is a huge number of coffee and tea shops where you can easily spend a half of the day enjoying the river stream's sound and the beauty of sorround. When the evening shade takes over the life music sound can be heard from every corner of the city attracting you to come in and enjoy a drink or two. Some places are getting loud and turn into night clubs working till the first lights of a new day. There is a plenty choice of food can be found here including cousins from every part of China and some options of western food. Everything is in walking distance. Local Ynnan food including the Naxi specialities should always be given a try. Famous rose pies, yak (loalcal ox) meat dried, boiled, fried is a must if you're not a vegetarian. Different products made of it's milk including sweets is something really great to enjoy together with local tea in some of the tea shops around. The professional photoshoots become more and more popular. Wearing the local nationalities' costumes (there are 15 totally) in this great ancient environment would be a great memory to capture. It is extremely easy to find a good and not expensive hostel, guest house or a 5 starts hotel. Best places to stay are in the city to have an easy access to all the local places where you can find a thousand of souvenir shops too. If there is anything additional you would like to visit around find an. agency right here to or just approach yuur hotel's manager. Yulong Snow Mountain

Spent the day jumping around the lower slopes of Yulong/ Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and it was beaut. Utter silence, zero people, and a cloudy/ moody mountain filtered through the clouds as a backdrop. Only note was that it was unfortunately not as snow-filled as it could have been but hey, just an excuse to come back in Winter. Pagoda stop the mountain in Lijiang Ancient Town closes at 6 so heads up on that, I just flew the drone there instead as I didn’t make it in time. 10/10 recommend getting out the ancient city or staying far away from the lower slopes of it - it just becomes filled with noise, not exactly the relaxing old town vibe. #createwithtrip #urbanexplorer #summervacation #nationalpark #staycation #naturalwonders

Lijiang Town

Spent the evening chilling in the park overlooking the Yulong/ Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and, gotta say, not a bad view if you have a telephoto lens. Maybe shouldn’t be too much of a surprise seeing as you have to pay around 50 rmb or so to get in to the park but with the ancient town crowded of people, this was a welcome respite, with the few people that there were only walking around, making it seem far quieter than outside. The wonders of Yunnan- Blue Moon Valley

Blue Moon Valley is a river that flows from the ice capped Dragon Snow Mountain. It is located inside the same park as the Dragon Snow Mountain, and a ticket grants you access to both. I went with a small tour group, and I found that it just made the admin a lot easier. Our tour cost around 300¥ and it included all tickets (except shuttle bus inside the park- 20¥ extra), a rain coat, 2 oxygen cans, transport between Lijiang (pick up at hotel) and Snow Mountain, and a small hot pot lunch. Tours can be booked all around Lijiang, and it's easy to find an agent. It can also be booked online. The Mountain is quite spectacular, but unfortunately i don't have great photos, as it was incredibly misty that day. Blue Moon Valley is beautiful, and one can spend some time walking next to the river and enjoying the fresh air and beautiful views. It is rich in natural beauty and cultural history. Yulong Snow Mountain

#summervacation Take a cable car ride through the clouds to 4,500m, then walk to a final elevation of >4,600m to the glacier on top of Yulong Mountain. The view is breathtaking, and the experience is exhilarating. It was worth the trip to Yunnan to go to the Snow Mountain National Park. The park is located just north of Lijiang. Be sure to visit the ancient town of Baisha on the way home for a wonderful dinner in one of its many fine restaurants, or enjoy a coffee on the deck of one of its coffee bars as you watch the sun setting behind the mountains. Lijiang Ancient City

🚕 Getting There -  45 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the railway station by car, the ancient town tourist area has multiple entrances to make access convenient. Due to COV-19 measures, visitors have to scan their 身份证 at the gate -- foreigners on the other hand will have to register in addition to showing their travel code. The amount of hassle they give you depends on who is working the gate that day. 🎡 Attractions - There's no shortage of things to do, eat and see -- in fact, the Town feels much more vibrant than typical tourist experiences elsewhere in China. Every alleyway is a gorgeous view, there's a good and diverse array of restaurants and coffee shops, and some great Yunnan-specific souvenirs in addition to obligatory Peppa Pig tchotchkes. 🏨 Hotels - You'd do well to stay in Ancient Town itself. Why stay at a Hilton or other chain when there are dozens of gorgeous converted traditional wooden courtyard homes competing for your patronage? These Inns are cozy, intimate and the Innkeepers pull out a ton of stops to stay relevant. We stayed at the Anyin Private Courtyard Inn and loved its close proximity to the entrance gate as well as the beautiful exteriors of the hotel itself (the resident Alaskan malamute was a big plus too!) 🍜 Food & Restaurants - You've got your pick of tons of Yunnan and Naxi snacks, and a good variety of coffee shops, plus the usual Chinese fare. If you're real desperate for Western food, there's even a McDonalds and Starbucks - the only ones for miles. 🛍 Shopping - Yunnan poncho? Yak's milk candy? Embroidered slippers? Leather goods? 300 year old bells? A Pikachu ukulele? Lijiang's got it all. I was actually impressed that the shopping was more region-specific and higher quality than the likes of some other tourist traps and the prices are fair, too. Lijiang Old Town

Getting There - A short two hour drive from Dali or an easy train journey from surrounding areas. Attractions - Similar to Dali Old Town but a lot more touristy. A great place to walk around and sample the different bars and restaurants. Wax work museum is a must visit… The hike up Elephant Hill is worthwhile! Hotels - We stayed at a great hotel at the top of the hill called Maryland. Excellent views and a really friendly family run business. Food & Restaurants - N’s Kitchen is a must visit for western food and friendly atmosphere. Cornerstone for quesadillas and other western treats. Lijiang also has the famous ‘strip’ of world wide fast food joints. Shopping - A bit tacky in places but huge variety of souvenirs etc. #unforgettableexperiences#summervacation

Black Dragon Pool & Elephant Hill

Black Dragon Pool, a short walk along the river from Lijiang old town. A lovely walk around the river! We also hiked up Elephant Hill - warning: there are a LOT of steps but the views are worth it! The hike took around 1hr - 1hr 1/2 to complete. Bring water! Getting There - take a public bus or private driver to the start point. you can start at the complete beginning or the nearest town which is 8k from the start. (I would recommend this as the first 8k is mostly construction) Attractions - amazing views and scenery. Blue Moon Valley - Lijiang

Getting There - busses departing from Lijiang. If you go by car, it’s around 36km from Lijiang and 100 Yuan entry without cable car tickets. cycling is beautiful and I would recommend although it’s hilly. Attractions - Blue moon valley has a few nice lakes and it’s the gateway to Jade Snow Mountain. Lovely views. Hotels - Hotels near the village around 10kms out but not too much choice. best to stay in Lijiang and just visit for the day. Food & Restaurants - there are only a couple of places to buy food and drinks. I would pack ahead to be safe. Shopping - a few shops for souvenirs but not much else for shopping. #summervacation

Lijiang Ancient Town

A very pretty and busy old town with plenty of nice resturant and bars. well signed and easy to find specific restaurants and hotels. The main Square is full of music and dancing in the evening which is not to be missed. An early morning walk is recommended if you want to beat the crowds! #summervacation

Tibet Guesthouse - last part of TLG

This is one of the final places to stay along this brilliant trail. It’s a family run business. The owner is very helpful and speaks English. Unfortunately there is some trucks passing as building is going but this is not a big issue. The owner arranged for us to be transferred for free to another hostel to take a bus. If you begin your hike a naxi guesthouse with luggage you should arrange for it to be sent to Tibet guesthouse. Gorgeous Lijiang

Lijiang Ancient City 1. Where to stay - There are so many goregous hotels, just be sure to book inside the ancient city. We stayed at the Floral Hotel Yujia: No.87 Wenzhi Lane, Wuyi Street, Lijiang, 674100, Yunnan, China. It's in a really good location, close to one of the gates to the ancient city and the hotel owners are very thoughtful and will meet you outside, help you with you bags and lead you through the maze of alleys to the hotel. The hotel is very authentic, cosy and clean. It has 2 levels and a beautiful garden inside. Rating- 3 1/2 ⭐ 2.What to do- Literally go and get lost! We thought Dali's ancient town was a maze, but this is next level! We couldn't stop taking pictures, it's so beautiful 😍. Hot tip: drop pin your hotel's location before you start exploring 😂. 3.Best restaurant 🤤- Yun Xue Li Adress: 云雪丽餐厅(木府店) I know this is a big call, but I think this is some of the best food I've had in China. Rating- 5 ⭐ 4. Coffee ☕- Yun Hotel. After hours of sight-seeing we were in desperate need of a coffee break. We stumbled upon this gem at the perfect time. It has a peaceful courtyard and lots of cosy nooks to relax and unwind. They have a fancy tea and coffee list and we can confirm their cakes are delicious! Rating - 4 ⭐ 4. Lijiang at night 🌃 Highlights - It is well worth seeing the city at night. Lijiang has some of the best street food and an abundance of fresh juice and fruit. Grab it straight off the street and eat it on the go! There are so many bars and just about all of them have live music, just take your pick! Rating- 5 ⭐ Lijiang has to be one of my favourite places in China. Its temperate climate makes it a perfect place to enjoy the warm weather and escape the scorching heat and humidity experienced else where during the summer months. Summer away from the city

When living in a city all you are looking for is a quiet and relaxing mountain retreat. The blue moon valley in Yunnan will for sure not disappoint you. It's very touristy but if you go in the early mornings you will be able to beat the crowds and might even get lucky to have full view to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the backdrop 📷 #summervacation#urbanexplorer

Shuhe Old Town near Lijiang

The Bivou is a small hostal and restaurant located in Shuhe Old Town, around 20 minutes from Lijiang Old Town. Shuhe Old Town May not be as big as Lijiang Omd Town (and without hills for those not willing to walk that much). This old town gives you a similar vibe than Lijiang’s. Rooms are great, ours was very big and comfortable, more like a spacious cabin. You have enough space to invite people to your room for board games, family time or drinking evening. Sitting in the entrance surrounded by space and calm is always a nice option, without the noise and movement you find in Lijiang downtown. Breakfast is buffet American style, so you can find toasts and omelette. Very uncommon in most Chinese style hotels. Chill hike to coffee

Although in general, hikes are supposed to be strenuous this time we decided to have a chill hike and reach a coffee destination. Well, who would say No for such a killer combo of coffee ☕ and hike. As our journey to this embarked on going through narrow streets 🛣️ of Lijiang ancient town, exploring some local traditions, local snacks and ofcourse lovely people 💕. After a hike of nearly 30 minutes, we reached AIS house which looked like would turn into a wine 🍷house in the evening. But we stayed only for coffee there, and then went to hike little more to see the lion peak from the specified pavilion. Also we found some nice hotels to stay there.
