"An excellent choice if you’re planning a trip to Rome. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from Roma Termini and about 5 minutes from Repubblica metro station. Trams and several bus lines run nearby, making it easy to get around. Both the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum, as well as many of Rome’s other popular attractions, are about a 15-20 minute walk away. The hotel is quite large, and the room we chose was very spacious and spotless, with daily housekeeping. It included everything we needed: a hairdryer, shampoo, and various toiletries (such as a shower cap and slippers). The room also had a desk, a safe, a television, a comfortable armchair, and a fairly large wardrobe. There was also a minibar and a kettle, with complimentary coffee sachets provided daily. The staff were polite and helpful whenever we needed assistance. The hotel also offers free luggage storage, which is very convenient if you arrive before check-in time or if your flight departs late in the evening. Thank you for the wonderful stay. Highly recommended!"

"Room Decor: Typical Rome hotel style. The room isn't actually in the main building (confirm this when booking); it's in a neighboring residential building. It's relatively spacious, with a high window that offers little to no view outside, only good for ventilation. Soundproofing is terrible; at night, you can clearly hear conversations, hairdryers, and toilet flushing from next door. Bedding and Towels: Normal, comfortable, and clean. Location: While advertised as being in Plaza de España, it's actually on a hill. You need to take an elevator from the metro exit to the street above. The hotel didn't email us directions beforehand, causing me to get lost following Google Maps. I ended up carrying a large suitcase up about four flights of stairs at night. When I called the hotel, the front desk said there was only one person available and they couldn't come to meet me. Although they apologized afterward, it was still a huge inconvenience. I can't believe this is the kind of service you get for 2000 euros. Recommendation: Definitely take a taxi to the hotel. There's about a four-story difference between the ground-level plaza and the street above Plaza de España. Although there's an elevator from the metro exit, you might not be able to find it without knowing the route, and the hotel didn't inform me beforehand. It's worth noting that the elevator closes late at night. I stayed two nights, and both times I had to climb a long flight of stairs to get back to the hotel because the elevator was closed. If you don't mind climbing stairs, you can ignore this."

"The room was clean, spacious, and located right in the city center. However, if you’re sensitive to noise, it might be a bit uncomfortable because the soundproofing isn’t very good. As for me, I was so tired that I slept well anyway, so I didn’t really care about the noise. There were also many Chinese people and foreigners around the building. It’s close to Roma station, so it’s very convenient."

"First time solo traveling, and it was to this beautiful place called Rome, i needed a good place to stay for four nights, and this one came to me because of the good location around the city and close to the Roma Termini, communication with the staff was good, the clean service was also good, they welcomed me with open arms! About the room itself, for a solo traveler it is enough, although i would have liked to have more natural light coming from the window, have more wardrobe space and some kitchen utensils. But overall the experience was very good, i enjoyed my time in la cittá eterna."

"I liked the hotel; the bed linen and towels were spotlessly clean, and the room was cleaned every day. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The reception is open 24 hours, and you can leave your luggage. The location is convenient—a 5-minute walk from Termini station. The only inconvenience was that the elevator wasn't working, so I had to walk up to the 5th floor. Overall, I recommend this hotel; you won't regret it."

"It was quite a challenging stay. The requests I made in the booking were completely ignored. Upon arrival, we had to change rooms, which seemed to upset the front desk staff quite a bit. A South Asian porter helped us with our luggage. I didn't have any small change, as I mostly pay with cards and rarely use cash, so I only gave him a 2 Euro coin as a tip. From that moment on, whenever he saw us, he showed absolutely no expression. I mean, it's not like I was going to give him a 200 or 500 Euro bill, right? Was it even worth that much? The hotel breakfast was excellent. The room, although not as good as the original one after the change, was still acceptable. The location is fantastic: just a few dozen meters from the train station, and there's an airport shuttle right outside. There are no issues with the location, and the area isn't as chaotic as some say. The only problem is that all the staff had rather cold and indifferent expressions, making you feel, for a moment, like you weren't even in Italy! I won't be staying here again, even with its many advantages. I just don't want to deal with their attitudes!"

"The location is excellent, right in front of the subway exit, and there's a bus stop directly outside (so people tend to gather there). There's a supermarket next door, and most attractions are within walking distance (though it's quite tiring, so cycling is more convenient). It's very easy to get to the Vatican and the Colosseum by subway. The front desk service was fantastic – warm and proactive. Even before checking in early in the morning, they invited us to slow down with a coffee (the best cappuccino I had in Rome!). We left early most days and didn't get to properly sit down for breakfast. On our check-out day, it was also too early for breakfast, but they still provided us with coffee and bread. Luggage storage was very convenient. The room wasn't large, and the air conditioning was just okay. Slippers were provided. The window overlooked an attraction, so it was a bit sunny. There's a cinema next door, which could occasionally be noisy at night, but the door insulation was good, so I couldn't hear any corridor sounds. The shower was incredibly powerful! The water pressure was strong and very comfortable!!! This was absolutely perfect!"

"My stay at this hotel was a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a great, safe neighborhood with excellent transport links. The metro is 10 minutes walk away, and from there it’s only about 15 minutes to the city center. It also takes just 15 minutes by tram to reach the train station. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Check-in was smooth and fast. They also gave me a map of Milan with all the main attractions marked and tips on how to reach them quickly. My room was very comfortable — equipped with a bed, wardrobe, hairdryer, safe, private toilet and shower, shampoo, soap, a kettle, tea, television with Internet and YouTube. I stayed on the 5th floor, and it was absolutely delightful to wake up in the morning, open the clear windows and enjoy the view. Breakfast was served at Convenient time 7:00-10:30. A huge thank you to all the hotel staff — such warm and helpful people. I would gladly stay here again."

"The hotel is very well-maintained, and the service is excellent. Stefhany checked me in at the front desk, and it was a very quick process; she was incredibly friendly. I was able to store my luggage while waiting for my room to be ready at 3 PM. Although the area outside isn't the best, with some questionable individuals due to its proximity to the terminal, there was always security nearby, and police patrols were frequent. The rooms were quiet, allowing us to rest peacefully. It's located two blocks from Termini, and there's a bus station very close by, which made getting around easy, especially when returning late at night."

Rome Hotels: Where to Stay Across Termini, Via Veneto & the Vatican

Rome Hotels: Where to Stay Across Termini, Via Veneto & the Vatican

About Rome

Rome is the Eternal City, a place where faith, politics, art, and architecture put down roots that shaped the Western world. The Colosseum, completed in AD 80 under the Flavian dynasty, remains its most iconic structure: the most significant architectural relic left by ancient Rome. Within the city's boundaries sits Vatican City, an independent state and the smallest country on earth at just 0.17 square miles, home to St. Peter's Basilica, Michelangelo's Pietà, and the Sistine Chapel. Spring is the best season to visit, when you can walk the city comfortably and take in its romantic atmosphere.

Where to Stay in Rome

Termini Central Station

Rome's main rail hub puts you steps from the metro, the airport express train, and bus connections across the city. This area skews practical rather than picturesque, but the Basilica of Saint Mary Major and the National Roman Museum are both within a short walk.

When to Book Rome Hotels

  • Book Rome hotels 2 to 3 months ahead of your stay for the best balance of room choice and rates; weekdays tend to cost slightly less than weekends.
  • For summer visits and holiday periods in Rome, lock in your hotel 6 to 12 months in advance. For off-peak months, 3 to 6 months ahead is enough.
  • Rome hotels consider the weeks between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6th) as high season, with peak pricing during this stretch.
  • Avoid booking Rome hotels on Monday through Wednesday: business travel traffic pushes rates up on those days.
  • Trip.com runs flash sales, seasonal promotions, early bird discounts, and long-stay deals that can cut Rome hotel costs. Loyalty program perks stack on top.
  • Hotels in Rome register guests automatically with the police; if you are staying in a private rental, self-register at a Questura within 3 days of arrival.

Rome Travel Essentials

Getting Around

  • Rome's metro has 3 lines (A, B, C). Line C opened a new Colosseo station connecting to Line B during the 2025 Jubilee year. Service runs 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours until 1:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • A single BIT ticket costs €1.50 (~$1.73), valid for 100 minutes with one metro ride plus unlimited bus and tram transfers. A Roma 24H pass is €7.00 (~$8.08), 48H is €12.50 (~$14.43), 72H is €18.00 (~$20.78), and the CIS weekly pass is €24.00 (~$27.71). Children under 10 ride free. Tap-and-go contactless payment works at metro turnstiles and on buses, with automatic best-fare calculation.
  • Walking beats the metro for Rome's historic core, since subway lines bypass many ancient sites. Watch for pickpockets on crowded routes, especially Bus 64 and metro Line A. Always validate paper tickets before boarding: fines for riding without one range from €100 to €500 (~$115.47 to $577.34).

What to Eat in Rome

  • The four pillars of Roman pasta are Carbonara (egg yolk, guanciale, Pecorino, black pepper), Cacio e Pepe (Pecorino and pepper only), Amatriciana (tomato, guanciale, Pecorino, chili), and Gricia (guanciale, Pecorino, pepper). None of these dishes contain cream.
  • Supplì al Telefono, deep-fried rice balls with a mozzarella center that stretches like telephone wire, is Rome's go-to street food at €2 to €3 (~$2.31 to $3.46) each. Supplizio and the Testaccio Market are top spots for them.
  • Testaccio is Rome's most authentic food neighborhood, home to the covered Testaccio Market, historic trattorias like Checchino dal 1887, and legendary thin-crust Roman pizza at Da Remo. To dodge tourist traps, skip restaurants with picture menus, "Menu Turistico" signs, or direct monument views: look for handwritten Italian-only daily specials and side-street locations instead.

Entry Requirements

  • Rome sits within the Schengen Area: tourists from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil, and South Korea can visit Rome visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
  • Passports must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure from Rome, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • The EES biometric system launched in October 2025: when you land at Rome Fiumicino or Ciampino, non-EU travelers undergo fingerprint and facial scanning at border control, replacing manual passport stamping at no cost. ETIAS online pre-screening (€7 (~$8.08), valid 3 years) is expected to launch in late 2026 for visa-exempt nationals.

Weather & When to Go

  • Rome has a classic Mediterranean climate: hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. July and August bring average highs of 31 to 32°C (87 to 90°F), while January is the coldest month with highs of 12 to 13°C (54 to 56°F) and lows around 3 to 4°C.
  • The best window for Rome is April to May and September to October, with mild temperatures (spring 10 to 22°C, early autumn 16 to 27°C), manageable crowds, and lower prices than the summer peak. August is Ferragosto, when many locals leave and some family-run businesses close.
  • November is Rome's wettest month (80 to 115mm of rain); July is the driest (around 20mm). Winter (December to February) has the fewest tourists and lowest hotel rates, plus Christmas markets and nativity scenes.

※ Prices and policies vary by season and are subject to change. Confirm with official sources before booking.

AAndrei SobolevskiHiSuite Rome has two kinds of accommodation: regular hotel rooms and two or three small two-bedroom apartments, each with separate entrance. As we are a family of five (two parents and three children aged 16, 7, and 1,5 years), we got an apartment. The apartments are located in a separate house just opposite to the hotel reception on a narrow and truly authentic street in the old center of Rome, in a few minutes' walk from Piazza Navona. Each apartment has an entrance door with a codelock, which opens into a living/dining room with a kitchenette complete with a fridge, a coffee machine, and a toaster. One of the two bedrooms is one level above, another is one level below, underground (and without natural light), all three levels being connected with staircases. From the photos in the hotel website it was not clear that the apartment is organized in as many as three levels (although the staircase was of course clearly visible), but this is a nice detail adding much to the cozy character of the space. Note however that living in this space involves using stairs a lot. Both bedrooms are equipped with shower and toilet, and there is one wardrobe with a small safe upstairs. The tasteful decoration of the apartment, as well as the hotel's lobby, deserves special mention, and every morning it was delightful to see the beautiful Baroque frames of windows just opposite to ours. The hotel is apparently owned by a family, and the owners were really friendly and thoutful. We kept contact via email and WhatsApp with Laura, Giulia, and Mike (Michele?), and this experience was pleasant and memorable. The hotel team helped us book comfortable and reasonably priced transfers from the Fiumicino airport and to the Termini train station, and both taxi drivers were punctual and dependable. We had an early inbound flight, and the hotel provided us with early check-in free of charge (without us asking for it). On the day of checkout our luggage was kept until the taxi arrived in the evening. The hotel also provides to its guests a memo with a useful selection of eating and cultural addresses, and Laura readily gave lots of practical advice regarding visiting the city's attractions. HiSuite Rome does not have breakfast room, but there is a cafe next door. We however did not use it, because it was nice to have our own breakfasts at our place. All in all, our experience with HiSuite Rome is perfect. They provide normal service that you expect from a hotel of this class, but do everything with much attention to detail, in a thoughtful, friendly and dependable manner that goes beyond what's expected. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wishing to explore Rome from a nice and historical location, and will check their website first should we be coming to Rome again.

GGuest UserThe Unbeatable Gateway: Why This Hotel is My New Travel Holy Grail Just stumbled upon a hotel so perfectly positioned, it feels like discovering a secret cheat code for seamless travel. Forget everything you know about compromise – this place delivers *everything* without the premium price tag. Its location isn't just good; it’s **utterly transformative** for any traveler, especially weary souls like me arriving from long-haul flights. **The Transport Trifecta: Your Effortless Escape Hatch** Stepping out the lobby door feels like holding a master key to the city. Directly downstairs? **Airport buses**! No frantic taxi hunts or confusing shuttle transfers. After a 14-hour journey, seeing that bus stop literally steps away, offering a smooth, affordable ride back to the terminals, was pure bliss. It’s the kind of stress-eraser you only appreciate after dragging luggage across multiple blocks elsewhere. But it gets better. A stone's throw away lies the **central train station**. Not some distant suburban outpost, but the genuine hub connecting you to *every* district, landmark, and hidden gem. Regional day trips? Easy. Exploring quirky neighborhoods? Done. Late-night returns? No problem. The station's comprehensive network meant I could spontaneously chase a sunset view across town or visit a famed museum district without a single transport worry. Freedom, truly unlocked. **The Heartbeat of the City: Steps, Not Strides** Here’s the magic dust: **walkability**. Forget ”close to the center” meaning a 20-minute trek or an expensive Uber. The vibrant city core – pulsating with main squares, iconic cafes, bustling markets, and those irresistible little boutiques – is a mere **10-15 minute stroll** away. I timed it! Wandering home through charming, illuminated streets after dinner, gelato in hand, soaking in the atmosphere without racing for transport… that’s the authentic travel experience we crave. You’re *in* the city, not just near it. **Beyond Logistics: The Pulse of Convenience** The immediate neighborhood isn’t just a transit zone; it’s alive! Need a midnight snack? Corner store open late. Craving authentic local breakfast? Charming bakery two doors down. Forgot your adaptor? Electronics shop around the corner. Pharmacies, casual eateries, coffee spots – it’s all there, woven into the fabric outside your door, making daily needs effortless and adding genuine local flavor. **The Jaw-Dropper: Value That Feels Like a Steal** Given this prime location and unparalleled connectivity, you’d expect a premium price, right? Prepare for a shock. The rates are **remarkably affordable**. It’s not just ”budget-friendly”; it’s **outrageous value**. I kept double-checking, convinced there must be a catch. Clean, comfortable room, essential amenities, friendly staff, *and* this location? For this price? It feels less like paying for a hotel and more like investing in a seamless, enriching travel experience. **The Verdict: Don't Hesitate, Just Book** Honestly? This hotel isn't just a place to sleep; it's the ultimate **strategic basecamp** that elevates your entire trip. The unbeatable combo of instant airport access, total city-wide rail connectivity, effortless walkability to the core, vibrant local amenities, *and* genuine affordability is simply unmatched. It removes friction, saves precious time and money, and lets you focus purely on experiencing the destination. After raving about it to fellow travelers at breakfast, I watched them immediately pull out their phones to check availability. It’s that obvious. This isn't just *a* good option; **it’s the smartest choice you can make**. Book it before everyone else discovers this golden spot – you’ll thank yourself from the moment you step off the plane until your final, effortless journey back to the airport. An absolute traveler's triumph!

AAnonymous UserI recently stayed at this hotel and while there were a few positives, the overall experience was disappointing due to a series of overlooked details and frustrating issues. To start with the good—the staff were great: friendly, helpful, and informative. They made an effort to assist whenever asked, and that hospitality was appreciated. The location was decent, about a 30-minute bus ride to the city center. It’s not exactly central, but manageable if you’re okay with the commute. The room was reasonably clean upon arrival, but the quality of housekeeping declined quickly. A lotion stain I accidentally left on the shower floor was never cleaned, and instead of actually scrubbing the area, housekeeping simply placed a mat over it—as if to hide it. Initially, the room came stocked with two sets of towels, but after the first day, only one of each was replaced. While the booking was for one person, maintaining the original quantity would have shown a bit more care and consistency. There were several small inconveniences that added up. For example, the room phone had no directory, so I had no idea how to contact the front desk or reach any services. On top of that, the air conditioning didn’t work for the first two days, which turned out to be because the previous guest had asked for it to be turned off, and it was never reset. It took me that long to realize I had to ask the concierge to enable it again. In a properly managed hotel, the AC should be reset and ready for the next guest without needing to make a request. The continental breakfast was another letdown. The scrambled eggs were dry, lumpy, and had a strange grey tint. The bacon and sausages were cold, and orange juice was served in plastic cups. There was very little fresh fruit, and to top it off, they had a random speaker on the floor playing radio ads during breakfast—a strange and unpleasant ambiance for a morning meal. I’m glad I didn’t pay for breakfast for my entire stay, because it definitely wasn’t worth it. The Wi-Fi was by far the worst I’ve encountered in any hotel. It disconnected constantly and, when connected, barely reached speeds of 5 Mbps. For a hotel in a tourist-heavy area, this is unacceptable and suggests a clear lack of awareness of guest needs—especially for travelers who rely on Wi-Fi to plan outings or stay in touch. Noise was another major issue. The elevator makes a blaring siren-like noise when it opens, which woke me up every single morning. The walls and doors are paper-thin, making it easy to hear people walking or talking outside, and the doors slam shut loudly, adding to the disturbance. Finally, while not the hotel’s fault, there were a few homeless individuals living around the property, which might make some guests feel uneasy, particularly at night. All in all, while the staff were excellent and the location worked, there were just too many frustrating and avoidable issues—poor housekeeping, unusable Wi-Fi, subpar breakfast, noise problems, and a lack of attention to guest experience basics. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless the hotel makes significant improvements across the board.

SSonya_theoneWe've stayed at this hotel twice. The premium room and standard room only differ in size and the presence of a desk. The renovation is brand new, with a fresh and understated design. The elevator operates silently but is slow. The soundproofing between rooms could be better, but if you just need a place to sleep while traveling and want to quickly depart from Termini for other parts of Italy, it's ideal and budget-friendly.

PPhillipsBenjaminWe stayed here for four nights in June of 2025. The location of the hotel is generally good for getting to some of the more noteworthy site (Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc.). There's a metro station around 8 minutes walk away, which opens up most of the rest of the city pretty well. We walked from here to the Vatican, which took around 35 minutes, but would be less than half that by cab. The surrounding area is great for clothing shops, but the food we found nearby was mostly so-so, and frequently over-priced tourist fare, though I'm sure if you walk a little farther from the hotel you can find some good options. The room itself was booked for a family of four, and was comfortable. The bathroom and shower had good water pressure, and the AC worked just fine. Some of the sheets were not quite clean, but we just didn't use the one we found slightly dirty. The beds were comfortable and a good size. The room and hotel have little to no facilities, so you're really just paying for room and the location. The exterior entrance is not well marked, and we actually walked past it on the street several times. If you're thinking of booking here, I'd recommend just looking for the GAP store which is directly across the street, much easier to find. Our interactions with the hotel staff were limited. We received a number of automated messages, some of which were contradictory, or had out of date information. After booking and paying for the room (a non-refundable booking) we were told there was an extra ”city tax” not included which would need to be paid before checking in which amounted to around an extra $90 or so, and the offered price of an airport transfer service went up as soon as we requested it (from 85 euros to 95). The hotel arranged the transfer service for us, but the driver left the airport before we could get out of the passport control due to another booking. The driver service showed up at the hotel at the time the flight was supposed to arrive, even though the flight was late, and you'd expect them to know that going through passport control takes easily an hour, so this seems to be quite poor planning on behalf of either the hotel or the service. We ended up taking a taxi from the airport which was also slightly over half the price of the transfer service, so I'd recommend skipping their service, it seems like a rip-off. Taxis from the airport to the city center seem to be subsidized by the government, and were a fixed price of 55 euros (for a normal size car big enough for 4 people) at the time we visited. The train from the airport is also not a bad idea if you're comfortable using the metro, as the train station is just 3-4 metro stops from the nearest metro station to the hotel (Spagna). Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but felt like we mostly paid for the location.

ИИлья КотикTLTR: This is not a 4 star hotel. The location is great, but literally everything else is a compromise… Let me start with 2 advantages of this hotel, since it won’t take long. The first is location. You literally take the north exit from Roma Termini to Via Marsala, cross two streets and take a right - and you are there! It’s that simple :) The other advantage is breakfast: it’s the same everyday, but it’s decent, much better than I expected. And now to the disadvantages… First and foremost: there was black mold in the bathroom! Lots of it. Why “lots”? Because the acceptable amount of mold in the bathroom for a 4 start hotel is zero. Second, the bed didn’t have a headboard. Do you know the acceptable number of headboards for a 4 start hotel? You guessed it: at least one :) The bed was actually two beds crammed together (which I don’t mind), but there was no duvet cover! Seriously: there was a sheet to sleep on, a separate sheet to cover yourself, a warm blanket and a sheet to put over it! Needless to say that during the night the sheet that was between the body and the blanket would be carried away. And yeah, all this 3-in-1 construction was tucked under the mattress like the future of Italy depends on it! What the actual ****?! Do you sleep like that at home? I bet you don’t; so, why would you sleep like that in a 4 star hotel?! Thirdly, there were no slippers, no microwave, no ******* table to eat from, no teakettle, no iron, no shower curtain, nothing! What we got was two paper cups in the bathroom and that’s it. 4 star hotel class service, right? It gets better! If we wanted hot water, we had to go downstairs from the 4th floor to get it from a broken *** mid-sized boiler located right next to the reception desk! Dear guests of this 4 star hotel, please don’t mind my wife getting some hot water for her noodles while you check in and pay tourist tax, it’s fine. When in Rome, you know… Fourthly, the quality of everything in the room was not great… to say the least. The walls were dirty, the hair dryer was really bad, the bottom of the bathroom door was broken. What the ****, guys?! Have you heard of amortization of assets or something? Not cool, not cool. I pay the tax, you fix the ******* door, ok? Lastly, my favorite… there was such a big gap under the front door of the room that everything that was happening on the hotel floor sounded like it was happening in our corridor. I don’t mind people walking past our door, but it really felt like there constantly was a stranger in our room. Couldn’t sleep well because of that. And let me tell you that there was some loud love-making somewhere on the floor… and I felt like a couple was ******* in our corridor! 4 star hotel experience? Not by a bit… All right, let me tell you why I put such a stress on this “4 star hotel” thing. The problem is that in Italy stars in a hotel don’t mean anything! I mean, they mean that the building has a certain amount of facilities, space, etc., but there is no correlation with the quality of staying in a room. Seriously, we stayed in a 3 star hotel in Venice and the room there was much better! To sum it up, this hotel is nice if you need a quick stay next to the railway station… but if you plan to spend more than two days in it… just pick something else if your budget allows. If not: well, you still got the location and the breakfast :) P.S. Cheers to the Asian and the African girls at the reception desk! You are the best :)
