This was once the site of the new Shanghai City in the Greater Shanghai Plan.
Today's Shanghai has been re-planned and positioned during the Republic of China period. There was a big Shanghai plan to re-create a new urban area in Shanghai. The center of this city is near the current Yangpu Wujiaochang. The city government building, once the Shanghai Municipal Government, is now located in the Shanghai Sports Academy.
The old government building has now become a landmark of the Shanghai Sports Academy, and the huge two playgrounds at the entrance seem to add momentum to his majestic feel.
