Guangzhou Dafo Temple was built in the Southern Han Dynasty (917-971 AD), named Xinzang Temple, and was built for the twenty-eight places in the sky by Liu Yan, the king of the Southern Han Dynasty. In the Ming Dynasty, it was expanded to Longzang Temple, and later changed to the Patrol Office. In the first year of Qing Shunzhi (1649), the office was destroyed by fire. In the spring of the second year of Emperor Kangxi, the King of Pingnan, Shang Ke, donated his salaries by himself, imitating the official temple system of the capital, and rebuilding the temple in the local style of Lingnan, which has a high cultural and artistic value. The Daxiong Palace is located north to south, with a construction area of 1,200 square meters. It is still the crown of Lingnan. Although it has been eroded by wind and rain for more than 300 years, its style still exists. The high-quality wood donated by Wang of Annan (now Vietnam) is used as the frame of the beam and column, and it is still basically intact. In the eleventh year of Yongzheng (1733), Liu Shu, the prefect of Guangzhou, chose the Great Buddha Temple as the place to announce the edict, and built a proclamation pavilion in front of the hall. At the same time, the Weituo Hall, the Jialan Hall and the east and west gates of "Buddha Realm" and "Zen Forest" were built on both sides of the main hall. At this time, the scope of the monastery expanded, Buddhist affairs prospered, and its reputation spread far and wide, becoming one of the five major jungles in Guangfu.
