Reviews From Real Travelers
The best thing about this hotel is the view. The mountain views from the windows, seating area and restaurant are really great. The location is at the entrance of Katkat village. It's a bit far from the city. There are cafes and restaurants near Dumseong-dumseong, but it is just a mountain. Suitable for those who want a quiet place. Even if you go to Edie, the staff will be friendly and kind. However, the room does not have air conditioning. At night, I could tolerate cold things, but the whole body is hard to get wet.

I arrived at the morning by night sleep bus from Hanoi and checked in. It's popular, but I used it cheaply alone. I told you what I didn't know, and you took me to the motorcycle and told me the location. It's behind the Elite Panorama Hotel and there's no sign but the location is excellent It's a sure place to stay.

It was really good. It's my first trip to Vietnam that there was no wifi. It's not far from the main street so it's easy to move around. Everything was well prepared, so there was nothing to talk to at the reception. The price is also cheap

This is the first time I've encountered a toilet seat and lid that don't match – it was a bit unsettling to sit on. I could frequently hear toilets flushing from other rooms in the middle of the night, suggesting the plumbing design might be quite old. Breakfast was very mediocre, and the smell of toasted waffles was overpowering. The hotel is very eco-conscious, with reminders everywhere to conserve water. The air conditioning lacks in-room controls or a remote, and it occasionally stops working. A staff member even came in to make the bed while I was at breakfast.

Honestly, the bathroom in the basic room type was quite small, and the water quality was just average; my shower head turned a bit yellow. Overall, the room hygiene was good, and the front desk staff were very friendly. Upon check-in, we received drink vouchers that could be used at the lounge on the first floor, but the selection was quite limited. The breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular, but it had all the essentials. The hotel's location is very convenient. Just a short walk through the alley next to it leads to the Chang Klan Night Bazaar, and it's not far from the Michelin-starred restaurant Ekachan. We stayed here for two nights, and then moved to the Old City for the remaining two nights. Due to time constraints, we didn't get to visit the rooftop bar, but I heard it's quite good. The hotel attracts a lot of European and American tour groups; every time we returned, we'd see tour buses coming and going. However, luckily, we didn't hear much noise in our room this time.

The room was clean and tidy, and the facilities were new. It was a great experience. The hotel is right in the heart of the old city, with the main street just outside and the night market a 10-minute walk away. The hotel offers a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle; stepping inside feels like a vacation paradise, while stepping outside immerses you in local city life. I regret only staying one night as I wanted to experience different areas of Chiang Mai. I'll definitely be back!

Night Bazaar Area Chiang Mai|1.28km from city center
Because the noise from motorcycles and tuk-tuks on the streets of Thai cities is deafening, I usually try to book hotel rooms in Thailand that don't face the street. Before booking this hotel, I checked its location on an electronic map and found it to be excellent, truly a prime spot. The hotel is oriented east-west, with rooms on the west facing the street, and rooms on the east overlooking the hotel pool and garden. Behind the pool is a park, making it very quiet overall. The hotel offers several room types: basic rooms, deluxe rooms, suites, executive suites, presidential suites, and connecting rooms. Only the basic rooms allow for orientation selection; the mountain view basic rooms face the street, while the pool view basic rooms do not. Before checking in, I simultaneously booked a deluxe room and a pool view basic room. About a week prior, I emailed the hotel asking if they could arrange a deluxe room not facing the street. Perhaps due to some reasons, the hotel did not seem to prioritize my request, replying that they couldn't guarantee it. So, I had no choice but to cancel the deluxe room booking, which was quite a shame. Upon check-in, I was assigned a connecting pool view basic room. It was then that I realized connecting rooms and basic rooms are intersecting room categories, essentially splitting a connecting room suite for two families. It felt a bit like two families sharing a single room in a 'tube building' during difficult times in the last century, separated by a curtain. The two rooms were divided by a very thin wooden door, and I could hear conversations from the adjacent family very clearly. Coincidentally, the family next door had a little boy who loved to scream and a mother with a loud, high-pitched voice, which was incredibly disruptive. If I made any noise, they could hear it too, lacking any privacy (Picture 1). So, that evening, I spent several hours on the phone with the hotel to arrange a room change. I was finally moved to a non-connecting, higher-floor basic room facing the street. According to the hotel's price list, street-facing basic rooms are cheaper than non-street-facing ones, which in my opinion, was like being assigned a downgraded room type. After moving to the street-facing room, it was indeed quite noisy, making it difficult to sleep. The motorcycle noise in Chiang Mai usually doesn't quiet down until around 4 AM, and the midnight roaring is like a sudden thunderclap, especially hard to ignore. I slept in the street-facing room for three nights. On the first night, I only slept for 4 hours. On the second night, I slept better because I was exhausted from the previous day. On the third night, I barely slept at all. So, on the fourth day, I spent more effort writing an email to request another room change, which the hotel approved. Finally, I successfully moved to a non-connecting, non-street-facing basic room. It was very quiet and had a great view (Pictures 4, 6). The hotel room had an umbrella available, and it was of good quality, a large long-handled umbrella, a bit inconvenient to carry. One day, I lost the umbrella after going out, which made me quite anxious for a while, fearing I'd have to pay an exorbitant compensation. I didn't sleep well. After repeated communication, I paid 500 Thai Baht, which was not too bad after all. During check-in, the front desk staff tried to upsell me to an executive lounge access. Initially, the quote was 1500 Thai Baht. After realizing I wasn't interested, they even voluntarily lowered the price to 1200 Thai Baht. It was my first time encountering a hotel front desk pushing products like that, quite unique. The hotel pool is large (Picture 5), and the gym is very well-equipped. There's also a jacuzzi in the changing room. There weren't many swimmers. There were two lifeguards and two service staff around the pool. You could ask the service staff for free drinking water or order food. The pool is open from morning until 7 PM, even in the rain. The gym is open 24 hours. After 8 PM, you need to sign a document at the front desk to use the gym. There's a changing room in the restroom near the swimming pool, or you can change in the gym changing room and pass through the gym to reach the pool. After swimming, you need to walk straight through the lobby back to the gym changing room. Some say the hotel rooms are a bit old, and indeed, there are many scratches on the floor and the lamps are quite mottled (Pictures 2, 3), but it doesn't affect the stay. The room hygiene is very good, and the rooms are much larger than similar hotels in the area, so the minor flaws don't detract from the overall quality. The hotel seems to value Chinese guests, as they have staff who speak Chinese. Notably, security checkpoints are set up at the entrances of the first and second floors, reminiscent of the familiar feeling of 'all bags must go through' in Chinese subways, even when traveling abroad. After checking in, I registered as a member of the hotel group and found a promotional offer: 20% off within a $150 limit, which turned out to be more cost-effective than other platforms.

At just over 300 during peak season, the price is acceptable. The location is excellent, right next to the old city, and it's only a 10-minute walk to Tha Phae Gate. The room is quite spacious but a bit dated; it can't compare to the newer, more modern guesthouses and hotels. There were quite a few Chinese guests. The breakfast is really good; I ate well every day. Although the variety isn't huge, it suited me perfectly.

The shower hot water needs an instruction - turn on wash basin hot water at a good pace, then turn on the shower(best preference the rain shower overhead) at the constable HW pressure you desire. When finished turn off the wash basin HW. Overall and excellent stay in a great location mext to Thapae gate.

The location is incredibly convenient; just across the moat is Tha Phae Gate, and there's a Sunday night market. Not far behind the hotel are the famous Ffparking Durian Sister and Warorot Market. Many internet-famous restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel. This hotel doesn't seem to do much marketing in China, as most of its guests are from Europe and North America. The breakfast is purely Western style. The only downside is that it's not a 'picture-perfect' hotel that young women might prefer, and the facilities are a bit dated.

There are many massage parlors near the hotel, and a 7-Eleven is just a 5-7 minute walk away. It was very relaxing to buy food and microwave it directly on the first floor of the hotel. It's also convenient if you need to store anything cold. It's a shame I missed out on the hotel's free breakfast, which is served from 7 AM to 10 AM, as my itinerary was already set. There's even a swing set outside the hostel floor. They offer free luggage storage and there's an elevator, which is quite convenient. I found my room type to be clean, with no insect issues, and the bed was comfortable and spacious. The hotel's name is short and convenient for ride-sharing apps, making it easy to get back. The staff were very friendly and tried their best to help with anything needed. I even asked them to hold an item for a friend staying on the hostel floor to pick up at the front desk.

Pros: The bedding was very clean and comfortable. Cons: The price was a bit high, and the space was small. Areas for improvement: The pool was very small, though good for photos. The gym was also tiny, and the treadmill and bike areas had no air conditioning or fans. My room was facing the street, so I could see pedestrians and motorcycles from my window, which was a bit of a downside as the motorcycles were noisy at night.

Great location and staff, but cleanliness needs improvement. Overall, Viangluang is a decent hotel with a fantastic location. The staff were very nice and helpful throughout our stay. If you are looking for good value for money and don't prioritize luxury, this is a solid choice. However, there are some areas that need attention: • Cleanliness: It wasn't amazing; we noticed some stains on the towels and bed sheets. • Shower: The water pressure was inconsistent (fluctuating between strong and weak), and the showerhead seemed partially clogged. • Breakfast: It was quite average and basic. Bottom line: Good option for budget-conscious travelers who want a great location, but don't expect a high-end experience.

I recently stayed in a King Room at Novotel Chiang Mai. The overall environment was clean, the bed was comfortable, and all basic services met the brand's expected standards. The only issue that the hotel management team needs to seriously address and promptly improve is the inspection and repair of bathroom facilities in the guest rooms. During my stay, I found that the power outlet next to the sink, intended for the hairdryer, was completely non-functional. Initially, I thought it was just an isolated fault in my room, but after asking friends who were staying there as well, I discovered that the socket in the same location in their room was also broken. A faulty hairdryer socket caused considerable inconvenience for daily grooming. The fact that the exact same problem occurred in two consecutive rooms indicates that this is not an isolated incident, but rather an oversight in guest room maintenance inspections. I hope the hotel will conduct a comprehensive check and repair of all bathroom outlets throughout the property. If this hardware issue can be improved, the overall accommodation experience will be even better.
