The environment, location, facilities, including the front desk service are very good, especially the environment, but today's dinner experience is really disappointing. First of all, after we ordered the meal, the first pre-feast was quite fast, but we did not prepare a plate for us. After leaving 17 Mile Drive, we originally just planned this as a rest stop along Highway 1, so we chose a ground-floor room. It was very clean, came with toothbrushes, Marvis toothpaste, and a Dyson hairdryer – really thoughtful touches that surpassed many 5-star hotels in the US. Breakfast was good, and the baked goods were delicious. It's close to Carmel Beach, and we happened to catch the sunset, which was absolutely beautiful.

Carmel is a beautiful town and the hotel is in the town centre, so the location is perfect. Room was a little dated, but reasonably clean. On the night we arrived to check in, staff was super friendly and helpful. He gave us detailed instructions regarding our room and parking, also local restaurants recommendations. His service was a 5 star! On the morning of departure, we vacated the room and checked out at 9am. We went for a stroll in the town, and returned after an hour. When we returned at 10am I asked the staff (not the friendly staff helped us check in) if I can use a restroom. Knowing we just checked out, the staff bluntly replied there isn’t public toilet in the hotel, so we’d better use the one in the local park. When we asked if we could go back to our room to use the toilet as it’s still early. His said the cleaners were already in. We then walked to our car which was next to our room, only to find the cleaners hadn’t been at all. Zero hospitality, disappointed.

A very nice little hotel or inn, located in the heart of Carmel, within walking distance of the town and the beach. The hotel facilities are relatively old, especially the restrooms, but it does not affect your holiday experience. There are parking spaces in the courtyard, and the front desk will issue you a parking permit for each room, but there is no guarantee that there will be a parking space, and you should be able to park on the street. There are many restaurants nearby, and one of them is a great breakfast restaurant with a comfortable taste and atmosphere. An American breakfast and a cup of coffee are second to none.
