My wife and I were staying over at the Penaga hotel and we were walking the streets of Georgetown and stumbled upon this hidden gem and decided to take a closer look. We checked in here on 11/05 room No.6 just for a few hours stay to freshen up as we needed to wait until 9pm got our flight back to Sabah. All staff was super friendly and welcoming. Especially that Malay associate who was very polite and professional. He even took the extra step to personally sanitize the room for us to ensure that we were comfortable with our stay. Kudos to him. Room was very simple, nice and clean. I really wished we had more time to enjoy the room and it’s surroundings. Although they not have a TV in the room but they have basic things like safety box and hair dryer which was great. At the back of the hotel they have a common area which is somewhat like a balcony where you can chill and eat or drink your stuff. Unfortunately we were too tired to take photos of the room but overall, we were very pleased with our stay and friendly staff. We will come back. Thank you.

Very good, very cost-effective. First of all, the hotel is not big, so they take good care of each room and guest. The Indian brother at the front desk was very enthusiastic, introduced us to the focus of Penang and marked them on the map one by one. The second hotel is in a very good location, close to Shantou Street, very convenient to eat. Not far from all the attractions, this location is very good. The third room is well equipped with high quality spare parts and facilities. Highly recommended.

Great location, lovely property with a homely feeling (with a courtyard), good variety of breakfast topped with excellent customer service makes this property more than worth a stay. We stayed for 3 nights and all the key areas to visit in Georgetown are within 10 -15 mins walk with access to the main street 2 mins away. Room and bathroom are very clean, modern with the heritage touch. Highlight was the staff and their customer service with an attitude to help us in every possible way.

If you want to make shared bathroom pls make sure its clean because all people use the bathroom. The room was okay but you can hear people walking since its made from wood. Got few spider web on the ceiling and the room is quite small for the price. If you want to have a short stay maybe its okay but if you want to have long stay you might find other place that have private bathroom and spacious room to walk around. Its not 24hours receptionist bcs when got back around 2am there’s no one at the counter. Overall the place is okay but please replenish and refurbish furnitures to help customer have a good stay at your hotel TQ

First experience with capsule hotel bed and dormitory with 3 other lovely female travellers. Fortunately, it was an experience exceeding all expectations!! First WOW - look at all the cultural heritage, beautiful art, antique items and furniture, the Feng Shui Koi pond, water fountain, greenery! OMG- better than visiting a museum- you get to live and experience it!!! Second WOW- looking for street food? Walk around and you see stalls selling the local delish: SATAY, Lok Lok, Char Hor Fun and other stalls. Also, the handicraft stores with Batik and wooden sculptures! Other amenities : open swimming pool, 3 shower room next to it and hair dryer (tip: the water pressure and shower much more satisfying compared to bathtub or shower inside dorm room, and a game/ relax room filled with couch to wind down after a tiring day. and just Final WOW- the receptionist and staffs are helpful and well-informed! Guests were invited to join in the fun and you can see guests lounging in the open, relaxed and chatting with the staffs! Room for improvement: mosquitoes... can't seem to get rid of them ( so be prepared) and the places are considered clean... but not spotless. I hope this culturally rich building can be well maintained, and the places be properly upgraded even more as it succeeds as one of the most valuable hotel experience in Georgetown 🥰

Honestly, feel very sorry for this hotel... They just took over from the previous owner and revamp it to look super nice and all facilities that are needed will be provided (drinking bottles in the room, water dispenser shared fridge in the hall, bath shampoo in the shared toilet, bath bags , adjustable wall-hooked smart TV, etc), way better than the 3stars hotel! Its such a rare find to pay such price and having 2 beds! The staffs are full of sweet smiles and kindness and very polite, they deserve praises for their good attitude and hospitality! If the night didn't come, this would have win our family's favorite of all time! If the night didn't come, I would crazily shared all the lovely photos and recommend to friends and families.. If only.. We stayed in Family 3 Pax - Shared Bathroom (lvl2), which is facing the main street. During the day, we noticed the street noise was quite loud in the room but is bearable for the on-off motorbikes and buses. HOWEVER, by night time, we were caught by surprise! There's a closed bar, 1945, with booming music going on non-stop with disco-like party! And because the room wall is just connected to this bar/restaurant, the vibration from the blasting music was really strong. There seems to be some unauthorized activities behind the closed door as you can hear the patrons getting too high, screaming on the street. And lots of motorbikes randomly parked around, so we were pretty worried about car getting vandalized/scratched as well. The party only ends by 3AM in the morning, so which means we only get to sleep by then. I did noticed that most of the reviews didn't mentioned this, only 1 or 2 so either everyone else's room is not directly affected like this room or they're out partying too :) I would say... if you're young and not a light-sleeper, do give this hotel a chance but just skip this particular room!

Walking distance to almost everything in Georgetown: blue mansion, little india, St. George Chapel, Fort Cornwallis, Queen Victoria’s Clock Tower, etc. Lots of restaurants around. The hotel is small with two levels only. The room is clean and in good shape. It is not sound proof though. You can hear noises from outside and in the evening, the lights from the hallway comes through the lover glass above the door. A bit disturbing especially if you can’t sleep with lights on. If they could turn if off after midnight, would be great. Hot shower is excellent but the positioning of the shower is a bit weird. Right on top of the toilet. They provide towels, shampoo/body wash and lotion and tv but so far only sports channel is English. Hot and cold water for drinking is outside the ally. They also have a coffee shop that is open early in the for breakfast until afternoon. The mosque is right next door and the first prayer of the day starts at 06:00hrs.

The location of the apartment is very good. On the left is the GAMA supermarket, and on the right is the landmark of Everbright. Fruits and snacks have their own favorites! Call the front desk before arriving at the hotel, because the front desk is not here, so call in advance and the hotel will send staff to wait at the door. When you call, you need to speak English. The location was easy to find, check-in process was smooth, and everything was great. The receptionist was very friendly, and the cleanliness of the room was fine. Me and my friend booked the same room type but we had 2 different designs of room, she had bigger room with smaller toilet, and conversely mine was bigger toilet but smaller room. I prefer hers as my room is very small and there are no place for our luggage. Also, the view of my room is just the wall of other building, while my friend's is the nice view especially at night (can see the bar and the food truck downstair). Suggest contact the receptionist to confirm the room design before you book. BTW their corridor was super nice. Overall, highly recommended and satisfied!

The location is great. Breakfasts very good. Perfect pool to cool down (cold water, seriously), good choice. For me, the location and the swimming pool (because of my daughter) is ok. I recommend it. But: Zero wardrobes, cupboards etc. We had to keep everything in suitcases and there was not even a towel rack in the bathroom. It is much more important than an extra toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. Besides, calls from a nearby mosque are awakened. These are the details that irritate. And the pillows - high and hard. In addition, the hotel complies with the description and you can safely spend a few nights in it.

A Chinese-owned bed and breakfast is very close to the surname bridge. There are also many Chinese-opened tea rooms for breakfast. The room is small, the toilet is cool, and no one can speak Chinese when the boss is absent. The grand birthday of the Tiangong, I do not know whether it is fireworks or someone hit the window. OPH room is clean and very small, almost like a square cube. A bed to sleep, a working table and a relatively spacious bathroom. Air-condition and water heater works really good. It started off rough. Got into the hotel early to leave our luggage and the guy manning the check in was cold, standoffish, and didn’t even bother replying to our pleasantries. When we returned, a misunderstanding ensured. Cos of my earlier encounter, I was just unreasonable. But thank goodness for Suhaila (I think) and her manager - they deescalated the situation with grace and aplomb. That bump aside, I had a lovely time. Was in room 213. Initially I was worried because I have read about noise issues coming from the club next door. But either the club was closed or the soundproofing worked, there were no disturbances. We slept like babies. The room was beautiful, and the location is amazing. This hotel is highly Recommended. Just don’t bother to pay extra for the breakfast. That was just too sad. We tried it on our last day in the hotel as we were leaving early for the airport. It was dismal.

This will be my first time experience stayed in Tido Penang Hostel and really like it. The room is quite cosy and comfortable. Each person got one big locker space with key, pillow and mattress, reading light, a plug, blanket and towel. Free WiFi at all floors and in dorm room too. The hostel consist of 5 floors, 1st to 4th floor comes with 5 rooms & 5 individual bathroom & WC. The lounge on 5th floor was big and had great 2 swinging egg chairs and plenty of space over looking the view of the city. There was also a computer if you need to use one. Every floor has a iron and board. The 5th floor comes with books/magazine cupboard, table bench & high chair, soft sofa, a fridge, refillable hot/cold water filter and a small kitchenette. Free breakfast is at 5th floor overlooking the city in the morning that comes with self service toast, 4 types of spread, biscuits, coffee, tea & filtered water. Every shared bathroom is clean and comes with rain shower hot/cold pressure power and shampoo/body wash. The 8 bedded bunk room is clean and spacious and look exactly the same in the booking website. Open air parking is next to Caltex petrol station. All in all, for a price that am paying, I am happy with my stay and highly recommending and suggested this place for those who want to explore Georgetown The service overall was excellent and the facility was fabulous. The location was in a quiet area and very convenient for eating out. Highly recommend Tido.. :)

Our stay at the blue mansion was amazing from start to finish. The staff were excellent and efficient. The room was great, with some nice touches like biscuits and sarongs to use by the pool. Yes, this is a budget Hotel. For around MYR 100 you get what you pay for. Great location, right in the action. Bars, Restaurants, hawker stalls, shops etc. Clean basic room, clean sheets, bed a little hard but still slept well. good A/C and shower facilities. There is hot and cold water 24/7 and a large balcony area with seating, overlooking the road where you can smoke vape and have a drink. Ironing station available. Only downside to this place is poor Wi-Fi. Could not get any internet in the reception area and definitely not in the rooms. Overall, an ok stay for a night or two. No problem recommending this Hotel.

Hotel is nice, however I highly recommend to change or move carpets in the corridor - they looks terrible and at first glance spoil the impression about the place. Rooms were clean, bathroom is new, hot water is very good. That is a pity you couldn’t open the windows, we have a view on the nearest building roofs, looks not bad. We had a problem with AC, cause it works from extremely cold mode, to slow fan and the worst it was located in front of the bad, so if you switch it on for whole night - you will be ill in the morning, and the room is in the sunny side, so it is quite hot during the day and night. I don’t know how to be with that, we choose to move one of the 2 twin beds to each other, it helped not so much :( now i have a problem with my throat. The hotel use new technology of check in, but a little bit strange to check out from the same room if you want to extend your stay. Price in the hotel too high, better to find good offers online.

We had a pleasant three-day stay at this hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location, situated between two large malls with plenty of shops and restaurants and within a reasonable cab ride to both George Town and Batu Ferringhi. The room was quite spacious but a little bit dated and worn down. It could use a refresh. The bed was very comfortable, however, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. We enjoyed using the beautiful infinity pool. Service was friendly and efficient. One area that could use improvement is the breakfast. Although there is a good variety of items offered, many just weren't very tasty. The best thing on the buffet was the homemade ice cream. Overall, this is a good place to stay when exploring the island of Penang.

Loved our stay at Tien Terrace, the whole place is spotlessly clean with such a beautiful finish to all aspects. The room is modern, comfortable and clean. Had a wonderful stay here. Very close to all the best cafes and bars. Friendly staff, spacious room, clean with good facilities. Would definitely recommend!

Clean and compact hotel that’s fairly new, but there were many issues with my room: •Toilet bowl was faulty on the first night and the following night the air-con broke down – changed rooms as a result • WiFi was spotty and weak – used my phone data for the bulk of the time • Be reminded that you need to place a tag on your door for room service. No one communicated that to me (until Day 4 after multiple times of feedback given) so my room was left as is for days. Tips: • They don’t serve hand soap, but you could use the body soap provided in the shower as a substitute. • There are no facial tissues, so toilet paper is your alternative.
