It's quite a long walk from Southern Cross Station, and some of the paths are narrow, making it difficult to pull luggage. The front desk is on the second floor, and self-check-in is available. Since I arrived early and wanted to check in sooner, I paid an extra $25 per night to upgrade to a queen room with a desk. The deposit was $100. The room facilities were complete, though the shower head in the bathroom was fixed overhead and only allowed for direction adjustment. There were plenty of TV channels, including Phoenix TV for Chinese viewers. The staff on the ground floor were very friendly.From$82

The room was decent, and the bed was incredibly soft, a real 'white-people bed' as they say, with excellent blackout curtains perfect for sleeping. We booked a one-bedroom suite, and the staff thoughtfully added an extra bed for us. The only downside was the somewhat chaotic front desk management. When we checked in, they told us the suite we booked was unavailable, claiming it was double-booked and offering us a standard room instead. It was the first time I'd heard of being downgraded because a room wasn't available! 😂 After I showed them our confirmation, they fiddled around a bit and eventually 'found' a suite for us. However, our booking included breakfast, and after the room change, we couldn't access the breakfast area the next day. We had to go back to the front desk to explain the situation again, and they finally gave us a card. On the second morning of our stay, we again couldn't get breakfast and spent another half an hour sorting it out. It was quite a hassle, making me feel like the money spent wasn't really worth it. Throughout the whole process, there was no mention of compensation; they just fixed the immediate problem. In previous hotels, when there was an issue, they usually provided a better experience after resolving it.
As for the restaurant teacups, honestly, they weren't clean; many had coffee stains.From$148

Check-in was smooth and the staff were genuinely friendly, creating a great first impression. The hotel’s location is ideal—nestled between two major roads within the CBD’s free tram zone.
My room was on the 9/F and top floor, spacious and well-appointed. Though the hotel is surrounded by buildings and doesn’t offer any view, it’s peaceful and practical. coin-operated laundry and dryer are available onsite, with laundry powder sold at reception for $1 AUD, which is quite handy for extended stays.
The television doesn’t support direct login to streaming platforms like Netflix, but I easily mirrored content from my personal device. This workaround worked well for casual viewing during my downtime.
There were a few downsides. One pillow had a visible mold stain, which raised a hygiene concern. I had my Do Not Disturb sign displayed throughout my stay, yet housekeeping entered and cleaned the room on my final day. It was an unexpected breach of privacy, and I hope the hotel takes note and reinforces respect for guest preferences.
Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was highly satisfying. The combination of its prime location, spacious rooms, thoughtful amenities, and friendly service makes this hotel a dependable and comfortable choice.From$79

I booked this hotel during a Ctrip promotion, and honestly, the price was a steal at 1000/night. First, the pros:
Location: It's right in the city center, first ring, free zone. You can take the tram for a free city walk. If you're on a day tour, the bus pick-up point is just a two-minute walk away.
The front desk staff, Holy, and the senior gentleman from concierge were both very nice.
Now, for the cons:
The coffee spoon wasn't clean, it was dirty. The minibar fridge had cooling issues; the bottom was full of water. These, I could overlook.
However, and seriously, as a Hyatt Globalist, I rarely stay at InterContinental, and I have never, in all my previous experiences, encountered an unlocked room door. I left my room early Friday morning for a day tour and returned at 9:30 PM to find my room door unlocked, just as pictured. I was shocked. The next day, I spoke to the duty manager, and they checked the surveillance footage, confirming that no one had entered my room. But my stay experience was truly poor. Such carelessness, forgetting to lock the guest's door after cleaning. Plus, this hotel's elevators don't require a room card swipe. At 9:30 PM, both the front desk and concierge were empty, making it easy for anyone to access any floor.
I somewhat regret not spending a bit more to stay at the Grand Hyatt. Also, I heard this hotel is rebranding to Regent, oh my! InterContinental truly feels like a makeshift operation. To think they dare to rebrand to Regent like this! This hotel usually sells at the same price as the Grand Hyatt, and if it weren't for this promotion, I definitely wouldn't have chosen it. InterContinental left such a terrible impression on me; it's really hard not to come here and complain.From$177

However, the minibar being located between the luggage rack and the bathroom is a bit odd and inconvenient, as you have to walk around to get hot water. The gym is excellent, with plenty of familiar equipment that's easy to use. There's also a swimming pool that looks to be about 20-25 meters long, and a tennis court on the 14th floor, which would be great for playing on a nice day. My room was on the 18th floor, and the view outside the window was nothing special. I'm sure there are rooms of the same type facing the church or garden, so I was a bit disappointed with the view I got. The bathroom design wasn't very practical. The sink in the toilet was too small to be useful at all, and the vanity outside was a waste of space, so my friend and I ended up using the kitchen sink to wash up. The hotel's location is great, but being close to the railway, you inevitably hear train noises. It was very loud in both bedrooms. Also, not every room has air conditioning; only the bedrooms do. If you close the door to other rooms while sleeping, there's no AC, which led to me getting hotter and hotter one night and sweating a lot. Opening the window was too noisy, which was a really awkward situation. The front desk is only open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, which means if you leave your luggage, you have to pick it up promptly in the evening, otherwise you'll have to wait until the next day. I think the hotel's pricing, considering it's an apartment hotel, offers great value for money, especially with its excellent location. It's very convenient to get anywhere. There's a free tram stop right outside, and South Cross Station is just one street and one intersection away. Plus, both one-day tours we booked had nearby pick-up points, which was a nice surprise we didn't know before booking the tours.From$25

The hand soap was watered down, and there were no tissues, so bring your own. The exhaust fan is centrally controlled and cannot be turned off. The AC was incredibly loud and kept rattling, making it impossible to sleep if it wasn't turned off. Also, the building is very old; you'll hear creaking noises from people walking around, even if they're not close to your room. This can be quite unsettling in the middle of the night or wake you up in the morning. If you're a light sleeper, I'd advise caution! Environment: However, the overall room size was very small. The room I was given seemed to be a disabled-access room, with a very large bathroom, but I didn't like that there were so many rooms on that floor.
Facilities: There's a gym and a swimming pool, but the pool is tiny, almost not suitable for actual swimming.

The hotel's breakfast was high quality and plentiful, though perhaps slightly less extensive than some five-star hotels. The service staff were very attentive. The restaurant is on the top floor and offers expansive views.

The location is fantastic, very close to Chinatown and easily accessible by car, right next to the subway entrance. The hotel itself is beautiful, and apparently, it's where the Queen stays whenever she's in town! We even took photos outside her room (picture three). The breakfast was unexpectedly good, and my family was very happy with everything. We're already looking forward to our next stay. Before arriving in Melbourne, the hotel called to inform me that the air conditioner was broken and it would take a few days to repair it, and asked if I needed to check out. In the end, I chose to stay. In Melbourne's summer, the temperature difference between morning and evening is quite large. It is very hot during the day but still very comfortable at night. I recently stayed at Citiclub Hotel Melbourne and had a pleasant experience. The location is very convenient, right in the heart of the city. It’s only about a 10-minute walk from Southern Cross Station, making it easy to get to and from the airport via SkyBus. Trams are also nearby, so getting around Melbourne is hassle-free.
The hotel room was clean and comfortable, with all the basic amenities provided. Since the hotel is attached to a club, you might hear some noise at night, but it wasn’t too disruptive for me.
Food options around the hotel are great. Just a short walk away, I found Roti Bar, an excellent spot for Malaysian food with affordable prices and generous portions. Highly recommend trying the roti canai and nasi kandar 😊
Overall, Citiclub Hotel is a good choice if you’re looking for a central location with easy access to transport and plenty of dining options nearby.From$64

The hotel website stated parking was $35, but it actually cost $40. Self-parking involved driving our own car to the adjacent parking lot, and valet parking was $95. The hotel's location was very convenient for transport, and the unique breakfast was a definite highlight. However, despite requesting a high-floor, street-view room away from the elevators, we were assigned a room right by the elevators with only a limited street view, which somewhat diminished the five-star experience. There was no in-room washing machine, and we had to send out laundry at an extra cost, which was quite inconvenient. Breakfast 6 days are the same, the menu does not much change, very poor breakfast so far under Pullman brand. The chef could not cook egg properly, egg sunny side up, burn under, white egg uncooked, not much enjoy for breakfast. Staff very nice but the service not so good.
