LV8 Resort Hotel Bali

Canggu Bali|0.49km from Quoi
I was a fool for not reading enough negative reviews about this place (or refusing to believe they could be that bad). The first 2 days I was stoked, huge room, priceless pool and good food. Then it went downhill. In a 6 day stay, I had three different rooms because things went wrong in each room. This was my first time to bali so may be sewerage infrastructure in the whole country is broken and not isolated to Lv8. If so then water down (no pun intended) my negative review. I had to move from the first room at 11pm as water crept into the bedroom floor from the bathroom. They mopped up the first water spillage around 9pm, but it just seeped back in and began to smell (rm 310). The second room I had to move from because the toilet blocked 4 times. After maintenance staff cleared it the 4th time and remembered I was the same person in the same room, he said ”you may want to move to another room”. It was just unpleasant and so I was expecting some form of compensation for the massive inconvenience and downer on my holiday. They could not take a discount off my food bill or accom claiming a government tax declaration excuse. I saw another reviewer talked about their flooding toilet, well I can validate it (April 2023). The problem still exists!! Anyway if you still have your heart set on staying here, this tip may help. The second room had a high pitched ringing noise. Maintenance thought it was the smoke detectors but after a day of searching, turns out it was the bar fridge, so if you hear a high pitched ringing noise (rm 112), turn the thermostat on the fridge down. That seemed to work. The floors are tiled, so the room above you will give you screetching moving furniture noises as well as heavy footed people. The only way around that would be to request the top floor. The final room (214) was possibly going to be sewer hassle free but the shower screen door would not close properly, so water would creep outside (unless I held the door shut while I showered). Rm 214 was directly below 310 (my first room) and I could hear construction, so I hope that mean they were fixing the leaking water. Another warning, be wary of their private driver Agus. I asked reception to call me a taxi to go to another venue in Canggu. I didn't know how much taxis cost, so I paid Agus the idr250k. The next day a Bluebird taxi to the same venue was idr100k. So yeah I felt ripped off by this hotel recommended driver. Be wary. The positives? yes the pool view is priceless and whenever I got depressed about my room debarcle, I had to chill by the pool to go to my happy place. The food I thought was also good. Loved trying Indonesian food. The noodle dish (me goring?) and the rice disk (nasi goring?) were both delicious and had it twice. The complimentary a la carte breakfast is also a big positive. 5 stars for breakfast. Huge servings and although you get a choice of 3 items, the portions are huge. You won't leave hungry.

Lalasa Villas Canggu

Canggu Bali|0.53km from Quoi
We had stayed at Lalalsa Previously in Aug 22 and had a great trip. We booked again and went for our wedding anniversary in March 24. When we arrived we noticed all of the villas around us were being renovated. We received a text from Lalasa 30 min after we checked in thanking us for our understanding of the current renovations and noise. Ummm, if we knew BEFORE hand, we would have moved our booking date. In a nutshell, there was grinding and industrial noise every day - all day - all night. It was impossible to stay at our villa during the day to lay around the pool as it was constant noise. At night it didnt stop either! Furthermore we couldnt enjoy the facilities, as there is a lovely communal pool area & bar, but they were renovating a new bar area, and there was constant grinding and noise there aswell! There was literally no escape. We complained to the managers on duty several times, and they were all lovely and even offered to move us, but the only rooms available were small and a fair downgrade to what we booked, so we declined. In honesty, the staff were all lovely, and tried their best and it was not their fault. I complained direct to Lalasa management to ask for a refund or credit for our trip, and was informed that according to their booking terms and conditions they cannot refund due to circumstances ”out of their control, such as building and renovating on their site”. Im pretty sure they control the renovations, and letting guests know about renovations to the property BEFORE they arrive surely isnt difficult. If we knew about these renovations we still would have made a booking at Lalasa, but for when the renovations were due for completion. The only reason I gave Lalasa 2 stars was for the staff. They all were so lovely and friendly, and had to put up with a lot of guests complaining about the noise and renovations, I actually felt really bad for them. We wont be going back - no way. not ever. I dont want to give money to a business that disrespects their customers in this way. Bali is full of amazing places to stay, and thousands of Villas, and when I have to go back to Melbourne for a rest, you know that Canggu is off the list as a holiday destination!

This was good place to stay. So good, that we even stay here twice - first time, we stay there for two nights before our trip to Gili islands, and then, for two more weeks, after we come back from islands. Well, first of all, this place is very clean and there is someone on the front desk, ready to help you for 24/7, literally! The kitchen have everything, except fridge (but everyone got small fridge in the room) and boilers, they have some five different frying pans, but no boilers, only two small things like cups where you can boil only water or eggs if you are quite creative. Also there is drinking water for free, as much as you wanna, hot water in showers as much as you wanna, air conditioning is working perfect, room cleaning is working good and regular, pool is always clean and cold. In front of hotel are some small space for your scooter (we leave our hamlets on our scooter too and everything was fine). Location is good, not far from ocean, not far from restaurants, ATM, different kind of shops. WiFi is for free also, it's good, only sometimes there is some problems, anyway, it's always better on first floor rooms and in the hotel lobby. Good choice! Thank you! 🙏🏼

This was our first stop in Bali and really enjoyed it. The employees were so friendly and always helpful. We really enjoyed the rooftop bar and view. The food we ordered for supper or lunch a few times was actually really good. I suggest the “flying noodles”. The cocktails were great and the happy hour is awesome. The bathrooms could use a little better lighting and the shower curtain could be a little more useful as it didn’t really stop the water from spraying everywhere. The location is perfect for Finns and Atlas beach clubs. Great location.

We want to give a special thanks to Nelson at the front desk who made our stay very pleasant. He assisted us with changing our rooms after we requested for a larger room the night we checked in. He was also very helpful in notifying us on a lot of cool sights/perks to visit around the area, many of which we ended up going to, as well as organizing transport for us. Regarding the hotel, the staff is very friendly. The rooms are new and clean but the rooms upstairs are quite small and don't have a desk or table to sit at. If you require a bigger room, the rooms on the lower floors have daybeds and desks, which we upgraded to for an additional fee. The hotel is in a great location right next to the beach and Finn's beach club. Housekeeping was very responsive and quick to clean the rooms. However sometimes room amenities weren't restocked depending on the day and unavailable until the day after (i.e. floor towels, toiletries, etc.) The hotel restaurant is an Italian restaurant and the food and drinks are good. Negronis there are a must. However, for staying at the hotel for many nights, the lack of menu selection/variety at Milano may get repetitive. Having Finn's Beach club right there makes it very convenient as an alternative for food options. All in all, looking forward to staying there again when we're in Canggu and seeing the pet goose Lucy again!
