Holiday Inn Club Vacations Piney Shores Resort

Conroe
While looking for a vacation, we came across this resort. The pictures of the resort showed nice spacious open and clean units. The resort was close to family and we booked two units so we could spend time with them while we were here. My mother planned to drive down from her home to be with us as well. When we arrived we saw the buildings shown on the website. However, we began to sense there was a problem when we were given our keys and told to drive to a different side of the resort. Once we finally found the unit the first thing that struck us was the smell coming from the dumpster and the flies feasting on trashed chicken that had been thrown on the ground. When we opened the door to the unit our first impression was that it was small, dark and dingy. My husband saw ”brown stuff” in the tub. We immediately went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. When we told her of the problem we had and that we would like to be moved to units shown on the website, she said they were full and were only for Hilton ”presidential” guests/members. Funny though, the parking lot was pretty empty. When we asked why the pictures of the cabins were not on the website, she said they had sent them to RCI for posting but they had not posted them. Had we seen those pictures when we were looking we definitely would not have booked. We told them we were checking out. They were friendly and told us they would refund the deposit and apologized for the problem. We then went outside to call RCI. The agent was very helpful but when we told him what the manager said regarding the pictures posted he said they only post what the resort sends and cannot guarantee what is looks like. He suggested that next time before we book we all the resort directly to make sure their description on line is what they have. Really? Yes, we did get 2 two bedroom units as reserved but not in units they offer via website. We have been trading with RCI for many years and this is the first time we've run into this situation. Online descriptions need to disclose and show everything that is offered. I was able to stop my mother from driving 4 hours for nothing and fortunately was able to stay with the family who was supposed to stay with us at the resort. If I was Hilton, I would not want these ”rustic” cabins to be part of what I offer my customers. Hilton- put out full disclosure for this resort. We would not recommend these resort ”cabins”

The Raeburn

My stay at the Raeburn was exceptional. Upon arrival, we were keen to secure a car parking space but, unfortunately, there were none. The on street parking is quite expensive so we didn’t want to leave the car there for the entire day. We decided to stay and have a coffee/ hot chocolate as some guests were due to check out and one of the lovely, helpful staff members told us when a car park space became available. We returned to check in around 3pm and were delighted to hear we had been given a free upgrade. Our room, Room 3, was beautiful. It was clean, very spacious, had a very comfortable bed and a gorgeous bathroom with a double sink, walk in shower (large) and a roll top bath. It also had gorgeous shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc. The minibar was well stocked and the complimentary items within were much appreciated. The room comes with a hairdryer, GHD straighteners and an iPod/ speaker - again, excellent touches. There were plenty towels ans the dressing gown and slippers were cosy. The best part of our room was what we thought was a standard wardrobe to hang our clothes. We opened the door only to reveal a large walk in wardrobe complete with storage, a full length mirror and ring light. It was beautiful! We visited the bar in the evening for cocktails and these were delicious. In fact, we started and ended our night in the bar. Breakfast was included in our room rate and we couldn’t fault it. Finally, the staff. We found every staff member to be friendly, polite, helpful and so accommodating. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We would definitely stay in this hotel again. We are regular visitors to Edinburgh but have never explored the Stockbridge area before. Although I would not rush to visit this area again, I would definitely stay at the hotel again as it is located on bus and walking routes into the city centre. Thank you to all at the hotel for a truly fantastic stay. ☺️

Hapimag Resort Edinburgh

West End Edinburgh|1.83km from city center
Hapimag was my hotel choice for a 2 night stay with my family. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk to Princes Street and is therefore conveniently located - quiet at night but not too far out of the city centre. The three of us booked a townhouse bedroom featuring a king size bed and a sofa bed. The room was majestic - easily one of the biggest ones I’ve ever stayed in. In fact, it was pretty much a 2 bedroom flat with 2 independent bathrooms. The decor was traditional, with high ceilings and thick draping curtains. The room could easily become a suitable accommodation for a family staying for an even longer period of time, as it featured a microwave, good-sized fridge and other amenities such as a corkscrew. With such a great hard product, the soft product let the whole experience down occasionally with minor faults. For example - the sofa bed was not made up when we came in and after contacting reception we were told we could make it ourselves and bedding was found in the cupboard. After enquiring why that wasn’t already made for us, we were told they don’t usually make it in case there isn’t a third person in the party. I did however email them in advance specifying there would be 3 of us. Tea and UHT milk was not replenished after the first night when housekeeping came to tidy up the room. What I found most annoying was that they advertised having a nespresso coffee machine in the room, yet they didn’t provide any capsules! You had to buy them at their own shop downstairs for £4.50 a sleeve of 10. I only needed a couple for the 2 mornings I woke up there… why putting a nice amenity and not let me use it ? Bathroom amenities were also lacking as they only provide a generic wall-installed 3in1 hair and body wash. If I could give the room a 6* review I would, but a few minor details spoiled what would’ve otherwise been an outstanding stay. Nevertheless, I would recommend Hapimag as a great hotel where to stay for a visit in Edinburgh.

New Town
This hotel is so good, why is the rating so low? The hotel has more than 200 years of history, although there is no elevator, but the equipment in the room is very advanced, the toiletries are all L'Occitane, especially mentioning that the bedside table has a radio that has been placed in the light classic is very soothing, lying down without having to watch TV like this The music is very comfortable. Breakfast bread milk fruit is self-help, other such as bacon sausage eggs can be cooked, especially Amway fried poached eggs super delicious. In the UK, if you go out to eat breakfast or lunch, you will have more than 100 pieces. The price is very high, and the price will be high. I will stay here next time~

We stayed here for 2 nights and arrived home today. Firstly all the staff were absolutely lovely!! We was so happy and to say they’re dog friendly really made our stay much better. The bedroom was spacious, the bed was huge, comfy & the shower was great! The cleanliness was 1000/1000 and we would definitely be back!! We didn’t have breakfast but the prices are cheap & I really recommend staying here. My dog loved it, I did tell the staff not to tidy my room and when we come back they had (which I felt bad about because it was a mess & our dog had stuffing everywhere from his teddy) but Thankyou for cleaning it anyways. Fresh clean plenty of towels, the only thing I would say is please add proper toiletries e g shampoo and conditioner as my hair did not like the shampoo. All in all it’s in the city centre, the windows open and you get a huge fan in your room!! The tv works, the WiFi works & it’s next door to tesco express, sainsburys & pubs!

Because it is a traditional old house, it has a special experience. The stairs and floors are all wooden, and the mattress is very loose and not the most comfortable. The bathroom is also more traditional, the shower room is small, and the water is hot and cold. There is a mobile air conditioner in summer, which is considerate. The environment of the hotel is very good, quiet, there are many restaurants and shops, bus station, and travel is very convenient within 10 minutes' walk. There are also mature attractions nearby, which can be reached on foot. The overall is still a good hotel, but it is a bit old, and the old house is also a good thing.

Great location, very nice building, with wonderfully appointed common areas (esp liked the library). Friendly and attentive service and tasty food (recommend the afternoon tea). The rooms are well decorated, spacious and bright. BUT there is a lot of noise, primarily from internal sources. So insulation really should be improved. Everything is audible from the hallway and the pipes make a lot of noise when shower/bathroom is used in neighbouring rooms. This is not what I would expect from this level of hotel.

Of all the places we stayed during our two week tour of Scotland this was definitely our least favorite. The toilet in our room barely functioned...you had to vigorously pump the handle repeatedly to get it to flush. When we called to report the problem the hotel told us the plumber had installed the plumbing upside down in our room so there was nothing they could do. The beds were very uncomfortable. The hotel had hints of a previous grandeur, but it was in need of some serious renovations. Some of our fellow tour mates even reported finding mold in their room. Not surprising. While we were there it was raining and as we were sitting in one of the main parlors we noticed water pouring down from the ceiling near one of the grand front windows. Breakfast was very disappointing as well. The food was so so at best and the service was lackluster. The location wasn't all that great too. Nice quiet neighborhood street but it was a fair walk to anything. On a positive note, the staff who worked the reception desk were friendly. After our tour was over, even though we were staying on in Edinburgh, we made the wise decision to more to another hotel.
