I have previously stayed at the Sofitel in Haitang Bay a few times so am quite familiar with their style and service and I have to say Sofitel. haikou actually exceeded my expectations. Considering it is just in a tall building, they've done a very good job to give it a 'resort' feel. They've achieved this through really excellent customer service and with decent facilities. The rooftop pool is nice and has sunbeds around the side (not really visible in the photos). I always value a gym in a hotel and I am a lift weights alot and I would say this is one of the best hotel gyms I've been to that isn't an actual commercial gym. It has a good enough range of equipment for anyone who regularly goes to the gym. We also had the club access and the ladies who worked in the clubroom, Kristy and Shirley were excellent and very friendly and accommodating. The level of English was also very good and I also appreciated that reception allowed me to check out at 4pm at no extra cost, which is always a good representation of customer service. Would recommend if you want resort vibes in the middle of the city.

Best service I’ve ever received at a hotel. Upon checking in staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Room was immaculate after service, clothes even neatly folded. Towels and bed sheets seemed brand new! Great stay, would highly recommend.

The location is good. There are places to eat and shop around the hotel. There are ground and underground garages with plenty of parking spaces. I got a free room upgrade. It’s quieter to sleep at night on the high floor. The room facilities are in good condition, the bedding is clean, and the air conditioning and hot water are great! When you check in, you will get free fruit and night snack coupons (the late night snack is Hainan’s specialty dessert brown sugar chicken **** vine). There are both Chinese and Western breakfast options.
