"I booked this room purely for its location, which is almost central and convenient for getting everywhere. However: 1. The first room I was given had its door directly facing the corridor. From a basic understanding of feng shui, as well as visually and psychologically, it was very uncomfortable. After providing feedback to the front desk, they changed it. 2. The second room was in a corner, next to a cleaning closet. When I came back for a rest around 2 or 3 PM, there was a constant clicking noise. 3. After my afternoon nap, I pulled back the duvet to find three stains on the sheet. I checked my pajamas and confirmed I hadn't caused them myself. After reporting it, they changed it again! 4. On the last morning, while I was using the toilet, all the lights in the room suddenly went out!!! The entire hotel had a power and water outage?!!! The smart toilet lost power and couldn't even release its stored water???... I've traveled countless times, but this kind of experience is truly a first! Thankfully, the door could still open, so I promptly checked out and left, ending this ordeal!"

"The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the ancient city. For dining: Xi Jin Dao is downstairs, Fenglin Pavilion is a 10-minute walk, and Long Juxiang offers delivery directly to your phone. Every time we took a taxi back to the inn, we'd get off at Huayan Hotel and walk two minutes. The popular Heshengcai is a 10-minute walk (though the taste was just so-so, and none of the pastries even had an ingredient list). For sights: Huayan Temple is a 5-minute walk. I visited Shanhua Temple at night, which was about a 15-minute walk. During the May Day holiday, there were only about 10 people in the entire temple at night, so we could enjoy a peaceful visit. On the way back and forth, we also saw the city wall's light show and passed through a lantern festival. Rumeng Datong (Dreams of Datong) was also within walking distance. Service was great too. On our last day, we had to leave for the train station at 7:30 AM, and the owner even packed breakfast for us. The lamb offal soup with vermicelli every morning was delicious. The furniture is all elm wood. The loft family room was perfect for our family of three. The only downsides were that the room rate was expensive during May Day, and the bathroom design was a bit impractical."

"This hotel is located in the heart of the ancient city of Datong. Although there were few steps of staircase leading to the entrance of the hotel and the reception was on level 2 and our room type was only available on the 3rd level. Upon check in the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo was very helpful and she helped us to carry our luggages to our room at level 3.. There was a small window in our room overseeing the street. The room was spacious and very clean. All corners, fixtures and furnitures in our room were wiped very clean. All amenities were provided inside the room too. The bed mattress and pillow were soft and very comfortable. Body gel, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, hand wash and clothing detergent were all good quality. 2 water bottles, toothbrush, hair comb and slippers were provided in the room. There were space to hang our winter clothing and also washed socks and inner wears. The air-conditioner was superb as it can be adjusted to 4 types of air:normal, wet reduction, cold air and warm air, hence it made our stay more comfortable. There was also an air freshener machine in the room to refresh the air inside the room. So far this is the cleanest hotel room throughout all my China trips. The housekeeper was friendly and ensure the room being cleaned up daily. Overall, I would like to compliment the hotel staff by the name of Xiao Guo for her hospitality and kindness in helping us when we asked her for any information about Datong and places to eat. Xiao Guo always smilling and her warmness has let us felt very welcomed as a hotel guest. Another compliment was to be given to the housekeeper old lady who really did a great job to ensure the cleanliness of our hotel room and the entire hotel public areas. Highly recommended this hotel to all tourist."

"Very nice little hotel. The amenities are in very good condition, the bed is comfortable and the ladies at the reception very friendly and helpful, despite the language barrier. However, a little bit of improvement on the overall cleanliness would be good. Little dusty with some hairs on the ground."

"I highly recommend this guesthouse! Firstly, the location is excellent. It's right inside the ancient city, very close to Huayan Temple, Nine Dragon Wall, and the ancient city wall, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. Secondly, the room layout is fantastic. In a prime location within the ancient city where every inch is precious, finding a guesthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms is quite rare, and it perfectly met our needs. Room hygiene: The room was clean and tidy, with no strange odors, and it was cleaned daily. Disposable bath towels and toilet seat covers were provided. The guesthouse also has parrots 🦜, peacocks 🦚, squirrels 🐿️, and goldfish 🐟, which add a lot of life to the place, and these little animals are all very friendly to people. While there are many guesthouses in the ancient city now, I still recommend this one the most, and the reason is the service! The owner of this guesthouse has an excellent service attitude, answering every question. As soon as we arrived, seeing that we were tired, they immediately brought us iced watermelon 🍉 and peaches 🍑. In the morning, they brought us warm, homegrown old corn 🌽 and local specialties. We were very touched!"

"Booked this hotel and had a fantastic time in Datong! The location is superb, really convenient for dining. You're practically right next to Zini, Longjuxiang, and Fenglingge. During the summer holidays, it was quite busy, so we'd grab a number and head back to the hotel to relax while waiting – very comfortable. It was also easy to get around; we could walk to Huayan Temple, Guandi Temple, and several other ancient city attractions in about five minutes. For places further out, getting a taxi right outside was also fine. The decor is very antique and charming, and the cleanliness was good! Despite being within the ancient city walls, it was genuinely quiet, and I'm very satisfied~"

"The room was clean and tidy with elegant decor, and the service was warm and reassuring. The hotel's location is excellent, making it convenient to visit sightseeing and dining options. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong."

"The hotel facilities are quite old, but its location is a big plus. I wasn't a fan of the large vanity mirror facing the double bed, and the air conditioning display stayed lit up all night. The power outlets also seemed a bit dated. It was clean, but there's a construction site downstairs. Luckily it rained, so there wasn't much dust, but it was quite noisy in the mornings. The overall environment is pretty average, which is to be expected for an older hotel. The breakfast selection was limited and the taste was just okay, though the knife-cut noodles were decent. I really need to vent about the restaurant. They advertised a separate entrance for hotel guests, but when I went down for dinner, it was packed. The staff managing the queue kept giving conflicting information, and the whole system was incredibly disorganized. Eventually, they told us to wait for half an hour across the street with non-guests until the central corridor restaurant opened. When I went back to the hotel lobby to ask what was going on, a front desk attendant had a security guard escort me up to a table in the Chinese restaurant, where I had to share a table. The food wasn't great either – very salty. Lots of complaints, so I'd advise caution."

From the airport pickup and morning meals to the comfortable accommodation and car rentals, the hotel truly embodied the warmth and sense of belonging captured by the phrase 'Datong under heaven, one harmonious family.' The owner personally picked me up, and she was wonderful—elegant, cheerful, and incredibly welcoming. The room she arranged was clean, tidy, bright, and peaceful, making for a truly comfortable and relaxing stay. The breakfast options were perfect for a Cantonese palate, and they even had coffee available, which was a thoughtful touch."

It’s super convenient to walk to the city wall and Huayan Temple. Perfect for exploring historical sites in winter without too much back-and-forth. 🏨 Ambiance: A dark-themed designer hotel with cool concrete and metal lines. The whole place feels very upscale, and every corner is photo-worthy! 📸 ♨️ Experience: The room has a private hot spring tub, which was incredibly therapeutic in winter. The steam instantly relaxed me, and the privacy was excellent. 🧴 Facilities: Comfortable bedding, clean bathroom, and great attention to detail. 🍜 Surroundings: Downstairs, you'll find restaurants, snack shops, and convenience stores – very handy!~"
